The next morning wasn't exactly what Erek was used to waking up with-- when he had a fling, it wasn't uncommon for him to wake up alone, often without even a note-- they knew what it was and accepted it entirely, that was the sort of thing he had grown used to. Sometimes there was coffee and a light chat before they left, but that was as far as it went. But this was different-- as his eyes slowly opened, finding the room in almost total darkness-- it had to be nearly evening, the sun was nowhere near the window any longer.
However, the thing that shocked him was not the darkness-- but the warmth pressing against his side. Blinking a few times to properly align his vision, Erek glanced down and squinted in the darkness to find that Sera was still wrapped around him-- perhaps even more tightly than before. It wasn't that he minded-- instead, it was more that-- he had absolutely no idea how to deal with it. Should he wake her? He had morning training to attend, so he supposed it was the responsible thing to do-- sighing softly he glanced down, opening his lips to call out to her as his free arm she hadn't trapped lifted, brushing her hair gently from her face-- and then he halted.
For some reason, everything stopped seeing her nuzzle into his arm-- her name dying in his throat as he, slowly, lowered his hand once more to rest on his chest instead. A brief sigh left his lips as his head fell back into the cushions-- he supposed letting her sleep a bit longer was fine. He was going to be teaching her again today anyway. Rubbing the bridge of his nose with his free hand, he simply let his gaze focus on the ceiling and debated everything-- the details of what had happened last night, the reaction he had just had, the odd way he had managed to hold back the beast for the first time.
Why was this woman suddenly so much more different from the countless others? He didn't know anything about her, and he knew he wasn't so petty that it was her appearance, race, or accent-- though he certainly found those attractive, he couldn't care less about it when it came to "romance" if that's what this could even be called. So why, exactly? What was so different about her?
Perhaps it wasn't her-- was it something else? What else could be different that would affect his eye for romance-- he'd never had any interest in such things in the past. His face turned to a slight frown, he couldn't figure it out, and he was fairly sure that this-- much like his feelings when it came to his clan-- was something he could only go off his instincts with. Surely, eventually, the answer would come to him-- until it did, should he just play along with these odd feelings? Was that a responsible decision to make when he barely knew the woman?
Another sigh-- he was doing that a lot this morning it would seem. He simply didn't know the answer to his question-- but his instincts hadn't steered him wrong yet. Logic had its role, but logic was based on knowledge you currently had-- instinct was something more primal, he'd just have to trust his guts judgement for now he supposed.
