[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: After having his mask broken and reverting to his more humanoid base, Zettai acquired a head of shaggy, long brown hair that curls down his neck to ring along his chest and back. Because of these wild locks, his blue left eye and the hole where his right eye should be are generally obscured. Beneath his short nose, his upper jaw and philtrum are lined with the remnants of his hollow mask to slide bone teeth over his curt smile. His lower jaw, bare of both mask and facial hair, ends stoutly.
Extending down his body, Zettai’s two arms are antonyms of the other. His right arm is clean and tan, with a clear complexion. His left, meanwhile, is crisscrossed with scars and contusions from fingertip to shoulder. This is free to be seen as he wears no shirt or jacket. Despite the state of his arm, the rest of his body is in impeccable condition, with not a single blemish or mole to be found. A pair of gray jogging pants are his one and only piece of clothing, too in a constantly flawless state. Although his pants are too long for him and he frequently walks on them, his feet can occasionally be visible to reveal his severe need for a pedicure. Finally, his zanpakuto completes his outfit as the only accessory on his person. A black strap similar to nylon in appearance binds the sheath to his back, with the sheath poking out above his right shoulder. This is to match his prominent right arm.
Having shrunk once more due to the condensation of his power a la hollow evolution, Zettai's thin frame is the product of his power condensing as well as his humanity being brought back to the surface of his soul. His height usually seems shorter than it actually is, due to him slouching frequently in an effort to not be seen and take in as much information from the environment as possible. However, when it is time for him to act, he immediately assumes his full height and stands at attention. Despite the fact that arrancar generally do not have access to a shower, Zettai's casual scent is quite clean and subtle. An exception to this is after his reiatsu has been called forth for any reason, where his body takes on the same hot-iron smell as it.
To properly converse with Zettai, one has to get past the sporadic pitch displacement his voice and personality. This is due to him constantly flickering between a curious, contemplative mutter to a manic, hasteful excitement and then a roaring, angry frustration. Prone to asking questions that turn into a long-winded rants, he is also known to possess a Lecture Voice similar to the ones public speakers use when drawing in their audience. Consistent in that it fluctuates with the ideal of his speech, with slow, punctuated questions and crescendoing, bold statements. His Lecture Voice is the most often heard outside of muttering. There is an off-chance of someone surprising Zettai, however, and he will almost certainly react with dumbfounded-ness, be it a positive or negative surprise.
Spiritual Description: When brought out either purposefully or from emotional underpowerment, Zettai’s reiatsu swirls up from around his feet to violently whirl his hair as it whips around him. An opaque green, it fills the air with the sounds of scraping steel, like a carving knife being sharpened, and the smell of hot iron. Depending on the charge his reiryoku holds in relation to the rest of his reiryoku when using his abilities, three distinct shades of green can be picked out. The neutral tone (which is a color his reiatsu also holds), is a green close to jade. In order to make his abilities attract each other, they must hold an opposite charge. To show this distinction, a heavy emerald and lighter sea-foam green complete the set. During times of extreme duress, the rapid spinning of his reiatsu around him will cease and will instead collect behind him to form the classic image of a gillian mask, revealed in the flickering of tall, flame-like tongues in his neutral green.
[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: Believing that the most important thing in life is to complete a task, as that is the only way to truly make a mark on the universe, Zettai is constantly looking for a bigger and grander quest to partake in. There is a well inside of him that stretches deep into his core, drawing up gallons of curiosity and inspiration to guide him along these quests, resulting in his demeanor as generally up-beat and excited. This usually results in manic, adrenaline-fueled actions as he hastes to perform and see if his hypothesis was correct. Always thinking, Zettai has learned that the trade-off for awareness and active intelligence is the need to find answers. When he cannot seem to find the answer, his frustration and stubbornness will dominate him, forcing him to stick to the task with repeated attempts until he succeeds.
Judging himself based on his ability to succeed at a given task, he will stop with his quests for the sake of polishing a particular skill until it is par with the rest, resulting in him keeping himself a jack of all trades. Likewise, he judges others based on their ability to perform their given (or chosen) tasks. Because life is short and people are many, he does not form complete bonds with people and instead sees them as party members as the most intimate level of relationship. This does not mean that he cannot form deeper relationships, nor that feelings of loneliness do not build up sometimes. It just means that he finds it easier to not, and is already beginning to see the plight of immortality that his extended lifespan as an hollowbreed has. Occasionally, however, he sees the mutual benefit in friendship and having another individual to rely on, and if they can impress him with their tact, ability, or skill, he will consider them a legitimate comrade.
