While she was weird, Janus did like her own personal brand of insanity. She did like her tea however and nodded at Alexandra maybe just to be nice, pouring tea was not rocket science. Though, rocket science might be easier if any of those upper-class videos and shows she had seen were real. "Thank you for doing the dishes." She said as she sipped at the tea. She said thinking about the question.
"Hard to say to be completely honest? As a child I would randomly remember conversations no one else had with me, or that had changed and then gone back to square one. At first it was small things like that, seeing myself pick up a pencil, and blink to be standing over it. Thinking I went to sharpen one because I thought about doing it and made the decision to do it. Then I would find the un-sharpened pencil in my hands. Eventually it became more prevalent, and I just sort of cracked under the massive amount of potential choices that free will gives people. Seems to be correlated, it's why I don't tend to hang out in public, public places mean more people, means harder to see, more futures." Janus responded. "So how did you make those green things that seem to fade in and out of existence?"WC-222 TWC-3512
Sasha knew as she listened to Janus that the latter must have had a very complicated childhood. She also knew that she wouldn’t want to have that type of gift. Even if the possibility of the future were bared to your eyes, they simultaneously made you blind for life. This price she had to pay was too high for the uncertainty she got in return, at least in Sasha’s eyes.
“It’s eh.. energy, I guess. A light form of it, or rather a small amount, I guess.” Placing down the cup she opened her hand with palm facing the ceiling. Slowly the reiatsu started to seep from her hand, pale, light and refreshing in its floating. Some strands gently curled.
“You should have it too, I can feel it. The sensing is something I’m bad at, and I’m still learning how to properly control my abilities - it’s gotten better but there is much room for improvement.” Letting the traces of green fade, she kept her hand where it was. Instead of green, blue energy lit up her veins as reishi gathered through her blood to form a protective armor which was Blut.
“This is a technique we, the Quincy, use in fights with others who have powers.”
Leaning back while her hand returned to its naturally pale color Sasha bit her lip. “You have a strength to you as well, but you don’t hmm feel like a Quincy to me.”

Janus could not see it for the first few seconds, before it actually phased into her existence again. She had no idea how to do that, and she definitely had nothing like it. She sort of phased out the abilities part, Janus did not have any of those. She had her Divination. Though the concept of fighting other things that have powers, seemed like a really bad idea. She poked at one of the strands before she did not end up seeing the blue veins. Her perception made for a really unstable set of points. "Yea, fighting things with powers does not seem to be something that would be in my repository of skills. Neither is being strong to be honest." Janus grabbed herself after the comment.
Her hands moved up and down jokingly. "Yep definitely don't feel like a Quincy, then again I don't exactly know what they feel like anyway." She added deciding to sip at her tea again. "Definitely can't make strands out of thin air or energy." She stopped a second. "Otherwise I'd probably use that power to poke and prod at who or whatever I could. Are all Quinee's from Belgium?"WC-197 TWC-3710
For the first time Sasha was the one who appeared to know more about the spiritual world than the person she was talking to about it. The idea threw her somewhat off guard. Knowing more about the Quincy wasn’t something uncommon - even if most of her own kind were better educated at their history and abilities - she had explained stuff about the Quincy before. However, to speak of everything else to someone seemingly lost was a bit frightening.
Sipping from the green tea she stared at the cup in Janus’ hands. Somehow she was sure that she too could form the strands after some practice. Revealing one’s energy and the pressure it brought was something anyone with enough of it could do with some training. Perhaps, if Janus grew some more, then she would easier feel the flow.
“No, Quincy are spread over the world. A lot of them live in Germany and the north of Europe. Though, there are quite a few of them in Japan as well. This place, Karakura, it’s.. very attractive to everyone like you and me.” Vaguely gesturing she looked for words. “Everyone different gets to see and experience more here. So, due to some reason, this place is some sort of center for the supernatural.”
“Do you ever sense people? Not see them before they arrive, but feel that they are around?”
