Prestige Shinigami
It’s alright.
Name: Ezekiel
Position: 5th Seat, Fourth Division (Senkaimon Surveillance)
Age (Actual//Apparent): 85//35
Gender: Male
Loyalties:
Seireitei
Himself
Fourth Division
Physical Description
Height//Weight: 5’8” // 170 lbs
Hair: Ezekiel’s hair is a dirty blonde sort of color, kept short and messy. It is longer than what most would consider “spiked,” but still notably short in style. He is fond of facial hair, and wears a mustache-goatee combo most of the time, sometimes allowing it to connect into a thin beard along the edge of his jaw that fades into his sideburns.
Eyes: Ezekiel’s eyes are a dark, forest green. As far as expressions go, they are often considered narrow, almost as if he’s squinting. They are framed with wrinkles and bags from the long nights that he keeps.
Build: Many would consider Ezekiel’s build unintimidating. His stature is not lacking, but his body is far from robust, almost emaciated if viewed in the correct light. It is obvious that he has not taken care of himself, and that the majority of his training has gone into things other than muscle conditioning, especially since his initiation into the ranks of the Fourth Division.
Skin: Ezekiel’s skin, though white, bears a permanent tan from his life as a human.
Attire: While in the public eye and on the clock, Ezekiel does his best to wear his assigned uniform. The black robes, signatures of the Shinigami, bear no major modifications (visibly… there are pockets inside that just don’t make sense sometimes). He wears the patches for his division and rank proudly on his right shoulder.
-
However, whenever he can get away with it (at home, on vacation, in his personal lab), Ezekiel tends to wear more comfortable and less… layered clothing. His favorites are simply jeans and t-shirts (he has an extensive collection that he has pilfered from various mortal rock concerts). He also likes Converse sneakers, and has been quoted saying that humans make whiskey and shoes better than the Seireitei has ever dreamed.
Identifying Features: Somewhat surprisingly given his nature and appearance, Ezekiel has no tattoos, though he does wear a few earrings of various silver-wrought shapes. His body is a literal map of scar tissue, from his bruised and mangled knuckles to the mass around his sternum where he died that one time. His arms and back bear the marks of multiple different blades, and that says nothing of scars left of the prison tattoo on his arm from his human life that gave him the name that he uses today.
Mannerisms: Ezekiel has very deliberate mannerisms and expressions. Since his time as a seated officer, he has adopted a sort of masked expression of aloof happiness to hide his emotions and intentions. The smile that he flashes, while pleasant, gives no indication of his actual mood. His gestures and movements are almost lazily smooth and precise.
-
This is not to say, however, that he cannot be every bit the asshole that he once was. The “underlings” of the laboratory often face the brunt of this. At those times, he adopts a more menacing sort of expression of irritation.
Mental Evaluation
Positive Traits
- Hardened- Ezekiel is a man who has survived a great deal of trauma and pain. As such, it’s not exactly easy for someone to get under his skin. Words will never hurt him, and the sticks and stones are going to have to work pretty damn hard at it to make any headway. Anything that anyone else could have to say would pale in comparison to the things the young Shinigami thinks up on his own anyways. This covers both Ezekiel’s mental and physical tolerances. His threshold for pain is through the roof, especially if allowed to focus past it.
- Driven- To others, it may seem like Ezekiel is going nowhere, but when he does set his mind to something, he can be very determined, isolating himself and devoting his full attention to his task. He is capable of blocking out distractions and sacrificing even his own physical wellbeing to meet his goal (not that he gives much thought to his physical health to begin with).
- Kind- Though it’s hard to see beneath his prickly exterior, Ezekiel is actually a genuinely kind person if you catch him in the right mood. He does not want to see death or suffering. He wants to protect those around him. Problems simply arise when people act foolish or get in his way. He has little pity for fools.
- Adaptable- Ezekiel has been shuffled to and fro for his entire life, never staying in one place long. This has made him a highly adaptable person, when he wants to be. He is capable of fitting in with different groups and learning new trades in an impressively quick manner. He can live and be content in almost any sort of conditions and knows a little bit about most things (but a lot about only a few things).
- Comical- Ezekiel has a wit about him, and is capable of making almost anyone laugh. Unfortunately, he is also capable of offending people with relative ease. His sense of humor isn't everyone's favorite. Because of his naturally pessimistic demeanor, Ezekiel is more known for using his quips to insult and enrage than to entertain.
- Opinionated- Few people have ever accused Ezekiel of holding back his opinion. He is not afraid to critique or outright bully when he feels that someone is in the wrong, though he occasionally forgoes it when he feels that tact is a more efficient means to his ends.
Negative Traits
- Angry- The hand that Ezekiel has been dealt thus far in his afterlife is far from ideal, and it has left him more than a little bit bitter. This is a trait that he often hides from those that he considers close, and takes out on subordinates and enemies when given the chance –a rare occasion, as he is actually exemplary at keeping it bottled up inside of him.
- Lonely- Ezekiel feels incapable of building true relationships with other human beings, and it kills him. He hides it well, but deep inside, he is incredibly lonely. It is when Ezekiel doesn’t have the support of peers that he enters his downward spiral. The Shinigami becomes locked in a vicious cycle where he isolates himself to drown the pains he feels from loneliness, thereby shutting out those who might have become close to him to begin with.
- Guilty- Tragedies happen every single day in the life of a Soul Reaper. People die. Ezekiel himself is not ideally equipped to handle that eventuality. His weakness has, in the past and in his own mind, caused the death of his comrades and even friends. This is his greatest driving force to improve himself, to ensure that these events never transpire again. The survivor’s guilt that he feels from the random chaos that was The Massacre is crippling on occasions for him.
- Fake- Few people get to see Ezekiel’s true face, his honest and raw emotions. He has become so walled off and guarded that it is an automatic action for him to ignore his own feelings. Those that do, he would consider his friends. Everyone else is often left guessing just what the young reaper might be thinking. This only serves to push people even further away, but the Shinigami is afraid to allow his earnest personality to shine through. He is afraid of being perceived as insane, or worse, weak.
- Obsessive- The flip side of being driven, is that sometimes it can go too far. Ezekiel is capable of becoming obsessed over things with relative ease. It is a part of his addictive personality, and it sometimes leads to disastrous decisions and oversights on his part. Once Ezekiel becomes consumed by an ideal, it is hard for him to break away from it.
- Unstable- Ezekiel’s tenuous mental state shines through in a variety of ways, the least of which not being his tendency towards violent mood swings. His thoughts are sometimes erratic, without much evidence of forethought or logic. These compulsions can be violent or they can be whimsical. It’s a roll of the dice, really, based on what has been going on inside of his soul as of late.
- Tired- Ezekiel sleeps little, and has had a tiring lifestyle to say the least. It’s beginning to take its toll on him, though he tries not to let others know.
Additional Traits
- Lecherous- Ezekiel is a man, and he is an especially perverse man at that. Though he tries to keep things professional while on the clock, his afterhours activities and his thoughts are often sweaty and inappropriate. “That’s what she said” jokes are not an occasionally amusing quip for Ezekiel, they are a perpetual mindset.
- Hedonist- Sex and thoughts about sex are not where it ends though. Ezekiel may take his life more seriously now and devote himself more rigorously to a work schedule, but at his heart, he is still a wildly indulgent person. This manifests in all sorts of ways, but most often, in drinking.
- Chef- From developing flavors to creating new and experimental dishes, Ezekiel is a natural chef, though no-one would ever know it, as he has no friends or family to cook for. This is something that Ezekiel has discovered since his time spent in the Seireitei, as before, he had barely enough food to fend off the pains of hunger he felt.