A comrade is an individual that Zettai has a responsibility to support, communicate with, and generally provide his assistance to whenever it is asked of him. Likewise, he expects the same treatment toward him from somebody that considers themselves an ally of him. He is quick to drop a comrade when they show an inability to respond to action or provide assistance, although he recognizes when a short-coming is being worked on and will keep a comrade if they are seeking refinement within themselves and trying their best. Zettai recognizes that experience is the key factor in growth, and cannot blame an individual for not yet experiencing enough to handle a certain situation. For someone to be considered unable to respond to action or provide assistance, they must show no will to improve themselves in those fields as well. In comparison, Zettai judges an enemy based on repeated attempts to up-heave his own goals, be they momentary or hard-set. As long as someone faithfully opposes him, he will return the gestures given. At a certain point, a part of Zettai's subconscious makes a decision as to whether or not he will find respect or annoyance from an enemy. This is usually determined by if they repeatedly engage, yet remain equal in skill (typical rivalry behavior). If an opponent is several tiers higher or lower than Zettai in comparable power, he will only grow increasingly annoyed and frustrated with their (attempted) meddling.
Zettai is fond of asking questions when first meeting an individual. Typically, these questions fall along the lines of asking that individual their purpose while simultaneously demanding their world perspective or to see their 'Uniqueness' (which is how he describes their power) if they cannot provide one. When an individual fails to respond effectively, it can set Zettai off in a rage which almost always escalates into a brawl as he attempts to beat the information he wants out of them. If the other individual answers in a satisfactory manner, Zettai will begin asking more questions in an increasingly manic manner until completely satisfied. To show his gratitude to an individual for sufficiently answering his questions or showing them the tools of their purpose, he is prone to delivering gifts or offering favors in the form of combat services and other favors. If, on the other hand, an answer is unacceptable, Zettai will grow increasingly more frustrated until he devolves into violent rage.
Right handed, Zettai perceives his arms as his first step toward finding and fulfilling true purpose. In order to determine if purpose is something chosen by the self or the universe, he gave his right arm the purpose of attacking and his left arm the purpose of defending, with the logic that the finer dexterity in his right arm would be more useful wielding his power while the raw power of his left could be used to block. Because of this trait being introduced and persisting in his adjuchas stage, his left arm has become patterned with a criss-cross of scars from the numerous damage it has taken while his right is clean and otherwise 'pure'. This further bleeds into both how he uses his zanpakuto and hollow power. If Zettai is using his sword to attack, he will do so with his right arm. He often switches his sword into his left hand if he has the opportunity for blocking purposes, however. Likewise, if Zettai is applying a force of attraction to a pair of abilities, it will be done with a motion from his right arm/hand. When he is applying a force of separation between two abilities, it will be done with the left.
Goals & Achievements: Although he boasts no achievements as of yet, Zettai’s current ‘Big Picture’ goal is to join the Espada. Not particularly devoted to a single ruler or leader, the arrancar wishes to simply serve for the sake of serving to see if his purpose lies there. No matter who the monarchy is ruled by, he believes he has the potential to create a division for those with a similar aptitude for getting things done.
A smaller ‘Wallet Size’ goal that Zettai frequently checks on is to gain a reputation for his determination and reliability. Although he believes joining the Espada and gaining recognition from the King/Queen of his people will accomplish this to a standard degree, he does not see it as the end-all be-all and will find a way to do it regardless of his association with the Espada.
[ GUARDIAN ANGEL ]
Aspect of Death: Frustration - The inability to complete a task effectively and with efficacy will result in a meltdown of logic and rationality into blind frustration and hastiness that results in eventual destruction for both himself and those involved.
Power: The Absolution Wave is an aura applied to any spiritual construct sourced by Zettai, including but not limited to his cero, his zanpakuto, and himself. This aura applies the property of Attraction or Separation between a pair of Zettai's reishi constructs, resulting in them translating through any available medium to move to or from the other.