Post by Janus DiNapoli on Nov 3, 2017 12:41:49 GMT -5
Janus pulled up her teacup and sipped again. Sense people before they arrive, what? To be completely honest, she had never sensed anything, she just saw things. That's how Divination worked as far as she could tell or research. There were lots of cases of it in history, stories past, psychics that claim to see the future and some probably did. Though, as far as making energy, or being supernatural. Those were pretty much as foreign as the idea of Quincy to Janus. Center for the Supernatural? Karakura? Aside from frequent terrorist attacks, there was no way this was a center for anything. That's why Janus had run here when she left Italy.
"Never, just my Divination magic, it has other uses, aside from just seeing futures. But if you're talking about people that phase in and out of reality, then I've seen them, piecing together futures where I can see and hear them for extended periods is taxing. Why is that like a normal thing for Quincy?"WC-170 TWC-3880
“Yes, that’s pretty much how it starts. I mean, at first I didn’t feel or see anyone that, well, isn’t supposed to be there, I guess. Seeing them soon became feeling their presence. You’ll understand once you’ve felt it, I think.” Folding into herself she silently stared for a moment.
Maybe it was better for Janus not to become that much aware of the Shinigami and Hollow. The knowledge brought a certain danger with itself. Once you were a part of the spiritual world it was very hard to pull back and stay on the sideline. Some attracted you, others were attracted by you. Everything became an intertwined mess.
“Hmm?” Her voice disappeared for a moment, she coughed to gain it back. “Yeah, that is kind of normal for Quincy. At least, most Quincy are aware of them. Some become a part of it later than others. For example me,” she got a hold of the cup but didn’t drink from it. Instead, she used her free hand to jab a thumb at her own chest. “unlike a friend of mine I wasn’t trained during my childhood, wasn’t prepared for.. any of it.”
A shrug, a sip. She put the cup back with a previously missing gentleness. Something shifted behind her green eyes. The light frown happily crawled back onto her forehead. With the back of her hand Sasha tried to get rid of it and failed.
“It’s different for everyone, but the majority of the Quincy pass down the history and the knowledge they’ve gathered through the ages onto their children and so forth.” Not that it made things a lot better. When you read the records and looked at the world now, it almost felt as if time had been frozen for all of this time that’s passed. Barely anything had changed. She found it somewhat painful to look at.
“If you would want to learn how to see them better, I can try to help you. Of course I’m pretty much a new face to it as well, but still, it might come in handy. I can sense you which means that others can too.”

If only she did not think it was all a dream. Janus had felt it once, gotten her soul knocked the fuck out of her body and passed out. She listened to the fact that Alexandra had not been trained for it. Whatever any of it was, that was part of this bag of worms that in reality Janus did not care about. She sipped her own tea again, she had already lost sight of the weird blue armor a while ago, but had seen futures where she retained vision. To be honest, she had no clue what to say, too many good questions and all of them were not as useful as she wanted them to be. She sighed to herself and thought about asking for help, but she did not think it would work. Janus never did see her power as spiritual, it was reactionary and magical more than spiritual or energy. Janus always had the idea that if Divination existed, chances were that other types of "mages" existed as well.
"So can you throw fireballs too or just create armor?" She asked completely seriously.WC-189 TWC-4069
The Blut faded. There had never been any need for it and Janus seemed to have missed its presence altogether. From time to time her eyes appeared to be looking at Sasha but not quite seeing her. It had the Quincy wonder if talking to the oracle was always like this. The fact that she had asked about where she came from twice made a bit more sense now that she’s gotten a sort of explanation about the woman’s ability. With the visions confusing her enough to forget what’s real, well, Sasha saw it as a very frightening experience.
But Janus didn’t look scared, only dreamy.
“No fireballs for me, only arrows, but they aren’t made from fire. I’m not even sure what it feels like to be hit by one of them. Never stabbed myself so far, thank god.”
Unsure if Janus thought that comment to be funny, she minimized the grin that’s been accompanying the words. For all she knew her conversation partner would deem her insane now.
Not that she is your average chef, the thought had her smiling mildly. Traces of amusement seeped through her green eyes. She took a deep breath, finished the cup of tea and let it roll from one hand to the other. Then, looking up she asked.
“Do you mind if I get some more tea?”
