[ ON THE SURFACE ]
Physical Description: Rick possess light blonde hair that goes just past his chin in length, as well as coming down in front of his eyes. It’s usually straight unless Rick decides to style his hair to have a more spiked appearance with his favorite AXE gel. The light blonde color would actually remind you of pound cake, both in its shade and the softness of his hair when you run through it with your fingers. The color of his eyes takes on the pigmentation of gunmetal blue. Those type of eyes are cold, hard-looking, and shining. They also contain a lot of white in the iris. Guns are usually made of steel and when they're polished and oiled, they pick up blue highlights. Overall, Rick's eye color takes on a dangerous, ruthless connotation, and eye contact with Rick usually leads to an early assumption of his personality.
Rick contains a physically fit body, with only 14% body fat. His actual measurements go as follows, with his chest being 50 inches, his waist being 35 inches, his arms/biceps being 20 inches, and his legs/thighs standing at 31 inches. As a Caucasian male, Rick’s skin tone is mildly pale, but contains a small shine to it as if he was oiled. He has broad shoulders and a fierce dark face. It was a face to be dominated by, or to fight; never a face to patronize or pity. Rick has been blessed with a clear complexion, with the only abnormality being the small scar in the shape of a dash on his left eyebrow, towards the edge. The scar was received during his early childhood, which was also around the same time he became spiritually aware. It's significance to his past is the reason why Rick never got the scar surgically removed. The eyebrows themselves are thin and slightly pointy, having the same color as his hair; they also help to compliment his short eyelashes. Rick’s sideburns are also thin, and he sports a short beard with a soul patch right under his lower lip. His ears are small, and his nose is skinny and straight. Rick also displays high cheek bones, with lips that could be seen by others as narrow. And lastly, Rick has straight white teeth with a square jaw. All his movements are large and perfectly balanced, like those of a wild animal. Sometimes Rick can be seen standing with his hands behind his back, and it takes on the likeness of being in an “at ease” position. Rick is also exclusively left-handed, all because of the small saying he heard as a child that went along the lines of “Those who rule over the left, can rule the world.”.
As for his clothing, Rick wears an all-black formal suit made by Versace for business occasions. The blazer is fully lined, double vented, with a two button closure. Flat-front slacks add a modern touch to the timeless look. The jacket is single-breasted, containing grosgrain silk facings on a notched lapel. A notched lapel is considered less formal, so it is able to be worn on any occasion. His trousers have a single silk braid covering the outer seams and are also fitted. His outfit also contains a white dress shirt with white buttons; the dress shirt has Portofino cuffs along with silver cufflinks, with a detachable turndown collar. His black socks go along with his black patent leather Oxfords. One of the defining features of his outfit is the Quincy symbol that’s located on the left shoulder, with the length reaching as far as his left breast.
In casual occasions, Rick settles with a small white tank top that looks pretty tight on his huge body, but comfortable. Rick sports a black pendant on his neck in the shape of a small pistol, a little trinket he received as a gift from his high school sweetheart a long time ago. As for pants, Rick would wear a pair of denim jeans, specifically wearing a Levi brand. This footwear cycles between a white pair of Adidas, and a well kept pair of Timberland boots. Rick sports that look a lot during the summer time, or whenever he decides to cut his hair shorter than usual. When it gets colder, that look is cycled through with a khaki jacket and a black beanie hat.
Spiritual Description: Rick's spiritual pressure sort of reminds an individual of a hungry wolf in terms of how it feels. Exposure to his Reiatsu definitely feeds an individual's imagination, directing one to a dramatic scenery of animalistic intent and ambition. It's unblinking, focused, and without fear. The iconic presence of Rick's Reiatsu takes the form of a humanoid creature that is holding a pair of beads, along with assuming somewhat of a buddha like stance. The ghostly appearance could only be seen in a little more detail if one was to focus, resembling Hi Randi Ashia. However, the other side of Hi Randi's face shows something sinister. Representing his sacrifice for progress, and the shared burden the rest of his lineage must share. Staring into this aspect of its' face is a different ball game, it can only be described as the edge of madness. The color takes on the traditional color of the Quincy blue. However, there is a small presence of black swirl within the contents of the hue, the taint of Rick's clan from the spiritual genes that was used to create the hollow bait.