Zanpakutō: Herramienta is a ¾ length Tizona sword that is carried in a sheath as elaborate as itself slung across his back. The strap that holds it to his chest, as well as the scabbard itself, dissolve at his intent to draw, allowing for him to quickly equip himself in combat. As tradition dictates, Herramienta possesses intricate detailing and carvings along the hilt and blade. Colored a soft teal, the handiwork involved in a sword of such a design would generally be regarded as ‘beautiful’ by enthusiasts. Likewise, it’s black scabbard and strap are accented with the same color teal to provide the semblance of organization. Both sides of Herramienta are sharpened, symbolizing Zettai's willingness to sacrifice tact for lethality at times. The shape of Herramienta comes from a sword mostly used for Fencing, something that comes naturally to Zettai's fighting style.
Mostly forgoing slashing and blocking, Herramienta is primarily a stabbing weapon. The shape of the blade lends itself well to the penetration and fast reactions, giving Zettai's haste and manic determination room to try and try again. Although thinner than a traditional longsword, the blade of a Tizona is still larger than that of the usual rapier, allowing for a versatile technique list when it comes to zanjutsu. Furthermore, because it ends at a very tapered point, it is often used to channel cero for precision and accuracy. Although a zanpakuto is weightless to the user, it still carries a weight and mass when checked by all other individuals. Because Herramienta is only 3/4 the length a sword it's style normally is, it's also slightly lighter. Coming in at just under 2 lb, it cuts through air resistance and gravity as if it weren't there, allowing for a very fluid, rapid movepool.
[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin:As a mortal human, Zettai was never given a fair chance. From a young age, he was abused by his father. When his father drank, he blacked out and did unspeakable things to him. To make matters worse, he was a kind and gentle man sober. The continuous cycle of this violence and love as his only source of guidance taught him to treat the ones he loved with the same extremes of love and hate. After hospitalizing his younger sibling with his own brutality, Zettai’s family was torn apart. His father was sentenced to jail. His little brother was being adopted and moving across the world. At 14 years old, Zettai was sentenced to Tokugawa-era juvenile detention. Essentially locked in a tower, he was nearly forgotten about.
Eventually, he was freed for good behavior and allowed to apprentice under a local tradesman. The pressure of trying to assimilate as a proper member of society proved too much and built a frustration and confusion within him that avalanched into his own demise. While learning to properly test underground caverns for poisonous gas, he lit his match too quickly and blew himself (and three other people) up. Deep underground in the coal mines, the four souls dwelled. As their hungers grew and no-one showed up to guide them to Soul Society, their individual descent into madness was inevitable. After witnessing the most vulnerable of them transform into a demi-hollow state and threaten them with primal screams, he grabbed the chain in his chest and tore it out. His thought process at the time was focused on becoming a better monster than the one he faced. It was a successful act, and he did in fact become a better monster.
Tearing through the opposing demi-hollow, he consumed it and the other two spirits. Breaking free from that place, he used Kumon for the first time to venture forth from the mortal plane and entered what he would learn to call Home, as a caterpillar leaves the ground and soars for the first time. Immediately, he noticed the difference. As a human, Zettai had been surrounded by those that wished to devour him. Now, here, as this thing, he was ready to devour everything that surrounded him. The very air itself pulsed with nutrient, and he could feel the rocks beneath him surge with energy. Everything was food here. Everything would make him stronger. Beginning his journey of exploration for both the new world he was in and the new body he possessed, Zettai tore a chunk out of everything that passed him.
Rise to Power:His evolution into a Gillian-class Menos was strange. After spending nearly a century roaming and eating what he could snag a bite off of, he changed again. This time, when he did, he felt the strangest sensation of simultaneously viewing and being a million raindrops on a window pane. Several of these droplets were crying out, urging him to just slide off the glass. He defied, and instead, chose to slide up. Gaining control of the composite entity, he solidified himself as a massive, anonymous horror and found a new problem. The hollow he was eating were no longer having any effect on his hunger. He could swear it was only making it worse! After several years of this, the frustration of eating and yet not being sated drove him to seek out souls with a much higher power level than his own. After several close calls where he almost lost a chunk of himself, he managed to find the forest of Gillian Menos. Calling as many of them to him as he could, he initiated a cannibalistic feeding frenzy that resulted in him evolving once more. Shrinking down, he retained most of the classic appearance of a Gillian, although his mask was unique and he stood at a mere 7’.
