A sea of black. A sky of white. Ripples of one into the other.
A horizon of memories.
A cacophony of voices. Some friendly. Some angry.
All bound to the same oath.
And one silent before the crowd. Her eyes shut tight. Her fingers fighting in the lap of her black kimono. The tiered masses of shinigami in the audience before her reminded the unseated officer of her own little shame. She was a shinigami. A soldier bound by sword and oath to the Gotei. And yet she had yet to see her inner world in months; had yet to hear the cackling of her bitch of a zanpaktou since the day she began this farce of a trial. And yet something deeper than even the bond with her stump of a 'weapon' made her realize it was something deeper than the burden of her current duties.
Something that made her sick every time she was referred as a member of the Gotei.
The training barracks of the first division were a sacred space for her. Being too scared to leave Soul Society meant there was little reason for her to draw her sword. Of course given her zanpaktou was still without a blade, it wasn't exactly much of a loss. But still the loyal Suiren refused to let her skills go to waste. It was here that she met Kasumi. It was here that she had just barely begun to slowly unravel the mysteries of her own captain's signature step. And it was here on that enormous stage usually reserved for warriors of the first refining their skills that she would give her judgment of the four noble families that met with her...where she would outline her plan for the legislative branch of the Gotei...and then turn in a certain tightly sealed envelope she felt stiffening the collar of her uniform as she uncomfortable squirmed in the cheap folding chair the first had provided the line of guests and speakers that sat waiting for the ceremony to begin.
A long wait made even longer as she watched some member of the 4th she had never seen before step aside having wired that big wooden podium before which she hoped she could keep her lunch. Her cellphone quivered in one hand as she mindlessly typed on it with one hand, the other clenched in a nervous fist. Especially given her Captain Commander was one of the six seated on the chairs behind the thing on the enormous arena. Her only saving grace was that the giant screen projected behind them at least made the walk from chair to microphone less of an intimidating journey. Even if it meant projecting every stray hair and freckle for all the world to see...
God just strike me down...
And like that the screen lit up. The kanji for "Aizawa" flooded the screen. And a casual applause rang through the crowd.

Thread is open. Feel free to even assume your in the audience without posting here. There is a stage that usually functions as a training grounds. There is stadium seating packed with shinigami filling half of the circular training ground. The arena itself is cut in half by an enormous screen that will project whoever is speaking. Each noble will have an opportunity to go up and tell their speech, but feel free to post at any time and post reactions as appropriate.