[ BEHIND THE EYES ]
Personality: Rick demonstrates the ability to think abstractly and come up with extremely innovative ideas. His imagination power has the capacity to take him to great heights, not only standing as an idealist but as a great coordinator in battle. This also fuels his Holy Relic inventions. Rick is usually able to express himself and keep an open mind about how the world works. Bearing a great imagination towards shaping the future, this stands as one of the main character traits that Rick has. Rick would treat others just the way he himself would want to be treated. In his perspective, to be kind is to be compassionate. Compassion is the ultimate and most meaningful embodiment of emotional maturity. It is through compassion that a person achieves the highest peak and deepest reach in his or her search for self-fulfillment. In Rick’s case, he achieved such satisfaction from showing that same level of kindness towards others.
Another basis of Rick’s main personality is the fact that he always relies on instinctive reasoning, rather than logical. He’s so in sync with his feelings that he completely relies on his fully developed sixth sense to make his decisions. In a sense, the good thing about this personality trait is that in a world full of spiritual beings, having more faith in the capabilities of your soul is more beneficial than to try to counteract this world with logic. His reliability on his own intuition also grants him a specific level of optimism that can be used to help motivate other individuals as well.
Rick's build can fool any man, his eyes are as hard as steel. But, once you get to know him, you would figure out that Rick is a little more sensitive compared to the average male. This brand of sensitivity spreads upon the concept of being discreet and careful about his words of choice. Rick personally avoids derogatory terms and labels, and always makes the strong effort to purge them from his vocabulary. Rick is often displaying a quick and delicate appreciation towards the feelings of others, for all men (and women) are created equal. This form of sensitivity does not only fall under his natural social interactions but the world around him. His senses are highly attuned, and process even the small hints of change that everyone seems to ignore. It's mostly due to the fact that Rick is unable to take anything at face value, so it leads to him thinking that something might be wrong or off, even if the average person wouldn't think so. For a man who thinks loyalty is only a crutch for those who don’t know what they want to do with their life; Rick can’t really say that he’s any better than them. Rick is willing to put his life on the line to help others because of his own beliefs that society cannot exist without solidarity. This is also due to the fact that Rick personally believes that society is what makes us human in the first place. No matter how occasional, and no matter how situational, there would come a time when an individual would have to buckle up and do what’s right. There’s a hint of his military norms and values coming to light with this particular character trait, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. His selfless deeds may not always be acknowledged or appreciated, but Rick will never regret his decision to do so.
However, it's not all great when it comes to Rick's personality. Rick has a hard time of either assuming responsibility for his actions, or facing the negative things in his life and simply accept it without excuses. Another way of escaping for Rick is resorting to alcohol, or smoking weed as a recreational activity that he does way more than he intends to. He would do almost anything to forget the neglected duties he has as a Quincy, not trying to think about the lives he could have saved during his time of ignorance. He takes it hard, invents new ways to kill, all for the sake of making up for situations that he couldn't change in the past, and never being satisfied with his progress after all that hard work. If Rick’s expectations don’t follow through to what he intended in the first place, he usually loses the motivation to carry on. This leads Rick to perform actions halfheartedly, as if he’s testing the waters of where things might lead, and back out as soon as things don’t particularly go his way. Rick's strive for status also leads him to be jealous of others, he hates being overlooked or not being considered during important decisions. Even in terms of power, Rick can't help but to size up those with higher Reiatsu than him, ever wanting to give them an opportunity to at least mentally walk all over him. Rick's jealousy is actually the most dangerous, the higher the success of his peers, the more Rick wants to take it from them. Usually, when Rick has a specific idea in his head or a decision to do something, it's pretty hard to derail him. It shows in the way that he's still trying to reach Takua's level, even though the gap has been so astronomically vast in terms of strength. Telling Rick to give up on such a goal will only fall on deaf ears.
Goals & Achievements:
Goals
Flourishing the Holy Relics Department- One of Rick's current goals involves being good at his job as the head of the Holy Relics Department. By doing so, Rick can supply the Quincy with new material or the discovery of old Quincy Holy Relics that can be modernized for further use. Leads to explore ancient tombs, words of power that can be exploited with Quincy constructs to give desirable effects, or even books that Rick can read up on in order to create and invent more relics would be useful. Rick is willing to venture into hell if it means finding a new Holy Relic that can benefit the Quincy, as well as himself.
