I know when you say people, you mean people, but it still feels like you're indirectly addressing me since no one else is saying anything. And I would be no good for explaining Dew's build. I could do it in like five sentences max.
Balanced stats for a stable base. Afterwards design skills and techs to stack upon that stable base, allowing for battle strategies involving various forms of combat at multiple ranges.
EDIT: The 'you're just addressing me' thing was typed before Toki posted. Too lazy to delete.
Dew, just take a moment and give everything you have a really good once-over. I've noticed a few things you have there that really don't need to be there at all that you could easily fit into another tech or Skill Rank.
I'll try later, but really, I'm not sure it'll make a difference. I don't see everything you see or think you see. Otherwise I wouldn't be tiptoeing around my own stat stuff like I normally am. xp

Garra's build was terribad anyways, mixed offensive stats is like the worst possible thing you could do with your stats (at least mixed defense gives you variety)
Why be mediocre at two stats when you can be a walking agent of death with one?
Because you don't know every power and technique on the site and you don't live in a fish bowl?
Only takes 4 techs to have an answer to every member who is foolish enough to have a complete dump stat.
"Compare against opponent's spirit" or "compare against opponent's strength" are both legit. Not as common as comparing against speed or defense, but legit.
TBH I'm of the firm belief that almost every instance on this site of "compare against reiatsu perception" should become "compare against spirit instead of defense".

Spirit v Spirit is very rarely used as it should be, more often than not its employed as a meta choice (ex. I can't hit hard enough and want to dick over people who don't spec in my stat) which is sort of a piss poor reason for it, very few Spirit v Spirit type checks exist which should be in that format so the only risk of having low Spirit is losing that avenue of combat. You're choice of offensive skill isn't something you get penalized for very often and its a waste of SP to pick both in most cases. Strength v Strength is actually more likely and more common than Spirit v Spirit anyways, although most people use skill checks instead (I don't claim to understand why BG does these things besides skill checks being MUCH easier because lolwhydothingslegitwhenIwannawinthemeta.)
Not that any of that matters. Have fun with your illusions and fireballs and hand wavy magic, I'm just gonna' gut people the old fashion way. No gimmicks needed.
Does this leave me open for counter attacks of many varieties?
Totally.
Is this meta concern something I care about?
Not in the slightest. If its healthy, and I don't want it to be healthy, i'll swing until it stops moving.

I have one Spirit vs Spirit check. It's not for damage, and so that I specifically hit strength twinks more powerful than me with a strength debuff. Cause, y'know, a debuff's a bit useless if I can't hit the people I need to debuff with it and I wanted some kind of out.
I doubt I'll ever have another, and I guarantee I'll never use one for any kind of damage. That's awful.
