Shinigami
For the Record
Name: Yuudai Takeshi
Age: Looks about 20, but is actually 150 years old.
Gender: Male
Loyalties: Yuudai is a weird amalgam of loyalties. He is loyal to the Sereitei, but he won't hesitate to disobey an order if he doesn't like it. These kinds of orders would be the kind that asked him to betray his friends, ask him to kill an innocent, or ones that he knew for certain for suicide. These orders are rare though, so he hasn't really had to disobey an order. He is very loyal to his friends and family though, and he wouldn't do anything to harm his friends or family.
Character Parameters
Height & Weight Yuudai comes in at a semi-hefty 215 pounds, though this is offset by the fact that he is about 6 foot 2 inches.
Hair & Eye Colour Yuudai's hair is short and brown, just the way he likes it. His eyes are a weird breed of green and blue. Most people think that Yuudai has blue eyes when they are far away (about 5-10 feet). It's only when they get up close (less than 5 feet) do they realize that he also has some green in his eyes.
Noticable Difference Yuudai has worked on his arms to the point of being godlike. They are well-toned, and well-defined. Yuudai's whole body is toned, but his arms are his pride and joy. Yuudai also has a tattoo of a flaming skull (similar to that of Soul Gloves) on his right arm. On his left arm he keeps a count of all the Hollows he has fought and defeated. The count still remains at a considerable 400, though that is not enough for Yuudai. Yuudai has a full beard and sideburns, though he sometimes shaves his mustache. He wears a tight fitting black beanie on his head along with his Shinigami outfit, and he usually wears tape gloves on both of his hands, just like human boxers.
Positive Traits
- Loyal: Sometimes it can be difficult to become Yuuda's friend. But when he does make a friend, he becomes fiercely loyal to them He would do anything for his friends, even die for them.
- Compassionate: Yuuda is a guy who can console anyone because he understands. Yuuda is the kind of guy that would take the time to help a puppy find it's way home.
- Humorous: Yuuda is a very funny guy at times. When he try's to be funny, it doesn't normally work out for him, but he is so weird/inherently funny that that makes up for it.
- Curious: Yuuda is very curious about the world and about new things. He is particularly curious when it comes to things that he thinks could help make him stronger.
- Quick-Witted: Yuuda is always quick with the comeback, but that is not the extent of his wits. He is also very quick in combat to recognize threats and such, and is able to quickly counter those threats effectively.
Negative Traits
- Fiery Temper: Even though Yuudai try's to be calm and collected at all times, he does get angry quite easily. When he gets angry, it is very hard for him to control himself. He is also very hard to calm down after he gets angry, though it can be done by friends, family, girlfriends, etc.
- Stubborn: Yuudai has a very long stubborn streak within himself. He has to be right no matter what, and if anyone tells him different he disagrees with them.
- Self-Confident: Yuuda is very confident of himself, and this sometimes gets him into fights that he can't handle. There have been more than a few times that he has needed someones help because if they didn't he would have been smashed to a bloody pulp.
- Vulgar/Explicit: Yuuda is not the cleanest of guys. He try's to keep his mouth in check, but that usually doesn't work out. Yuuda has been known to let the words fly.Rebellious: Yuuda is a bit rebellious. He usually follows orders... usually. But if an order conflicts with his beliefs or what he thinks he has to do, he will often protest the order and sometimes disobey a direct order. This has led to some conflicts in the past.
TMI?: Yuuda's arms are not oversized. They are actually in good proportion to the rest of his body, but they are really buff. Also he hates broccoli. With a passion. And he is a bit of a player. Also, he can't really stand Gigai's. They make him itch.
Bond Undeniable
Zanpakuto Spirit: Yuudai Takeshi's Zanpakuto spirit is.... a silver-back gorilla. But not just any gorilla. Oh no. This gorilla has on full steel armor, just like the knights of old used to wear. The gorilla's name is Goriragurēto. Goriragurēto is a very laid back individual. He likes to joke around a lot and talk with Yuudai. But when it comes time to fight, Goriragurēto is all business. He and Yuudai communicate with each other with ease, always on alert. In fact, it seems Goriragurēto enjoys fighting. It seems to give him a rush that sometimes scares Yuudai. But when not fighting, Goriragurēto and Yuudai usually enjoy talking about different things. They have a very good rapport with each other. It is like Goriragurēto is a mentor but also a best friend to Yuudai.