Teaching- Being a master is not as satisfying as bringing people up to the same level that he is. Rick is willing to teach everything he knows whenever he can, all due to the fact that passing on the skills is what promotes growth inside the Quincy organization. By doing so, the base fighting force will be better equipped and formidable. Rick seeks to learn all that he can, all so that he can pass it on to the promising Quincy that comes after him. Calendrea has awoken Rick's love for having students, and because of her, Rick is more open to the idea.
Deciding the fate of his birthright- The nemesis of the Ashia clan has rose once more, or at least an association of the hollow that served as the base for hollow bait. It was the same hollow that put Rick in his coma, as well as siphoned so much Reiatsu from Rick that his strength is currently cut in half. Rick has a score to settle with that creature, and that creature wants the rest of the gene. Unearthing the truth and the Origin the hollow is the first step, but his chances of winning are completely up to him. Can Rick finally discard the taint forever? Or will something else happen?
Dealing with the Karakura Spiritualist Network "KSN"- Those KSN rules are being backed by a pretty strong Jian and an agreeing Adimus, but aren't so good for the Quincy business. Rick is seeking an alternative to push back against the KSN, or at least protect Quincy activities from prejudice and backlash against the KSN. So far, he can't help but to think about busting up the organization altogether if they go too far, but he does seek alternatives or like-minded individuals in order to assist with that.
Reconnecting with old Vigilance members- His brothers, his sisters, Rick considers the old Vigilance members as family. He seeks to reconnect with them and help them out if he can.
Reaching Takua- It's the long term goal that Rick can't seem to ignore. He is nothing more than a speck to Takua now, who has reached incredible heights. However, Rick still seeks to reach him, a person that he wants to beat no matter what. Seeking power so he can stand on equal terms, Rick honestly feels something would change just by climbing the ladder and beating Takua. On occasion, the feeling of the flames would bring about pain, as well as fury. Respect, admiration, and revenge, somehow creating a perfect loop that makes Rick want to pursue the hollow, as well as beat down any rivals that go after Takua as well. Rick feels as if he has to be the one to do it, no matter the cost, even if it means being the devil.
Achievements
Invented the Bauen Brille "Construction Goggles"- One of Rick's greatest achievements was the creation and mass production of his iconic goggles. Through the use of ancient artifact inscriptions, a few suggestive instructions and cybernetics allowed for Rick to create a Holy Relic that allows for the creation of soul synthesized constructs, replication of already existing synthesized constructions, or a scan and copy of a blueprint or an existent construct in order to replicate and create its soul synthesized construct.
Knighthood and becoming the head of the Quincy's Holy Relics Department- Rick's skills and invention very much impressed Freyleif Jökulsdóttir, and her trusted knight, Lucas Lightner. Not only was Rick was allowed to give some oversight on a few construction projects for the Quincy, he also became the head of the Holy Relics Department.
First Respondent in Karakura Town's Insurgence- When the Hollows attacked, Rick was one of the few spiritually aware humans that weren't injured enough to fight back. Rick took it upon himself to search and rescue survivors amongst the carnage that was left behind by the Hollows.
Head of the Ashia Clan- It wasn't easy to convince the long time members of the Ashia clan to allow Rick to be in charge, but Rick's charismatic attitude and honest feelings towards defeating hollows has swayed the distant side of his family to follow behind him,
Former Squad Captain Of Vigilance- During his Vigilance days, Rick's success actually allowed him to be nominated as one of the three squad captains of the organization.
Sucessful mission to stop the Dark Serpant from taking over Adimus- Rick was sent in wiith a squad of a few others in order to derail the Serpents plans of overtaking Adimus. The mission involved venturing into an active volcano and disarming the crazed citizens of the island as well. Rick was even abe to set aside his differences and work with Takua to achieve this goal. It was one of the many trials that mae all the difference in getting Adimus back on track.
[ GUARDIAN ANGEL ]
Quincy Cross: Titan* Rick’s Mekkakyu is a three-dimensional shotgun necklace and is cast in solid 14k. gold. The shotgun pendant measures approximately 58.1 mm (just over 2 1/4") long including the bail, 6.7 mm (1/4") wide at the gun stock, 3.9 mm (just over 1/8") wide at the barrel and 2.3 mm (just under 1/8") at the thickest point. The shotgun pendant weighs approximately 4.1 grams. Rick wears it around his neck at all times, and it never leaves his side.

