Kiriko stared at the roster in her hands, eyes sliding over the well-known names until they paused above one designation. Third Seat Ametsuchi Houmaru. Even during her long tenure as a recruit Kiriko had never had the chance to run into that man, his post in the Maggot's Nest was isolated, she'd never had the liberty or need to go there and he didn't seem to venture out much. It was a good sign of his dedication, though Kiriko still recalled the notes in his file, scrawled so neatly, that indicated her Captain's desire for Ametsuchi to work on his hand to hand skills. It was only natural given his position, he wasn't just handling weaklings who were happy to have a roof over their head down in the Nest.
That note had been put there a while back now, she remembered when Tsukimiya-taichou had told her to write it. Kiriko wondered how Ametsuchi was doing, if he had fulfilled the request of their Captain or not. With her new clearance, it was perhaps high time that she go find out. Enter the illusive lair and poke the lion, that sounded like a fun game today. It had been some time since she'd dealt with anyone who'd been here longer than she had, it was almost a pity that they hadn't met earlier because now she would have to deal with annoying formalities and distance that would force her to be circumspect about how she answered those questions from her Captain.
Slipping her arm into the white haori that had belonged to Kyousuke, complete with blood stains on the back, she smoothed the material fastidiously. This was her new rank, Acting Captain. It was more than a word, more than a weight. It was the reason she went to the mirror to double check her tight bun, and the reason she gripped Aneue so tightly as she picked the sword up from off her desk. Duty carried her out the door towards the hidden entrance to the Maggot's Nest, but it was curiosity that forced her to pause in front of Ametsuchi's office door once she had gained entrance, staring intruiged at the dark wood.
She could sense him inside, moving slowly, no doubt he sensed her too if he was focusing at all on things. She had a sharp aura now, only fitting for the new state of affairs. But still Kiriko wasn't sure which event or what battle had garnered her this kind of strength, it just seemed natural now that she had it. Rapping her knuckles against the door frame Kiriko stood tall and at attention, her face impassive as she heart the rattle of the door knob and the creak of hinges. “Good morning Ametsuchi-san. I am Lieutenant Chinda Kiriko, your Acting Captain. I apologize for this meeting having taken so long to occur, you are a busy man and hard to pin down as am I,” she spoke softly, her voice firm and ironclad. These were simple facts, little details, but it was worth the effort to be seen as the one in control of this situation. She might have sought him out, but she was the one above him and she wasn't going to let any of her subordinates forget that any time soon.
