The smooth sounds of the Senkaimon closing echoed across the empty streets as Walkren and his companion stepped onto a nearby roof. He took a moment and surveyed the surrounding area...a city on the smaller side, Sapporo. Building rose up, but didn’t try to touch the sky. Walkren liked that. Big buildings never did sit right with him. Thankfully, many of the bigger structures were in the distances, the downtown area of the city. Lights and sounds were lightly traveling to their senses from that area of the city. They had come out into a quieter neighborhood district. It seemed like everything was right in the area, but Walkren knew that wasn’t entirely true. He could feel the problem that they were sent to fix: an almost total lack of Pluses.
Why had these two been sent to figure this out? It was a mystery to Walkren, above his pay-grade and he didn’t care enough to question. He just knew that there was some problem with Pluses seeming to disappear in the area. The higher ups didn’t give them much more information than that. The most logical solution was a Hollow hunting them down. That’s what they were sent to figure out. The sooner they figured it out the better.
Walkren had been doing a bit more work than he normally liked lately. Everyone was short handed though, it made sense. Even if it made sense, Walkren still didn’t care for it. He wasn’t being lazy, but he didn’t want to seem like he’s trying. He just wants to be left in peace. That’s what his life had turned into over the years: Just staying right on the fringe. He was alright with it. He and...What was his name again?...Daisuke! He and Daisuke would finish this up nice and quick.
Daisuke was a fellow member of the third. Walkren had seen him around, here and there. Mostly working in the forge or helping repairs around Seireitei. Walkren didn’t usually bother with that kind of work, so there weren’t any moments that they would have officially met. There had probably been a nod shared between the two men once or twice, but nothing as extensive as sharing a mission together. He was a mountain of a man, standing almost a foot taller than Walkren and probably weighing much more than him. Walkren didn’t mind having someone to be the muscle.
We know who’s going to be doing the fighting.
A smile crept onto Walkren’s face. He put his left hand behind his head to scratch. His right was, as always, gripping his dagger that was tied to his hip above his main blade. Perhaps this man wasn’t all muscle though. He was in the third squad...but that might be just an ironic placement. He seemed more suited to a more combat oriented squad. If it came to fighting, which Walkren hoped it wouldn't, he would probably find out.
He turned to the man, a friendly smile on his face, “So, Daisuke, we have a mystery on our hands. Where do you think we should start first?”
