LOCATIONS
NPCs
NAME: | Karahashi, Mitsutaka | Known aliases include: Ripper, Jack the; James |
AGE: | 155 in total | 26 living, 129 dead |
SEX: | Male | Appears to be heterosexual. |
POSITION: | Current Captain Commander of the Soul Society. Captain of the Fourth for 2 years, member for 4. | Level 5 entity |
LOYALTIES: | Professed loyalty to the Seireitei. Questionable loyalty to Gilgamesh. | Manipulable on a scale of 5: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SWAY. |
APPEARANCE: | Stands at 6’2”. 160lbs: suffers from anemia, arrhythmia, insomnia. Skin is constantly below 90 degrees. Has not exhibited danger of heart attack; nonetheless, stay watchful. Wears common Captain’s garb of a white Haori (Fourth Division insignia) on black robes with white undershirt. Katana strapped to left side. Poor posture, exhibits restlessness and nervous energy. Face commonly devoid of emotion unless particularly overcome by the moment. White hair due to unknown cause. Has been known to wear black reading glasses and go without: vision seems unimpaired. Not careful about appearance—hair perpetually messy and clothes unkempt—this seems to be a result of absentmindedness, not slovenliness. Brown eyes. Handsome in an uncanny way. | In gigai wears clothes fitting for a 19th-century gentleman: white dress shirt, black slacks, vest with gold embroidery and gold pocketwatch hanging from chain. Has been known to wear waistcoat, tailcoat as well. |
THE MIND: | Mitsutaka is the embodiment of the Mind for this individual, and is the outer foil. This persona is in constant control except when sleeping (typically at hours 0200-0800) or when overcome by emotion. Appears aware of other foils. Speaks to and acknowledges Heart; data on interactions with Body unknown. Mitsutaka is a fracture from the start of this individual’s life as a spiritual being: extreme stress split him in three and the Mind was given dominance. Previously unaware of his past, this embodiment’s recent realization of his identity caused catastrophic shutdown. | Intelligent on a scale of 9: EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Mitsutaka’s strength is in the analysis and understanding of people around him; his sensing and observing abilities are off the charts and are not to be trifled with. Virtually un-manipulable unless by careful manipulation of his emotions or body, which constitute his two blind spots. Archetype of the Teacher. Archetype of the Counselor. |
THE HEART: | Kowareta is the embodiment of the Heart for this individual, and is the mentor foil. Resides in Mitsutaka’s Zanpakuto and controls Shikai, Bankai. Known more recently as Jack the Ripper, this foil took control of the host body when Mitsutaka withdrew and terrorized the Soul Society. Appears aware of other foils. Speaks to and acknowledges Mind; data on interactions with Body unknown. Kowareta is a fracture from the start of this individual’s life as a spiritual being: extreme stress split him in three and the Heart was relegated to the position of teacher. This embodiment is completely aware of his past life and has used it to manipulate Mitsutaka. Obtains dominance when the Mind is asleep or incapacitated. | Level 7 danger: EXTREMELY UNPREDICTABLE. Kowareta’s thoughts are his own and his motives are mostly unknown. Suffers from OCD and has a God Complex: believes himself to be the emissary of God and as such exhibits no concern for causal morality. Known stressors include: purity, femininity, betrayal. Will not hesitate to warp perception or memory in order to pursue vengeance or his understanding of justice. |
THE BODY: | Name unknown, appearance unknown. Embodiment of the Heart for this individual: the devil foil. Residence unknown. Interactions with other foils unknown. A fracture from the start of this individual’s life as a spiritual being, this embodiment was relegated to darkness by the dominance of the Mind, no doubt seen as an unnecessary danger. Has obtained dominance on only two occasions. | Scaling unknown. Motivations unknown. Known stressors include love, hatred and despair. |
ZANPAKUTO: | Mitsutaka’s inner world is a large schoolbuilding reminiscent of a 19th century college. In each classroom there is but one solitary desk or chair. The library houses every book that Mitsutaka has ever read, pages copied down perfectly. Separate volumes also exist, each pertaining to an individual or location that he has taken extensive notes on. This method of memory seems flawless but is only within reach when Mitsutaka withdraws into his inner world, leaving him outwardly vulnerable. Outside of the school oppressive buildings lean into the school’s area, coming closer when the world is placed under duress and bending away when the world is at peace. The consequences of letting the buildings touch the school or penetrate inwards is as of yet unknown. | Black Katana, nondescript. Of normal length and heft, well-balanced. Metal handguard and lacquered wooden hilt. |
ZANPAKUTO POWERS: | CONSTANT FIRST RELEASE. Gives Mitsutaka the ability to transform pain into pleasure and vice versa: this ability has been known to take effect on individuals he is physically close to. | SECOND RELEASE UNKNOWN. |
VAIZARD POWERS: | Believed to have become a Vaizard when captured by the Espada Tova Diablo during his invasion of the Soul Society. No concrete data exists besides vague Reiatsu indications; DO NOT CONFRONT THIS INDIVIDUAL ABOUT VAIZARDIFICATION. A past effort lead to that instigator’s exile from the Seireitei. | MASK RELEASE UNKNOWN. |
HISTORY: | Mitsutaka’s disillusionment has recently been shattered and the true events of his past have come to light: James was born to a loving family that encouraged his introversion and love of reading. However, his mother soon died of sickness and his father sought consoling in the arms of prostitutes and harlots. Enraptured by the idea of raising one of them up he took her into his house and she rewarded him with what seemed like love; however, at her hands James suffered cruel abuse and a festering hatred was born. After years of this he finally snapped and charged at the whore with a knife, but his father intercepted the blow. While he bled to death on the floor James cut down his false stepmother and ran from the scene, bleeding heavily from a long gash the woman had given his back in the struggle. Later he would claim an unknown man had done the deed and the excuse was easily accepted: given an idea by this business James soon took to the streets to continue his work under the rain that plagued his little town. As he came of age a sexual motive came into play as well, and the murders continued without end until he met a girl in secondary school who was unlike any other: Elizabeth. Her kindness and in time, love, changed James’ perception of the world and made him rethink his position in it. Slowly the murders stopped and he began to ponder his direction: his adopted mask was a man hell-bent on finding and killing the murderer, but she begged him to turn him in to the authorities when he was caught. Confused by sudden morality, James let his feet lead him onward until they found the way to her bed and the two united in a night of passion that further broke James apart. What was he to do now? Truly, he might have turned himself in until the day afterwards when he saw her talking amiably with a male colleague he’d always had suspicions of. Branding her a whore and a traitor no better than the rest of her sex he raped her and slit her throat, coming to his senses as she gasped out her last. Wracked by grief he denied her final request and stabbed himself again and again until the world faded from view. Once purified by a passing Shinigami he woke in the Rukongai a new man, led no more by his heart and body but by pure (and often cruel) reason. Devoting himself to the continuing study of psychology he traveled onwards, joined soon by his Zanpakuto spirit. Jack fell comfortably into the position of mentor, stricken by grief and unwilling to regain control for the longest time. After finding their way to the academy both Shinigami and Zanpakuto applied themselves harder than they ever had, attracting the notice of a previous Fourth Division Captain who convinced them to join the Research and Development Division. They spent many hours in a flowering garden secreted away from the rest of the Rukongai, and when Mitsutaka graduated he was confident in his abilities. He was ready. For more, read on |
