Kenshou was wiping off his sweat with a towel and throwing it off to the side, the towel landing on the porch portion of his personal house in the fifth division. He reached down picking up the sheaths he had set aside and walked inside the house, the mess was bearable, but not ideal or clean in the slightest. Paper reports stacking up everywhere all of them being ignored and barely touched. Kenshou always seemed to be three months behind in paperwork and never really caring. Stripping down Kenshou stepped into the attached personal bath house, he had chopped the wood and set the fire before training. The water had warmed and it was a perfect temperature to relax in, he sat there in the water while the air around him was full of steam. The mist in the air creating a fog like presence, it gave Kenshou time to clear his head and think about the current affairs. As it was the paperwork sitting in the other room was useless, it was currently being stored in a closet in the main part of the division until he really could send it somewhere. More importantly this was the realization of a disturbing fact, there was no one really running the Gotei or Seireitei at all. Either Gilgamesh did not care, was dead, or had abandoned them. Kenshou was inclined to believe the second, after all no one had seen or heard from him after Tova’s destruction of Seireitei. On top of that the Captain Commander had not be seen in some time, not that Kenshou trusted Mitsutaka. The man had betrayed them all, bringing in Tova who had accused him of being an abomination and then almost killed several people. He also had assisted Gilgamesh in his dictatorship takeover of the Gotei. It seemed that now more than ever there was a need for those who were left in some kind of leadership position to do something before any more damage could be done to the Gotei, if the arrancar decided to invade at this point they would probably be able to cripple them to a point where they could never recover from. It seemed he would have to call in the few captains that were left, Junko, Noaruji, and the acting captain of the second Kiriko. He did not know much about the acting captain of the second, but he knew she was good enough to keep the second going even with a missing captain.
Finally knowing there was real work to be done and not just busy paper work Kenshou stood from the slowly cooling water. He grabbed a clean towel and dried himself off, the clean feeling felt like a good omen for the upcoming task. He walked over and opened up the drawer that kept his Shihakushō, pulling out his clean and undamaged one for more formal occasions he put it on. He then pulled out something that would be more of statement for those in his division then anything else. He pulled out Artix’s haori. While it was a bit big on him, he was able to make it simply loose by tightening the belt. The haori had cuts and holes from battle all over it, it also had the tattered symbol of the fifth on the back. Different than his own haori this one lacked sleeves and was more suited to Artix, it was almost as if Kenshou was finally donning the responsibility left to him by the past generations of captains. It was nothing more than a statement that Kenshou meant business, something only those in the fifth would understand and that was something he wanted them to know. Times had been tough and they were recovering well, but morale still had taken a beating. This would hopefully bring it back as Kenshou was going to take lead on this recovery if he had to. He hated to admit it, but Hikari had been right about it so many years ago. Kenshou needed to stop his old ways and be an example, now more than ever when he was a captain. He could not get away with lazing about forever as he had back when others could pick up the slack. Kenshou grabbed his blades and placed them in the sash and stepped outside, he looked around and breathed deeply one last time before setting out. The fresh air and blue sky were so nice and calming, if things had gone the right way it may be the Artix would still be captain, Hikari his lieutenant, Kenshou sitting in that third seat. So much had been taken from them and lead to a path where his previous teachers were dead and he was all that was left. No one left alive knew of how he came to be the abomination he was, only a few knew of his true personality. It was hard to wonder why so much had been taken from them for nothing to come to fruition from it. A survivor, that was what Artix and Hikari had made him and now he was going to ensure that the fifth understood what it meant. To sacrifice everything so that another could survive, a lesson he had learned the hard way and hopefully one that others would be able to learn without having to experience it.
Kenshou walked out to the main building where he knew that there would be recruits lounging about enjoying some deserved off time, making their own friendships and bonds. They would be betting on games, eating, drinking, and more. All the things Kenshou used to do himself before he had become a captain, it was not a good thing for an officer to fraternize in situations like that with his subordinates. It was better for him to associate himself through training, to set a good example. Even with that Kenshou had found himself in here occasionally to participate in the occasional drinking contest. Arriving inside Kenshou cleared his throat and watched as every eye in the room fell on him and the conversations died. He pointed to a few recruits who were faster than their peers, having joined the division to train under Kenshou himself he imagined. He gave each one instructions to go give the captains of the second, third, and sixth divisions a verbal request to meet in the first division. They would meet up in the old captain commanders chambers just like times of old. Either they would confront Gilgamesh who had holed himself up there are they would find themselves alone and they would know he had abandoned them or been killed. He sent them on their way and then headed to the first division himself, he would wait in just outside the old captain commander chambers. It was high time something was done. They needed real leadership and it was time they replaced captains who had become stagnate. After all there was never a better time than the present, the thoughts kept him going until he managed to reach the first division where his haori allowed him easy access to his destination. There he waited for people to arrive, it would not be long he imagined.