Schrift
Z — “The Zealot”
Every Quincy, whether they're aware of it or not, possess a Schrift: an idea that describes their unique abilities to others in a letter and a word. For Rick, this is "Z — The Zealot".
This Schrift describes the innate nature of Rick's powers. The actual shape of the weapon could have been anything, but it mostly took the form of a shotgun as a reminder of the past, love he lost to a hollow incident. She gave him that key chain as a gift, and with being unable to let go of his hate for the hollow breed that took her away from him, he continues to use it. In all actuality, blind zealotry was the only way that could describe the manifestation of Rick's power and it's purpose. It follows through on what he believes in, regardless of the cost, regardless of what stood in his path. Even if something stood in front of Rick with his own two eyes that spoke a different tale and derailed him from his thoughts, it would almost look transparent and fall on deaf ears. His conviction towards the purpose of the Quincy race is strong, so strong that it lies on the borderline of insanity itself.
First Release
Power: Rick's power specializes in firing off unique blasts that are effective against spiritual threats. With the first stage of his power coming into terms with his zealotry, being able to effectively combat whatever seems to stand as the enemy of the human race with a numerous amount of utility options is nothing more than the first step of his development. Each Rank opens up new type of blast that Rick has access to.
Beginner- Rapid Round: This technique is circled around one powerful casing that splits into a barrage of miniature blasts towards the opponent. It's normally used to overwhelm the target in question with a multitude of attacks.
Novice- Grenade Bomb: This particular technique in question is similar to a grenade launcher. When the slug is launched, it erupts into a blast of Reishi with an aoe spread. Even with fast-moving opponents, the shockwave alone from the blast is powerful enough to topple them over.
Journeyman- Glass Shrapnel: This technique involves one of the basic abilities of the Quincy that’s turned into more of an offensive assault. The Quincy’s ability to synthesize their Reishi into glass was used more for recreational purposes. This more adapted version of this ability allows Rick to fire a transparent blast of spiritual glass shards that skewer the opponent. The soul synthesized glass fragments on contact, so a direct attack can wound an opponent and continues to feed upon a spiritual body to grow into a crystallizing state of soul synthesized glass.
Expert- Silver Cannon: This technique involves one of the basic abilities of the Quincy that’s turned into more of an offensive assault. The Quincy’s ability to synthesize their Reishi into silver was used more for recreational purposes. This more adapted version of this ability allows Rick to fire a spherical blast of spiritual silver in the form of a giant cannonball to crush the opponent. The reinforced alloy of the soul synthesized is packing an incredible power and density that breaks through most armor and the like.
Master- Tilgungsträger! "Eradication Beam": This technique is actually one of the special casings that Rick has in his arsenal, and can be considered as one of his strongest moves. A Quincy symbol would appear in front of the shotgun prior to firing, before releasing an amazing blast that can even rival a hollows cero. It actually serves as an anti spiritual energy blast, which erodes Reishi on contact.
Spirit Weapon: Titan’s fully released form resembles a single barreled, semi-automatic shotgun. It sports a black and silver design, regardless of the Mekkakyu being gold. The shotgun has a 12-gauge barrel and a recoil stock for more control. The Titan comes with a shotgun stock and a recoil pad to minimize the kick up to the point where it’s hardly noticeable for the user, and giving them complete control. And finally, the Titan has a pistol grip that extends downward below the trigger.

[ LEGACY CREATED ]
Origin:
Rick Rogers was born in the year 1988. The place of birth was in New York, Queens, the hospital was called North Shore University. The consistent parental figure in his life was his mother, Alicia Rogers. Rick was never too sure about the identity of his father, the only source of information that his mother told him was the basics, mostly surrounding his name and military background. His name was Francis Rogers, and he was a very estimable man, Francis received a bronze star for bravery back in the day. Concerning Rick’s mother, she studied psychology and sociology, receiving a master’s degree in both of respectable subjects. Alicia was a psychologist that conducted studies and experiments with human beings, and she helped many people cope with their mental disorders. She retired as a Quincy after giving birth to Rick, but could hardly stay away from the spiritual world she attempted to leave behind. In the end, she used her psychology background to serve individuals with special cases, people that were spiritually aware but didn’t contain any logical explanations for what they witnessed. That was her own way of repentance for backing out of a family tradition of destroying hollows, and raising Rick only added to the challenge of parenthood when he contained the potential of being spiritually aware.
