Captain work was tougher than what Hikari had ever thought. She had to do Captain reports, manage a compound of rowdy men and women, not to mention the many reports that were caused by them. She didn't have much time to go out and just goof off like she had been able to in the past. Today was one of the lucky days that she was able to escape the confines of her Division. It wasn't that Hikari didn't like the place, on the contrary, she loved the place. She had learned to accept the men and women that lived there. This little girl had come to care for quite a few of them. Hikari also appreciated the fact that she finally had a Lieutenant. This meant more time for her to escape her duties, and just go out and play.
The usual target for this type of "work" was her dear and loving friend Kasumi. She was shorter than Hikari by a few inches, and she tended to be a lot quieter than other girls, that she shared the age appearance with. Kasumi wasn't that way when they were able to play with each other. She was quite the chatterbox, yes she was much like Hikari. Always talking about something, if it was important or not, it didn't matter to either of them. What they liked differed between them, but they were able to both enjoy each others company while hanging out. In fact Kasu had just recently gotten Hikari hooked on one of her many Manga. The Captain of the 5th division chuckling and giggling about a comic was absurd! -but this little captain loved to sit and spend time with her dearest friend, besides, the manga weren't that bad either.
The scene of both of them walking down the steets in the Rukon District would be awe inspiring to many. They would look like two young teenagers out having fun in the shops. Hikari in her ever present Kimono didn't stick out so much though Kasu's Shihakusho did, but that aside they looked like two young girls at play. One wouldn't guess what they were actually. One was the Captain of the strongest division in all the Court Guard the 5th Division, the other being a Master Shinobi, the Captain of the Assasination Squad or commonly known simply as the 2nd Division. In their own right each of these little, happy, carefree girls were nothing what their exterior showed.
Unfortunately today the Captain of the 5th Division was walking the Rukon 5th district alone. For some reason she couldn't find Kasu, either she was on one of her "top-secret" missions, or she was busy with work. Hikari lamented the thought of having fun without her, but she direly needed a break. Hikari decided she would pick up a box of Pocky and maybe a stuffed animal for her, as an apology for not being able to take her along.
The store that she was aiming for was just around the corner and she would finally see if the shop owner had finally gotten in the White Daitenzen Warrior for her. But, she was sidetracked for a moment, a portable Ice cream stand rolled past her, this was one of Hikari's loves in life. She loved the feeling of the iced milk melting on her tongue, she loved the taste of sweet nectar like sugar blissfully grace her mouth with its enjoyment. -Only if Kasu could be here with here.- were the thoughts crossing Hikari's mind as she skipped to the local "toy" store.
Just outside of this store, something caught her eye. It was the latest issue of a Manga that Kasu reading. She would lay on her back, and kick at the air whenever she thought a part funny. After the volume was done it looked like Kasu would sigh a sigh of love or something like that, Hikari didn't understand that type of stuff. One time she had asked to read that one, but the blushing face, and embarrassed frown made Hikari not want to push the issue. Hikari found it a little lucky that she would be able to get this last volume for Kasu as a gift, and maybe take a peak into its pages. Hikari was a tad bit curious about why her best friend didn't want her to read this particular series.
As she reached for the manga, it disappeared. Out of no were, it vanished. Hikari didn't even see a hand reach for it, so this confused her a bit. Who would go to such lengths to not let her buy the book? Hikari wondered.
