Yesterday...
(The follow content is from a private conversation between two users on Spirit-Date.net)
Mcubed: Hello? I’m sorry, I’m new to this sort of thing, but this is telling me that this account is a match for me and is close, so I guess… Hi?
Mcubed: God, I suck at this. Disregard everything you saw above, no need to beat a dead horse with this bullshit. Stupid idea trying this thing anyway.
Lostpancake: o.o; I… have no idea where I am. What is this? And who are you?
Lostpancake: No, really. I have no idea what this is and how I got here.
Mcubed: Huh? Um, sorry, but didn’t you sign up to this date service? Wait, are you in trouble?
Mcubed: Do you need help?
Lostpancake: No, I’m fine. Er, my… um, friend just sat me down today and told me that this site would be helpful. She never told me what it was though and how it would be helpful, exactly.
Mcubed: Hahahah! Sorry, but you have NO idea how much I can relate. A… kind of friend of mine told me that I needed to get out more, and that this site would be a good place for it. Seems like both our friends failed to mention this was for dating. Man, I feel like a pleb.
Lostpancake: Oh, I see! So that’s what this site is for… interesting. And it told you that we were a match for each other?
Mcubed: Do you remember the questions you answered before? Like “Are you Male/seeking female”, “What race: Hollowbreed, Human, Shinigami” or even “What races do you prefer”? Apparently, they match you up with someone close that is compatible with the answers you give.
Mcubed: Make sense?
Lostpancake: Yes, I see. I do remember answering such questions; however, my, um, friend did most of the clicking for me. I just nodded my head and went along with things… Things are so complicated in this world…
Mcubed: I take it you’re not human then? Not that I give a rat’s ass if you are, you sound like a sweet gal to me; I’d just like to know a little more.
Lostpancake: Um, no, I am. I just meant… there are a lot of scary things out there. I’m, um, how should I put this? Trying to find out more about myself… I’m nothing interesting at all really.
Mcubed: Mysterious much? XD If anything, you sound plenty interesting. But, if this is your way of telling me to sod off, I understand.
Lostpancake: Hm? No… o.o I was being completely serious. There are many things I don’t remember; however, you seem like a fine gentlemen. Nothing like those… strange men my friend is affiliated with at least.
Mcubed: Your ‘Friend’ kinda sounds a little shady, the way you keep talking about him/her. I suppose I can’t point fingers though… But you, on the other hand, sound like someone I’d like to get to know better.
Lostpancake: She is… interesting, to say the least but ah! So is that how a dating website works? We exchange words online and then meet up if the feeling is mutual. I see, I see. I suppose I would not be opposed to trying something new.
Mcubed: Well, this thing tells me you live somewhere in Shibuya. How about dinner and a movie? No strings attached.
Lostpancake: Um, sure! I guess I’ll… or we’ll exchange further information through a private message or whatnot? I look forward to meeting you, Malik.
Mcubed: The pleasure’ll be all mine I’m sure, Rania.

As Rania sat there staring at her glowing computer screen in the dark, an odd sensation began to overcome her body. Was it regret? Was it anxiety or nerves? The woman didn’t have the capacity to know what had just happened when really, it would have been quite obvious to any passerby looking in.
This was a first date and what the amnesiac was experiencing was a natural reaction to the fluctuation of hormones. She started to fret about things that otherwise would have seemed mundane and unimportant. What would she wear? How would she do her hair? And if she didn’t like any of the clothes in her closet, would Rania brave that fearsome jungle called a mall in order to purchase an appropriate outfit? She felt nervous just thinking about it, the palpitations of her heart speeding up tenfold over.
Society considered it acceptable to ask close female friends for advice on such occasions but the only female… ‘friend’ that came to mind was… Maya of all people. The thought of asking for fashion advice--and more so, dating advice--from someone who pranced around in gleaming fairy wings all day simply seemed appalling. No, that would just be an unwise decision. Shaking those thoughts away with a deep sigh, Rania slumped down in her chair at a loss of words. She’d… she’d have things figured out by tomorrow, right?
Welcome to the world, Rania! This is generally what pre-date nerves feel like, something she’d never experienced, former human life or not.

*Pfffffff*
Malik slowly slumped into his chair, the breath he’d been holding for what seemed like the entire conversation slowly releasing itself along with a great deal of pent up emotional tension. Christ, how long had it been since he’d TALKED to a girl like *this*, much less asked one out? Even before he’d traveled back, it’d been more than a couple of months for sure. It certainly felt longer though. Long enough that he’d forgotten just how amazing it felt, knowing that there was at least one female out there willing to not dismiss him out of hand as ’Dating Material’.
Slowly, a grin began to crack open Malik’s blank mask as the words on his screen really began to sink in. For the first time since he’d arrived here, he was going actually going to get out of his cage, meet a nice girl, and… Oh god. Oh, Christ. He needed to phone his boss right now, ask for his check early and for tomorrow off! Did he have any clean jeans? Was there somewhere affordable he could take her to dinner in Shibuya? Oh, what movies were playing these days! As Malik hustled and bustled around his tiny apparent, hurriedly dialing his work, working desperately to arrange everything he could at the last minute, a small voice in the back of his head posed a question that he couldn’t quite shake…
*I wonder if she’s pretty…*
Godspeed Malik, and remember lad…
Faint heart never won fair lady.