Rick’s childhood was pretty mediocre; nothing really went on when it came to spiritual activity. He didn’t receive a lot of exposure, so perhaps it hindered his growth? Moving on, Rick lived in an A-frame house, and the structure always seemed so weird and unnatural compared to the neighbors living next to him. He also had a German shepherd named Marcus, that dog was Rick’s only friend for quite some time. They did about everything together, sharing a powerful bond with his canine protector. In terms of hobbies, Football was his favorite sport, and Rick tried his best to keep up with the Jets whenever they played on TV, regardless of the fact that he had a bedtime. Sadly, no matter how average and friendly he seemed, there were a few bullies on the block that had this unnatural fixation of harassing the kid with the hot mom. The extensive bullying was taken too far when they pushed Rick off his bike and attempted to steal it. Rick ended up being injured in the process, hitting his head on the ground pretty rough on the cement pavement. Believe it or not, that’s how Rick received his iconic scar on his left eyebrow. Marcus was a guard dog, and overreacted when Rick was assaulted. He bit one of the bullies on the leg and wouldn’t let go. The screams of help were heard around the neighborhood, and attracted police officer who was doing usual rounds. The current setting before him was sending different signals as opposed to what actually happened, and the police officer shot Marcus in the face.
Rick cried for days, he just lost my best friend in the whole wide world. His mom tried her best to console him, but Rick spent most of my time locked In his room. Even so, he would hear occasional barks and see Marcus whimpering next to his grave. Rick never understood what that meant, he thought his dog died. Rick never told his mom, only due to the fact that the situation seemed so unbelievable. Marcus continued to whimper near his grave for a week at sundown until Rick finally came outside to comfort him. It wasn’t easy, Rick was full of emotions, apologies, and regret. There was also a lot of hate for not standing up for himself, which made him seem vulnerable to others. However, the dog was at peace, and it seemed as if it only came here to comfort Rick instead. Marcus looked at Rick with honest eyes, as if he understood every word, and telling Rick that it wasn’t his fault. It was at that point that the dog finally disappeared, comforting his master before moving on. The sad and unexplainable event of what occurred made Rick spiral into depression at the tender age of seven. His mom was aware of what was going on, as well as trusting her better judgment towards Marcus having good intentions and appearing before them once more. Alicia decided that it was time for Rick to meet his grandparents, treating it as a vacation to Florida. That was the first time Rick ever flew on a plane, something he very much enjoyed.
Florida has been just like Queens in a sense, quiet and isolated up to a certain point. It was a good place for people to retire, just like Rick’s grandparents did. However, the house of his grandparents was one of the most interesting places he had ever been to in his entire life. The house was like a small museum, with portraits of men and women in white outfits. These people were called Quincy, Rick was apparently among their ranks. Rick continued to play it off as a children's story until he was shown something more concrete, observing the creation of a bow for the first time. Rick was astounded and shocked, no other magic trick could compare to what he witnessed. Rick stayed there for seven months and was taught the very basics of Quincy techniques and tactics. They always started young, so the training regimen was natural for his grandparents to instill into Rick. However, Rick wasn’t granted a Mekkakyu around this time; Alicia wanted to wait until Rick was old enough to make his own decisions. There was no real reason for Rick to complain, there were plenty of other tricks that his grandparents taught him to keep his interest. One of these abilities was the Quincy’s own form of chemistry in a sense, liquid capsules of Reishi that you can invoke with a few chants. Another technique became a personal favorite to Rick, making Reishi flow into the blood vessels to produce a beneficial effect in the body.
Yet, even with all these amazing techniques that were taught to him, Rick didn’t know the true meaning as to why they were taught in the first place. Either way, Rick had different ambitions as to what he would use his newfound power for, and those days at his grandparents’ house marked the actions Rick would take in the future. After coming back to Queens from vacation, Rick started using his abilities to cheat in sports, and for other personal gains. That was pretty much the circumstances of Rick's childhood.