Indulging herself with more matcha she wondered how to go about Janus now that it was clear she didn’t really see the world as some spiritualists did. The seeing went far beyond what a pair of normal eyes was capable of. Perhaps that was the problem. It ate at Sasha because didn’t know what to do now.

Arrows of Energy, Janus went wide eyed at that. She could definately not do anything that cool. Whoever wrote stories about seeing the future, had no idea what it was really like. Alexandra can shoot Arrows of Energy. How cool was that? She was definitely in another dream right now. Her subconscious must have been trying to make new people for her to interact with. Like that woman who she could barely remember, or the cute kid! She blinked at the tea comment, she did not really know what to say, she wanted to blurt out something like "Can I see" but figured it was in bad taste. The next line of questioning was a bit weird.
"Oh, sure have some more tea, and I can't see that far. You have free will." She said before explaining. "Every time you think about making a decision, for instance, if I said do you want to see what's in my right hand or my left hand? " She said holding out her palms closed. "Each answer you pick, can lead to another question, and another and another, so it branches off rather quickly. Now imagine if you had five choices, that lead into twenty more. I don't like being in large groups because it severely limits my ability. Whoever writes about future sight, farsight, or oracles. They don't actually have this power. But if something is say a Robot, or automatic, it's very easy to see what it's going to do because it does not have the ability to make choices. I can't say the same about Artificial Intelligence, cause I haven't encountered it yet, so do you stay here? That's entirely, your choice. Oh and the limits of my focused 'Path Walking' is about two hours if no one interacts with me and chaos doesn't interfere, but it takes a good fifteen minutes of focus for me to see that far. " She nodded graciously. "Would you like to stay Miss Alexandra?"WC-330 TWC-4399
Sasha stared at Janus’ hands like a kid would have stared at his unwrapped gifts on Christmas morning. Blinking slowly she traced one hand and then the other. Her mind knew that there was nothing inside. She didn’t need to make a choice, yet she found herself wondering if she could ‘beat’ Janus’ sight by changing her decision should there have been something in the palms of her hands.
Probably only if she cheated and changed her mind during the time her newfound friend here was figuring out the path that’s been taken. Maybe, just maybe, they could try that sometime. If Janus would want to, of course.
Would they be friends? Would she leave? Would they ever cross paths again if she did?
Stupidly asking herself questions while staring at the pair of hands in front of her she didn’t register the question when it was dropped. Well, not at first. It took her a second too long to look up. She blinked again, eyes slightly wide with imagination.
“I er, yes, I would love to, if there is a room free.”
Nobody was waiting for her in the apartment. She had no classes the next day and her research could wait. The money to spend one night here shouldn’t be a problem and the idea of making a friend who was both ‘special’ and a wonderful chef could not be ignored.
“Unless you mind?” She hesitated a bit when asking thinking Janus might have already heard the question before.

It was a simple trick, like her gambling or guessing a number but it was very explanatory to Alexandra, which made Janus' life a little bit easier. It also proved that Janus' power was quite literally, not all that people thought future vision was up to be. Or, Janus hoped it got the message across. Janus had lots of rooms, the small BnB had six in total and usually only one if not none were occupied. She nodded and laughed.
"You are more than welcome to stay." She said in an upbeat tone. "I love customers. Can I offer you anything else at all Alexandra?" She asked sweetly with a grin. "Oh and one more point, YOU CAN SHOOT ARROWS, DO YOU KNOW HOW COOL THAT IS?!"WC-129 TWC-4528
“No, I’m.. I’m fine, thank you.” A small smile marked her lips now, permanently. She chuckled. “As long as there are a couple of towels in the room, I’ll be fine.” Because a shower was really something she would be able to use before going to bed later on. Some of her muscles were still tensed from her trip in the mountains. Not to mention the potential dirt in her hair.
“That’s not it, haha, I mean, it’s nothing really special. Certainly not compared to you.” Thinking about it she realized how true that was. Quite a lot of people had ‘gifts’ of some sort, relatively speaking of course, but most of them were very different from Janus’. The more she thought about the sort of clairvoyance the woman across of her possessed, the cleared the world became.