Inner World: Yuudai's inner world looks like a big jungle, with a treehouse in the center of it. Goriragurēto usually can be found in the treehouse doing many different things, although he sometimes comes down to the ground to talk with Yuudai when Yuudai doesn't feel like going up to the treehouse. The treehouse is in the middle of a clearing where a big playground has been set up, much like a kid's playground at a school. This shows Yuudai's more wackier side, while the treehouse is more of a "base of operations", showing his more serious side (which still isn't that serious considering it is a treehouse). The jungle is one that can be seen in the Amazon. The treehouse is huge and woven into the trees, so it is off the ground. There is a wooden ladder that one can take to get up to the treehouse, though Yuudai prefers to jump up to the treehouse. The playground looks just like a childrens playground, and has such things as swings, a merry-go-round, a see-saw, and a jungle gym.
Sealed Zanpakuto: Goriragurēto looks just like any other Zanpakuto, except for the fact that it has two green cloth ribbons coming from the end of the hilt. The hilt is streaked with silver, while the hand guard is entirely blood-red. The sheath is a mixture between blood-red and silver. When drawn, the sword looks just like a normal katana. The hilt, while having a silver color to it, looks like someone tied bandages around it. Yuudai normally wields it with one hand, though he can wield it with two hands for even greater precision.
Shikai Appearance: The release phrase for Goriragurēto is, "Taste the blood-red dawn! Let the sounds that are heard be ones of our victory! Roar, Goriragurēto!" When Yuudai calls for his Zanpakuto, the sword transforms into a giant great sword, the kind that usually requires two hands. But because of Yuudai's very buff arms, he is able to wield the great sword with one hand and he is able to use it like a normal katana: that is to say, precisely. The green cloth ribbons transform into strong vines, like the ones in the jungle. This is in tandem with his inner world and his Zanpakuto spirit.
Shikai Abilities: Yuudai gains the ability to manipulate the vines at will, either to trip up his enemy's or bind them. He can also turn them into another great sword that sticks out of the other great sword (OOC: in Darth Maul style). Yuudai at this point has to use two hands to balance the giant sword out, but he is able to wield it with incredible speed, much like a bo stick or a spear. If Yuudai concentrates on the middle of the hilt of the two back-to-back swords, he can break them into two separate swords, which he can then wield one with one hand and the other in the other. Yuudai can also revert the "sword" back to just one great sword and the two vines, though this takes 1 or 2 seconds and he is left defenseless during this time.
FLASHBACK
Life Before Death: Yuudai was born 150 years ago to a middle class family. He lived a simple life, farming with his family, playing games with his friends, and as he grew up, having relationships with girls. When he turned 18 he left his family to go to a big city. Here, he learned the meaning of poverty and hardship. Yuudai could not find a job, leading to a deficit of money that he could not easily fill.
As Yuudai sank deeper and deeper into debt, Yuudai struggled more and more to dig himself out, but to no avail. Yuudai also did not owe debt to just a normal person. He owed debt to a very dangerous outlaw in the town he lived. Eventually, when Yuudai could not pay the debt, the outlaw payed him a little visit. The outlaw brought his gang, who held Yuudai down as the outlaw tortured Yuudai with his knife. Eventually, when the outlaw had his fun with Yuudai, he killed Yuudai and dumped his body in an alley of the city. Yuudai was just 20 years old at the time, and his life had just suddenly been cut short.
Life As A Plus: Yuudai wandered around as a plus, slowly waiting for his soul chain to dissolve. He had no place to go, nothing to do. Yuudai felt lost, as though his life had no purpose, though he really didn't have a purpose in life to begin with. He was just a hapless wanderer, with no future in sight. Except for maybe becoming a Hollow.
Yuudai was one of the lucky ones though. Before he was devoured by a Hollow or turned into a Hollow himself, a Shinigami came and performed the Konso on him. Yuudai was at first frightened by the sight of the Shinigami. But, as the Shinigami explained what he was going to do, Yuudai relaxed, and, before the Shinigami slammed the end of his Zanpakuto onto the forehead of Yuudai, he let out a sigh of relied. Finally, after 5 years, his soul was at peace.
Life In The Rukongai: Yuudai arrived in the Soul Society with hope for a better "life". And he recieved it.... sorta. You see, he lived in the poorest district, meaning he was just as poor here as he was in real life. But he had learned to live like that, and at least in the Soul Society he banded together with other people, becoming like a family. He became a big brother to the kids in his "family", and he protected them and played with them and did the things an older brother was supposed to do. For the first time in a long time, he was happy. But, something was encroaching on that happiness. A gang of thugs was threatening members of his family because they could not afford to pay "protection" money. This got so bad that one day, Yuudai decided that enough was enough. He went out to the gang leader, in the middle of a street, and gave him an ultimatum: stop terrorizing the people of the town or be beaten to a bloody pulp. Unfortunately, the dumb thug chose option #2.
