Mako glanced at her when she commented on the ingredients, and simply nodded his head as he slid the jar away, "Remind me to give you my other mixture that assists with long term healing before we leave." he commented idly, the other jar held his superior mixture-- Symphytum, Echinacae, Tarrow, Rosemary, Plantain Lead, and Calendula. Perfect for encouraging blunt-based trauma to mend, even usable on fractured bones. Lifting a hand as he would relax a bit-- his brow arched as she would obviously struggle to try to think of what her barrier may be. That was natural-- you didn't exactly think about what the barrier could be while it was in effect.
Mako blinked, however-- when Yuuta was brought up, causing his head to slowly tilt to the side. "You know the idiot?" he inquired simply, and yet despite his words-- his tone actually seemed to lighten a bit, a slight glimmer appearing in his eyes-- curiosity and barely visible fondness as he would make an 'hmm' noise in the back of his throat. There was other Yuuta's, he was sure-- it was better to clarify.
"Yuuta Yasui? Unseated of Fifth?" His brow arched a bit before he would allow both hands to relax into his lap once more-- and instead debated her response in more detail, she communicated with her, but the spirit didn't talk back-- which of course, could be part of her personality. However, the fact that the girl was just venting constantly-- meant that there may be something deeper there. Generally, when someone vented, it was due to their own anger and distaste-- and Yui had four hundred years of exactly that. Slowly, he would blink-- realizing, with dull amusement, there was a similarity between them.
Emotionally stunted. However, the difference was that Mako was aware of it-- and he didn't give a shit, finding the idea of becoming too attached far too troublesome and annoying. Terrifying. His jaw clenched a bit at that idea but he put it from his mind, Yui was the goal for now-- and if her issues were similar to his own but without the realization of what it was, then he couldn't just shove the answer in her face. She had to figure it out herself-- but that didn't mean he couldn't lead the horse to water.
"I think you're missing something-- certainly. Did you not consider the idea that her idea of strength-- may not be the same as your own definition?" his eyes trailed down, looking toward the young woman as he lifted one hand, inside it, there was a rotating orb of reiatsu suddenly, despite there being no stirring in his own energy.
"I am strong," he stated bluntly. His eyes looking into her eyes as he would then raise the orb for her to look at, inside was an image of him, standing victoriously over Yuuta-- not a scratch on him, with Yuuta panting on the ground, completely beaten. "I have beaten Yuuta, countless times. He's an idiot, he can't use Kidou, he's durable and strong-- but that's all he has going for him. However--" Mako clenched his hand, and the orb shifted, flashes of Yuuta-- a Yuuta she had never met, young, a child, dashing forward without hesitation, talking to anyone in the Academy that wanted anything. Helping strangers, defending rukongai residents from muggers when he was just a boy. The orb pulsed with warmth and light.
Then, it shifted-- and instead, the orb turned pitch black, dim grey streaks of mist swirling around what could only be a younger version of himself. Alone, surrounded by the void-- alone. "I say, without hesitation-- Yuuta is stronger than me." His eyes slowly lifted, releasing a slow breath as his eyes focused into Yui's own.
"So-- I ask again-- is your meaning of power, of strength-- the same as hers?" The question was gentle, as the orb of reiryoku swirled, spinning and deteriorating into the air as he slowly lowered his hand to rest in his lap once more, watching the young woman quietly, awaiting the answer to what was possibly the most important question he had ever asked her.