Rise to Power:
There was a brief time when Rick got involved with the practice of his powers at his grandparents’ house, staying there for seven months. After getting back, Rick incorporated the next few years of his life into practicing the skills he learned. The only relevant time worth mentioning was his high school days, where Rick began to show bits and pieces of his mastery and control. At the age of fourteen, Rick was the center of attention at his high school during his freshman years. Plenty of stories were backing him; tales of success in his neighborhood football team got the varsity football team literally begging Rick to join. He loved it; he also enjoyed the perks that came with being on the squad. Usually, if you’re not doing well in a class, you fail off the squad. Rick wasn’t bound to that rule, even though he wasn’t a dummy in any kind of way. Nonetheless, because of his feigned athletic prowess, Rick was regarded as a prodigy that stood as the hope for the school. The Blacking high school probably had one of the most intimidating names and fantastic fan base, but they never won a championship. Rick took advantage of the opportunity, those who lack spiritual perception could hardly see that the feats he performed were simply based off the Quincy techniques Rick learned when he was a kid. These tools led him to become one of the most resilient football players on the squad, and Rick continued to milk them throughout the school years.
Blut was used to make Rick a lot more resilient in taking punishment. He only used it defensively, even though he wanted to pummel a few faces in from time to time. It was especially useful during a hazing period of a few jealous senior players that invited him to a small scrimmage with the rest of the team. Mind you, Rick didn’t hit puberty yet, so these individuals were towering over him. No mercy was shown for the precise ways that Rick was getting sacked in order to injure him, but it only made Rick strengthen the Blut in order to prevent that. At a point, those idiots end up hurting themselves if they ran into Rick at full force, the hazing was over just as fast as it started. When it came to be a running back, waves of reishi were usually formulated in order to coincide with the quarterback’s instructions. This involved setting up the path with his spiritual energy and focusing the energy at the soles of his feet so he could easily glide across. This took an unbelievable amount of spiritual control, marking certain areas of spiritual energy so that he could increase the velocity of his movement when he interacted with it, as well as keeping it stationary until he used it. During summer and winter break, Rick would attempt to enhance his skills with his grandparent’s teachings, who didn’t really know what Rick was doing with these skills.
With all of the potential that Rick contained, he used it all to cheat in sports. However, his mind wasn’t only about games, he thought of girls as well. Her name was Diana Ross, and the surprising thing is that she wasn’t the most popular girl in school, but she was one of the smartest. Dana was the daughter of the coach for the football team, and sometimes she would help her dad make unique plays that the football team could use to their advantage. Half of those plays were centered on Rick, but that was mostly because she liked him. Rick never remembered the exact time he fell in love with her, but he had a feeling that Diana was special. He wanted to impress her, which meant that Rick needed a new set of wheels. Besides football, Rick had a small passion of being a mechanic. His mom was always busy, so Rick felt inclined to help around the house and learn how to save money by fixing things. As a matter of fact, Rick thought they were a lot better off by crafting these things themselves through the use of spiritual alchemy. His biggest project that tested the extent of those abilities was around the time he started working on his first car.
Rick came across a 1969 Chevelle SS that was broken down and run off the road. It had a small note on the side of the car that said, “If you can fix me, you can have me.” If this meant that Rick can come to school in style and impress Diane, he was sure as hell going to try. Reading the blueprints of the inner workings of the car came with a small manual, something that Rick used to test every function of the car to see what exactly was wrong. For every single piece that was replaceable, Rick replaced it with a soul synthesized version of the material. The rubber for the wheel, the glass, and even the new engine was reconstructed by the use of reishi. There was a small problem though, Rick couldn’t get the color right on a few of the constructs. Thankfully, a paint job was easy to do and having chrome colored wheels only made Rick bring up the blatant excuse of having it ordered from Italy. It was all bullshit, but they bought it anyway. The reconstruction of a vehicle down to the finer details of the blueprints through the use of spiritual alchemy, it took three months, but Rick made it possible. He had talent, and his skills were only growing.

