With surprise Kyojin watched how Victoria slapped Yuudai, even after she impacted on him and, according to him, broke a few of his bones.
But there she was, the Third Seat, demanding respect and obedience. Her strength was demanding respect and obedience. Kyojin could feel her strength radiating from her. Without any weapon she had stopped Ruby.
With her, with Ruby, Kyojin's problem was simply that she maybe was physically and spiritually strong, but mentally she was weak. At least it felt like that for Kyojin. Not even able to suppress her emotions for a few hours while she held these exercises.
Victoria on the other hand...she was cold, focused, controlled. And she had said what Kyojin also had expressed: that they should be out there. Should be fighting to gain back control after everything had gone into disarray. It was the job of a shinigami to protect the world of the living and guide souls to the Soul Society after all.
When the command came Kyojin stood at attention, his hands at his side. There was some strength in the right hands that truly deserved it's respect. At least at the moment. And she was the Third Seat after all.
"Name's Herleifsen. Brandt Herleifsen, Third Seat Aeserninus. I'm called Kyojin." Said Kyojin, when Victoria demanded to know who the Shinigami, she didn't know, were. He saluted properly and how he was trained as he spoke.
Although he stood at attention and followed proper protocol his face was calm and unmoved as always. The only thing that disturbed the image of a man carved from stone was his slightly swollen lower lip and the dark bruise on his chin. He remained silent after he had introduced himself, but his eyes spoke loudly. They spoke of his approval for Victoria's rejection of these exercises. And how he wanted to get out there to do what he, as a Shinigami, was trained to.
Another surprise came when Ruby excused herself, eyes closed and face frozen, turned around and started to walk away. That she would simply give in? For a brief a thought came to Kyojin's mind, that he maybe had judged Ruby wrong. That she maybe was just damaged, that the crisis had taken it's toll on her as it had on many. But then again, so many had lived through these years without loosing themselves.