As Yuudai beat the thug, a Shinigami happened to be passing by and saw this happen. The Shinigami quickly proceeded to break up the "fight" and, sensing the spiritual pressure Yuudai had, decided to bring him in. When brought in, Yuudai was told that he had the option to become a Shinigami, make a better life for himself. Yuudai was a bit skeptical at first, wondering what would happen to his family if he decided to go down that path. Yuudai was only convinced when he was promised that his family would be moved into a richer district and be well cared for, and the promise that he could see them whenever he so chose. So, Yuudai accepted the way of the Shinigami, and that ended his 10 years in the Rukongai.
Life In The Academy: Yuudai started in earnest on his studies as soon as he entered the academy. His curiousness led him to ask all sorts of questions within the classroom, and to try different techniques when sparring. Yuudai worked hard on his studies, usually getting to bed very late at night. Yuudai figured that as long as he was here, he might as well try to be the best. Though he was not the best at Hakuda or Bakudo, he was at least proficient in them. Yuudai worked out every day, trying to tone his body to perfection. Though he has still not achieved "perfection", his working out during his time in the academy still left him very well toned and left him with very buff arms. Yuudai recieved his Asauchi during his 3rd year in the academy. He was rejoiced that he now had a real sword, instead of just a wooden sword. Yuudai trained with his Asauchi, trying to imprint some part of his soul upon the sword so that it could become a Zanpakuto. Yuudai tried so very hard for the first year that he recieved his Asauchi, but nothing happened. He went to his inner world through meditation, but nothing seemed to work. Yuudai eventually got so frustrated that he quit trying. But one day, during the end of his 4th year, Yuudai decided that he would try one more time. Yuudai sat down in his little room, controlled his breathing almost to the point where if you looked at him he looked like a statue, and he closed his eyes.
Yuudai felt weightless in that instant, as though the floor just dropped from beneath him. Yuudai quickly opened his eyes to find himself in the middle of a jungle with a treehouse in front of him. Just in front of the ladder leading up to the treehouse stood a huge gorilla in full battle armor, excluding helmet. Yuudai was immediately on guard, looking carefully at the gorilla. Yuudai wondered what this place was, and why he was here. The gorilla looked at Yuudai, opened his mouth as though about to roar, and then let out a bellowing laugh. There was no menace in this laugh; it was a very happy laugh, an exuberant laugh. Yuudai was puzzled as to why this gorilla was laughing, but the gorilla stopped with a small chuckle and said, "Well, it took you long enough dumbass." Yuudai was not mad at the insult, but was actually even more puzzled by it. Yuudai wondered what it was that took him so long to do, and he wondered why this gorilla was insulting him. The gorilla smiled at Yuudai and promptly explained that this jungle and treehouse was his inner world, and that he was Yuudai's Zanpakuto spirit. Yuudai was ecstatic that he finally knew who his Zanpakuto spirit was. Now, to just figure out his name. Yuudai puzzled as to how to do this, and then just straight up asked the gorilla what his name was. The gorilla roared with laughter again and said, "You sure don't waste time." The gorilla stopped, and started to slowly dissolve away into nothing. Yuudai was alarmed at this, but the gorilla explained that is was time for Yuudai to go, but that he was welcome to come back anytime he liked. Before the gorilla dissolved completely, the gorilla told Yuudai his name: Goriragurēto. Yuudai woke from his meditation with a start, but calmed down once he realized where he was. Yuudai looked at his sword, as though it was something new and exciting. Yuudai smiled, got up, and walked out of the room. Yuudai finished his years in the Academy, all the while gaining quite a good rapport with his Zanpakuto. This ended his 6 years in the Academy.
Life in The Sereitei: Yuudai did not immediately go into the Gotei 6. He figured he had rushed through his Academy years in a flash, so maybe he should take a bit of a break. This did not mean escaping his duties as a Shinigami though. He asked the main council in the Sereitei if he could stay in the human world for a year, but if after he was done he could come back and join the Gotei 6. He explained that he would still perform his duties as a Shinigami, and that he would come back once or twice a week to the Soul Society so his Shinigami powers did not diminish. This request was a little strange, but the Sereitei allowed it on the conditions that he would not reveal his Shinigami powers, that he would remain in Gigai form unless a Hollow appeared, and that he would come back in a years time. If he did not come back, then he would be considered rogue and would become an outcast. Yuudai agreed to these terms, and so his year long "cleansing" began.