Call to Action:
So far, Rick was living a pretty good life. However, that was going to change soon, and the change was violent and unnatural. It was the final game of the season, Rick was running down the time, a few seconds of the last play. However, he was sensing something that he never picked up on before. For once in his life, Rick experienced his first hollow attack in broad daylight in front of all of these people. It seemed to be looking around with an irritated expression until one of its eyes moved over to Rick’s direction and came after him. For a hollow that wanted to eat him, it sure had a funny way of showing how much it wanted to savor the flavor by firing a cero at him. Maybe it liked the taste of fried human? Either way, Rick was lucky enough to dodge, by the use of riding the waves of Reishi. The blast followed him around and made its way to the bleachers as the spectators started to scramble. That was the biggest mistake of his life, Diana was caught in the crossfire, her life ending almost instantly because of the blast. Rick knew, he continued to run with tears in his eyes. He knew that she was sitting around the closest entrance to the locker rooms, the opposite side of the arena. Rick was mortified, there were a few weeks before graduation and one of the most significant people in his life was easily taken from him. Rick stopped running, anger taking over his mind with an attempt to take his chances with fighting the hollow head on. However, a man in black came by to attack the hollow, and murdered it viciously.
Prom and graduation were converted into preparations with numerous of funerals, with the cause of death being passed off as a nearby gas explosion. Depression wasn’t the exact word for it this time around, Rick was truly tormented by the fact that he lost someone he loved. No one saw it coming, they even ran towards the hollow by accident. It was his own personal hell by knowing that he was the only one in the area that could perceive the danger, but was only strong enough to protect himself. Speaking with his mother, Alicia didn’t really bat an eye. As a matter of fact, she gave him a little history lesson instead. This was about Rick’s Quincy background, and the truth was that he came from a long line of people who were considered extremists. The Quincy and Shinigami were actually on good terms, as long as they kept their reasonable amount of activity to a minimum for the sake of conserving the natural order of souls. This natural order was basically the cycle, a reoccurring sphere that probably keeps the world moving. However, the insurgents wanted to declare independence, and seriously put the emphasis in the name “Monks of Destruction.” No really, they were actual monks, and they believed that their way of exorcising was the right way to go about things. Retaliation was the motive, cleansing the world of hollows was made into a competition, and the insurgents soon began to concoct a plan that could help them get ahead.
This all started with one of the famous loyalists Hi Randi Ashia started performing experiments to break off from human limitations. He managed to extract the soul of a hollow to his will and molded it to his own. In addition, his hormones would give off a particular odor that attracts hollows, and he controlled these hormones by using some ancient form of Chinese medicine. By isolating the hormone and synthesizing it, this led to the creation of hollow bait. It was constantly employed, and hollows were brought to the slaughter. It was a heavy shock to the Shinigami, up to the point that they initiated direct combat with the rebels. Hi Randi died, but the Ashia clan still lingered on. The moral of this story is that the descendants of his genes could contain the same scent of hollow bait. It was weak and fainter with each passing generation, but it amplified the dangers of the family that contained such a scourge. Worst of all, it only affected the males.
Everything began to make sense now, the constant marks on the map of places that would be good for migration was an ongoing assignment of the family for spiritually sensitive individuals to get away. Desperately residing in areas with the lowest spiritual activity, this was all a part of the responsibility Rick’s family had to endure, the sacrifice that his mother made by retiring and settling peacefully. The deaths of those people at the football stadium were on him, and Rick felt as if he ignorantly continued to live his life as if he had nothing to do with it. Rick still graduated on time, but he still wasn’t ready to accept what occurred so long ago. He wanted to get away for a while to think about what he can do in terms of living his life in a way that Diana could be proud of, but he needed time to do it. In a desperate act to create some space, Rick enlisted in the military like his father did, all for a vain attempt at redemption by serving his country. Maybe it wouldn’t be good enough, but it would be a start.
Rick wanted to maintain a low profile and be away from death. He also wanted to work more on his technical skills, which made him ultimately decide to join the Air Force. After getting a high score on the ASVAB, the young Quincy received a two-year enlistment contract. Anyway, tinkering with things and reading philosophical books that Rick’s mom would send him was the only thing that would keep him sane. Another good thing about the air force was the fact that Rick was able to maintain his quality of life with the local dormitories and base housing units. Nonetheless, the idea of having something akin to an apartment was attractive, especially if he didn’t have a roommate. Rick’s job wasn’t exactly an easy one, repairing HH-60 helicopters at a military base in Spain was both the job and as much excitement as he was going to get. This was Rick’s life for nearly two-year until he received an envelope from his grandparents. It had a strange Mekkakyu in the shape of a shotgun and a small note with their best wishes and fears. It's completely unrelated to the keychain he received from his deceased girlfriend, but he held them both in his care and made sure not to mix them up.
