thanks. Yah...it reminds me of middle school art class too.....but those were the days!! Nowadays I hardly have time to sit down and draw, or paint anything. But......the white, blue and black dragon is my fav!
There are a lot of great illustrators who started out doing hyper stylized. But more often than not the best artists start with the fundamentals. Even Picasso could draw still-life. Just because he chose to do crazy shapes on a canvas doesn't mean it was all he was capable of. on the contrary, if he started that way I'm sure his work wouldn't have had the same impact due to what you learn while doing still lives about the natural aesthetics of the world around you. In addition to finding what kind of stylization technique works best for you.

Nah, fuck book learning.
Draw what your hand guides you to draw and learn as you go from your experiences. Never learned a damn thing from art classes, I just used them as 'medium exploration hour'.
I have never even drawn or used a skeleton or framework for anything I've created, I just up and go.