All these myths and stories, gods and goddesses, everything was based on some sort of truth. Where the monsters and demons could easily be Hollow which have shown their faces to the spiritually aware inhabitants of the old world, oracles and heros were mortals and perhaps Shinigami.
“I would show you but we don’t want to emit extra energy and accidentally lure a Hollow.”

"Yea, I don't know what that means?" Janus said evenly to Sasha's new set of random word that did not make any sense in the context it had been used. "We'll leave that for another time though, my lady. Will you be staying at Tokei Aruki?" She asked looking at her watch. It was almost time for her get to work again. She wanted to stay but those were the issues with being the only employee at her place most of the time. She had a few people to take shifts when she needed to go out and make money.
"And I am sad to say, that I need to get back to work in a few minutes." She said nodding to Alexandra and searching the potential futures for her chores more than anything else. She still needed new linens in rooms 4 and 6 and some other small adjustments to things like faucets. Her power was actually quite good for handiwork. She thought to herself.WC-167 TWC-4695

“Yes, I assume that you need to fill in my name and such?”
Getting up she nodded once to show her understanding about getting back to work. If people were to arrive for dinner and the chef was chilling with some random girl that had just pulled up into the parking lot, well, she could imagine it being bad for business. Customers never liked to wait, and certainly not without a good reason.
“Perhaps we can have some breakfast together in the morning?” Sounding rather hopeful, she waited to follow Janus and move into -what she assumed to be- the lobby. Everything went smooth. Janus took it upon herself to write down her name, then her card number. Sign here, get the key to her room. Some smiles here and there, and then she was on her way to find her bed for tonight.
The halls were empty. Everything around her was very neat. The woodwork was nice, the colors went well with the picked decorations and briefly she regretted not having asked if Janus was the actual owner of the little B&B. Judging by the way she had decided that Sasha could indeed stay, that might well be the case.
Pushing against the door after turning her key she stepped inside and started to explore the room she had been assigned.

The rooms at Tokei Aruki were well designed for private use, each one was a spacious 838 plus square feet, with a full walk in shower, only two of the six had tubs however. There were small bathrooms with sinks in each, western style of course, following Janus' home of Italy. The style is rather rustic, and the sheets are made up in black 800 thread sets. Two rooms have double extra long twins, two have queens, and the ones with the bathtubs have king size beds. Each room had four towels and a foot towel. Three hand towels, one on the sink and two extras. There were the usual amenities in each room, from shower caps and shoe storage to small bottles of the normal assortment of toilette-tries including mouthwash. Two small night stands, one on each side of the bed, and a smaller desk than any business person would have liked but that was not the usual client list for Clock Walk.
There of course were tvs, alarms, and a small blue tooth stereo for the room, so that if the customer wished they could listen to whatever music they preferred. Most of the instruments were in a bland cream that mixed well with the rustic wood to give off an odd sense of shadows caused by all the amenities. There was also heating and cooling in each room, except one that Janus needed to have fixed but the people were not coming for another few days. WC-250 TWC-4945
Slowly dabbing her hair with one of the towels she studied her face in the bathroom mirror. Green eyes framed by a pale face stared back at her. They were still shiny with curiosity but showed a bit of tiredness by now. The day had caught up on her during the long shower, and now all she wanted to do was to slip into the black covers.
After blow drying her hair that’s exactly what she did. Lazily stretching beneath the crispy duvet which was tightly wrapped around her body. She dragged the corner of it over her ear and buried her face in the pillow. Her mind were still wondering about Janus, but bit by bit her thoughts became hazier. As the warmth spread through her body she felt herself sink away into the softness of the mattress. With muscles relaxing she felt herself become heavier, her breathing turned slower, and soon she was claimed by sleep.
The next morning thin lines of silver seeped through the curtains she had forgotten to close. Some of them made it to her face, and after turning and twisting for another fifteen minutes while trying to ignore the sunlight, she decided to get up. There was no reason to waste time sleeping when she could discover breakfast and hopefully talk to Janus a bit more before going home. Stifling a yawn she dragged herself to the bathroom, tugged the fresh towel from its place and started to get ready.