Yuudai was very happy with his life on Earth during his cleansing. He enjoyed killing the Hollows that popped up, but he also enjoyed some of the things Earth had to offer. He developed a penchant for women, and he often had different girlfriends. He became known as a womanizer, which was sometimes good and sometimes bad. But Yuudai never forgot his duty to the Sereitei. He was thankful that they had allowed him to stay in the mortal world, but he would never ever shirk his duties as a Shinigami. Even if he was with a beautiful woman, if his Soul Pager rang, he quickly stopped the date and headed out. Yuudai was also very good about going back to the Soul Society once or twice a week. This gave him a chance to get out of his Gigai for one or two days, which he enjoyed, since he also developed a disliking for Gigais. They made his skin itch.
Finally, Yuudai's year came to an end. Yuudai was a little sad to see it go, but, he had made a deal. Yuudai opened the gate to the Soul Society on the prescribed day, stepped through the door, and returned to the Soul Society.
Life In Gotei 6 (and Life in The Fifth Division): After Yuudai was finished with his one year "cleansing", he was assigned to the Fifth Division. This was all fine and dandy to Yuudai, since he was still an actual Soul Reaper. He really could care less where he was assigned. Except for maybe medical. He never was that good at that sort of thing. He also liked the Fifth Division because of the camaraderie the Soul Reapers had there. Even though it could get very violent there sometimes, he handled it pretty well.
Yuudai laughed there, made friends, and became part of a family. But, he did not shirk his Soul Reaper duties. He regularly went on missions to kill Hollows, and he performed the Konso almost religiously, remembering what a Shinigami had once done for him. As the years went by, he regularly practiced with his Zanpakuto to master his Shikai. Even though after all these years Yuudai still cannot achieve Bankai, he still believes that it is only a matter of time before he is able to.
Roleplaying Sample: Yuudai had just finished off his breakfast when his pager went off. "Ugh, not another one." Yuudai mumbled to himself, as he sat there finishing his cereal. "That's the third one in the last 12 hours." he said, staring off into space. Yuudai was in the human world on a two day tour of a well known Hollow spot. It was a pain, but Yuudai did it because of orders, and for some odd reason he felt like adding some more marks on his arms. Yuudai smirked at this thought, but quickly wiped the smirk from his face. He quickly finished his cereal in one big gulp, set down the bowl onto the table, opened the window of his temporary apartment, and jumped onto the next roof and ran. Thankfully, Yuudai was already out of his Gigai when he was eating, which wasn't strange to Yuudai since he couldn't stand eating with the Gigai on. The way the food rolled down the things throat and sank to his stomach. Ugh. And how tight the damn thing really was. Double ugh. Yuudai shook his head to rid himself of those thoughts. "I need to stay focused and kill this Hollow. Hopefully this won't take too long." Yuudai thought, thinking about his date in less than an hour. She was a smoking hot brunette, with long legs and booty shorts short enough to make a grown man cry. Yuudai grinned at the thought of his date, but suddenly stopped when he saw the Hollow the alert on his pager was about. The thing was about 2-3 stories tall, and was ugly as hell. It looked like some kind of ugly dog. "Well, you sure didn't get anything in the looks department. I mean, damn, you are one ugly motherfu...." Yuudai was saying, but was abruptly cut off by the Hollow, who had turned to see the Soul Reaper and had smashed it's hand down straight at Yuudai. Yuudai quickly dodged the hand, moving to the right side of the Hollow. "What's the matter? Too slow?" Yuudai taunted, which caused the Hollow to let out a bloodcurdling yell. "I mean, my grandma can move faster than that, and she's been dead for over 180 years." Yuudai said, further provoking the already angry Hollow. The Hollow yelled and surged forward towards the Soul Reaper. It's mistake. With one mighty leap, Yuudai leapt above the Hollow and brought his Zanpakuto down onto the Hollow's head. The Hollow quickly disappeared into thin air, and Yuudai landed on his feet. Yuudai looked at the spot where the Hollow had been in disappointment. "Huh. Not even worth my taunts." Yuudai mused out loud. "Ah well" he thought, turning around and nonchalantly walking back to his apartment. "At least it was fun."