His Adjuchification drew the interest of a shinigami, and Zettai met the other team for the first time. The shinigami initially had him on his toes, but Zettai eventually forced the shinigami to leave or die. This confrontation was also where the arrancar-to-be required the majority of the scarring on his arm. He had blocked countless spells and energy blasts with it, as well as blades and other weapons. He wasn't sure it would even function again after the fight, but it eventually healed to the point of functioning again. Still, the scarring was something that his body kept even as he evolved later, perhaps his subconscious choosing to continue to represent it as a symbol of his devotion to purpose. It was at this point that Zettai found a resurgence of emotion beside hunger. Realizing that his quest to better himself had not once been stunted, he began to seek other hollow of his level. The adjuchas were smarter than Gillian, and he would be able to teach them to fight like he could. Worst-case-scenario is they could go stir up some trouble and force some shinigami to come find them.
After hearing tales from other hollow about the power that Shinigami could have, he was eager to prove his worth by slaying as many of them as he could. Many hollow shared his bloodthirstiness and wished to join his pack, but most were weak and inferior for some reason or another. Picking only the best, Zettai eventually had a small pack of hollow that roamed the white desert like sharks. Although the pack was having a good time pillaging their smaller brethren, Zettai was hatching a plan that would surely result in the world’s acknowledgement of his capabilities! The pack spent it's time practicing with their hollow powers and looking for new ways to use them. At this point, Zettai's powers presented themselves as the ability to bend and bounce his natural hollow gifts. As he came to terms with the idea that the tools he had may already be sufficient, and it was how using those abilities creatively would be his greatest asset, his dominion over his brethren grew and he solidified himself as a name among monsters.
His plans to become a salt-and-pepper name were shattered when another adjuchas challenged him for command over his pack. During their scuffle, his mask was pierced when a hollow he considered his comrade struck him from the side. Fighting death with every fiber of his being, Zettai adapted to the pain from his mask being broken and reformed. Beating down the interloper and his would-be assassin, he ripped their masks off with his bare hands and crushed them, resulting in instant deaths. Feeling nothing but rage over those that were supposed to be his friends but betrayed them, Zettai’s frustration came to light once more and he slaughtered them all, consuming a piece of each one in the process before they faded into oblivion. This time, however, he felt a guilt for his actions that was so severe he had to take consequence. Taking hold of the sword that he couldn’t seem to leave behind, Zettai plunged it through his right eye. This completed the arrancarfication process, and Zettai’s admittance of his wrongdoings over blind frustration moved his hollow hole from his chest to his face. Knowing now that the sword he held was his forever, as natural and organic as his arms and legs, Zettai once more set out seeking great purpose.
Call to Action: Now a half-breed with the ability to see his own reflection with more acuity, Zettai began to train with his zanpakuto. Knowing that it was a sword the same as the one that his fate-delivered enemy carried, it brought to his mind immediate questions about what that meant for him, and what that meant of him. After struggling with his identity momentarily as an entity and if he belonged in Hueco Mundo or if he would no longer be accepted by his own brood. While struggling to find a place to call home, he distracted himself by reflecting on the upgrade to his powers that arrancarification had given him. As well, he used every free moment of his time to keep his skills sharp and train himself against anything that couldn't answer his questions. Because his power is to magnetize his constructs against themselves, he found it important to specialize in no skill but rather keep himself rounded on all fronts. This was done by starting a tradition where he would goad large hollow into picking fights with larger hollow until a decent sized chain of hollow-chasing-hollow would form, and then he'd engage them all at once.
After several decades, multiple incursions of shinigami into his plane and a call to arms from a being claiming royal heritage over all hollow drew his attention. Although he did not make it to the war in time, it gave him knowledge of a third realm, as well as brought his attention back to the human realm. As he drew closer to the kingdom of rumors, their tales grew bolder. There was a group loyal to the king that was actively engaging in these acts of great purpose! Perhaps he could find a way to join them. Before reaching Las Noches, however, a he met a denizen for the first time. A Privaron. Zettai boasted of his power and claimed to be there to join his master, and the Privaron royally beat him into the dirt for it. Realizing there was still a massive difference in power between them, Zettai felt nothing but happiness as he limped away from the scene. He saw his new goal with clarity and conciseness. For the first time ever, he felt no frustration.
In a bid to find new mountains to climb and stretch his wings, Zettai left Hueco Mundo for an extended period. Traveling to Earth, he sought out powerful souls that would provide him with more raw power, as well as unique souls that would test his true abilities and force him to not just push the envelope, but bend it in every euclidian direction possible.