About a half an hour later she was in the lobby once again. Her jacket hung folded over her left arm while she put the key onto the counter. A strand of hair followed her motion and fell in front of her eyes. She tucked it back into place, grateful to have found an emergency kit with a folded hairbrush among other things.
“Good morning, Janus.”
Usually she would have given the key after having had her breakfast, but without any stuff to leave in her room it didn’t really matter.
Post by Janus DiNapoli on Nov 6, 2017 3:18:53 GMT -5
Janus took the key and nodded, sliding it down into the lobby desk and looked Alexandra over. Things were getting weirder all the time. She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a pen, handing it to Alexandra. "The guestbook is behind you on the left, it's kind of my thing." Janus said standing up and stretching with a yawn. "Can I get you something to eat for breakfast?" It was obvious that Janus did not sleep much. There were reasons, but she liked to avoid them as much as possible. She was not someone to burden others with her problems, but she would usually help others with theirs. To be honest, she was a sucker for a damsel in distress, regardless of gender.
She had cleaned the kitchen thoroughly to avoid sleeping and had gone for a walk, ended up passing out around two in the morning and had woke up again at six and gotten dressed in slacks and a sweatshirt. Which one again did nothing to show what gender she actually was and keep most people guessing. She looked up at Alexandra and definitely knew it would not be the last time she met even if the future she walked out was the one she selected. That was not divination magic, that was just something Janus understand.WC-222 TWC-5167
She took the pen, got to the guestbook and wondered what to write. Ever since she was little she was bad at these type of things. Signing those ‘friends books’, holiday or birthday cards, everything that required her to be original blocked her. What did people usually write on this or that occasion she found herself wondering then. Right now was a bit easier. A positive reply to the stay and the delicious food she’s been offered the day prior rolled out of the pen as she moved her hand. Signed by ‘Alexandra ‘Sasha’ Ryurik’.
“Something small would be nice, but only if you have the time to join me.”
Not wanting to be in the way if Janus had a lot of things to do, she offered a somewhat shy smile with an apologetic twist of her eyebrows. Food was always good, but it was nice to have some company while you were having it.
“You can be honest if you’re busy. I’ll..” using the pen still in her hand she tugged at one of the smaller papers on the side of the counter. Quickly picking out an empty sheet she wrote down her number and added ‘Sasha’ to it. “leave my number in case you would want to call me later.” Even if they had breakfast first, the number would be of use. Maybe?
“Oh, and you’re free to call me Sasha, lots of people do, it’s a sort of diminutive for Alexandra. I’m half Russian.”
Post by Janus DiNapoli on Nov 6, 2017 17:15:12 GMT -5
Janus looked at the paper and nodded. "As you wish, Miss Sasha." She said politely and pulled out her phone and plugged in the number. Her last one had died after having mysteriously been dunked in water. She was going to have breakfast with Sasha but decided against it mainly because she did not really know what to do for the moment. She also had a weird idea she had come up with in her sleep deprived nature. "That pushing people out of their body thing, you know how to do it?" She asked vaguely, she had no reason to understand how else to say it. Janus gave her a rather vague look, she had a really stupid idea she wanted to test.WC-123 TWC-5290
“I don’t think so?” Honestly, she was pretty sure she had no idea what Janus was talking about. It was probably quite clear in the tone of her voice and from the look on her face. That’s why she cleared her throat, offered the palms of her hands in an apologizing gesture and corrected herself.
“No idea what you mean by that to be honest. Would you care to elaborate?” Because she sure as hell was intrigued by the thought of pushing someone out of their.. body. It sounded somewhat insane, and from what she had seen of Janus it might be a figment of her imagination, but so many parts of the spiritual life were. Hence, she patiently waited for an explanation of sorts.
There was a curious look on Janus’ face. Not exact curiosity one frequently emitted when finding something new but something that reminded Sasha of it. A certain willingness to do something that others might not.
“What are you thinking?”
She found her lips curling into a soft smirk. It probably looked a bit stupid on her, but she ignored that. For now encouraging Janus further was important, even if it was through some sort of childish desire.
“So, instead of breakfast we ..?”