This was also around the same time that Rick’s base was compromised with an attempt to steal a few of the helicopters, as well as destroying the rest. It sucked really; Rick was in the middle of working on an engine in the back room when the shooting started. Not only were they trying to steal the helicopters, but kidnap the mechanics that worked on them as hostages. Rick didn’t understand most of the situation, but it honestly made him wonder what he should do about it. Is it possible that Rick could kill human beings with his Quincy powers and shoulder the burden of their deaths? There was no real time to think about it, the militants didn’t hesitate in shooting whoever resisted. Grabbing his Mekkakyu tightly and pulling off the pendant, the Mekkakyu resonated with Rick’s Reiatsu and instantly formed into a shotgun. Rick immediately got to work and quickly started to shoot out the lights in the hanger to limit the vision.
After Rick got rid of most of the lighting, he completely relied on Reiatsu Perception to see. The ones that were moving were obviously the militants that were attempting to keep everyone captive. Rick worked fast, hitting each enemy soldier in the back of the head with the handle of his shotgun to knock them out. Rick was soon found out, the insurgents started to push back by firing in Rick’s direction. Rick rode the waves of Reishi in order to quickly dodge, firing the Quincy weapon for the first time. However, Rick didn’t know how to hold back, emitting an incredible blast of Reishi. Rick watched in horror, some of the people that were captured in the blast were either dead or decapitated, fainting afterward.
The whole entire altercation was passed off to be a malfunction with the helicopters, where one explosion caused another. Rick was also dismissed from his duties, but still got paid each month. It was hush money, but he didn’t complain. Rick’s years of patriotism were over, and he disliked the web of lies that it was built on. After his dismissal, Rick flew back to New York to visit his mom. Besides the recent catching up, Rick asked her about him possibly finishing the relocation project. It was a simple study to pass the time, as well as discovering the mystery as to why some places had lower spiritual activity than others. It was another two years of traveling and taking down notes, seeing how much better off humanity was if hollow weren't around. Those travels brought him to a strange place called Karakua Town in Tokyo. It was basically the ground zero of hollow activity, which made Rick want to settle down and find out the reason behind it.
Rick integrated with his family role of being a member of the Ashia family, taking over the estate. The first year involved quite a bit of diplomacy. Karakura was like a small swimming pool with a different variety of swimmers, all of them were either fighting for coexistence or space. All of that changed when the incursion happened, the hollows invaded Karakua Town in an army like formation and massacred a lot of innocent people. It happened without warning, possibly standing as the 9/11 of all spiritual disasters. Of course, anyone who could fight against the attackers did so, and it put Rick into an interesting matchup against Takua Megido. Takua used fire, he was also a bit stronger than Rick, a gap that the Quincy was unable to close during the fight. In the end of a struggle that Rick was prepared to die for, Takua healed Rick's injuries instead, as well as stating that he had nothing to do with the attack. Rick didnt believe Takua at all, still holding him just as responsible as the rest of the hollows that were involved.
Moving on, Rick started his contractor company in order to help Karakura town rebuild, using his unique skills of spiritual alchemy to speed up the process and perhaps make the town a little more durable. Rick also gained a dislike of spiritual sympathizers, criticizing Ichiro Makaze, challenging him for the title of overseer of Japan. It ended in a draw, with Rick giving up on the position for the time being. In the wake of the incursion, Adimus obtained godhood and started the vigilance in order to make sure that nothing like the incursion ever happened again. All human variants came together, even a few shinigami and hollows. On one occasion, Rick was teamed up with Takua in order to help salvage what was left of Adimus's soul, preventing whatever darkness from leaking out.
Future successful missions gave Rick an idea of a brighter future for humanity, or at least made him more hopeful. However, that was all cut short when faced to face when an ancient entity connected to his clan's past. The hollow not only took Rick's Reiatsu, it also put Rick in a two-year coma from which he has recently awakened. Rick quickly brought himself up to speed, meeting the new Queen of the Quincy and joining their ranks as a Knight of the Holy Relics department. He also took on a new apprentice, teaching her the ways of the Quincy and fostering her growth to the best of his ability. Learning about the end of the Vigilance and the struggles of a troubled friend, Rick has a lot on his plate. Fate has left the perfect bait by giving Rick a second chance at life; only time will tell if he's able to make a difference.
