The first iteration of the Continuity Project can be found here. It's worth a read.
Some time ago, I endeavored to create a system whereby people who may not have threaded together before would be able to find some common ground to use as a basis for interaction. The idea was to create a character-specific resource that was easy to update and easy to compare with others in order to find common ground.
It initially took shape as a timeline accompanied by a brief list of familiar characters. The timeline was based on a relative date system, where the Invasion of Hueco Mundo by Seireitei served as a point of origin, or year zero. Others expanded on the concept by adding new features—such as Mitsutaka's character relationship table for both stated and implied relationships—and eventually we had something worked out that made it fairly easy to find common ground with someone.
One relationship in particular stands out as an excellent example of how the system was put to good use, and that's the Kyousuke–Mitsutaka dynamic, which sprung up out of nowhere once we realized that our characters would have served in the same division at some point in the past. Put simply: friends show up in the most unexpected places.
Another large part of the Continuity Project was the canon listing. Telling an engaging story becomes a lot easier if it takes place in an engaging world with an illustrious (and diligently documented) history, and the canon listing was an attempt at promoting that. During my tenure as captain of the Second Division (voted division of the year, all years), I introduced—among other things—a list of the former captains. Some captains ended up maintaining similar lists, some not. In an effort to make this information widely available to all regardless of how the captains formatted their divisional page, the canon listing therefore included all divisions, including defunct institutions such as the Kidō Corps. A list documenting former Espada was also created, in order to aid those on the opposite side of the spectrum.
The lists are as follows:
