In all fairness, it could have been a lot worse.
...
Sekai wasn't in the mood to be fair right now.
That had gone about as well as the first time her elder brother figure in the Americas had flown out to see her one time and had gotten into a fist fight with Seiichiro and Sakuya.
At the same time.
Not even twenty minutes apart.
Seiichiro's left hook hadn't gotten much better though, and she was pretty sure if she hadn't jumped in, Colin might have launched him or something into the tree tops or into the koi pond in the garden or something. As it was, Seiichiro was nursing a very sore shin she had 'subtly' kicked, repeatedly at that, while she'd had herself position between them to keep the two from probably killing one another.
...okay, so her cousin would have been the one splattered everywhere, because he seemed to have reached his limit, or just wasn't wanting to grow any further and didn't even hold a candle in comparison as a result.
Colin had a jaw she was pretty much positive was just rather bruised from being caught off guard. They'd done the stupid boy thing and looked like they were going to do it all over again. Glaring at them had done nothing, no one ever took her seriously, because she couldn't bring herself to look intimidating. Ever. And she did try.
She tried so hard. But, in the end, it didn't even matter.
Because boys were stupid and she forgot about that and she was mad at Colin, sort of, because he'd made her forget that boys were stupid with those big dumb blue eyes of his that she was pointedly trying not to get swayed by, again.
Breakfast had been a thing, she'd forced it and had switched things up, language wise, and had whipped the grey eyed man the same age as Colin himself in a verbal sparring war in not one, not two, but three separate languages until he'd fallen silent in a fuming, obviously sulking manner she'd taken to mean he conceded the 'match' and awarded her the victory.
They'd glared at each other the whole time, he and Colin had. She'd thought about shooting things at them for misbehaving. Temptation had been really strong, and then Seiichiro had given her a pointed look and changed the subject to grilling their guest as to where he was going to stay- because it was sure as hell not not going to be in Sekai's room if he had his way about it.
Sekai had told him to shut up and go help him pick clothes out so he could stop wearing stuff that didn't fit right.
Sei had made some rather snarky comment about Sakuya's girl clothes not being baggy enough to hide the evidence that the American could not be trusted to resist temptation.
Which was why Colin had gotten some of the jerk's good clothes they all pretended he didn't like to go out and buy on occasion when she'd gone up to fetch him some that would fit better.
After all, he and Seiichiro were of similar size and build. More so than they would likely want to admit.
...
And also why Seiichiro was currently stuck inside the house because the doors wouldn't let him out for some very, very mysterious reason.
Seriously, it was a mystery.
She knew nothing about it.
Sekai never, ever remembered saying she was a good girl. Or that she didn't have a mean sense of humor when she wanted to. "...I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry about him. I didn't know he was going to come back home and I should have told you about him sooner and," she bowed with each apology, clearly flustered because oops they'd gotten caught like a couple of teenagers and embarrassed because oh my god this was so stupid and everything. "Fujitaka-san and Keiko-san are very nice and they already know and wanted me to pass along that you are more than welcome to stay for as long as you need and not to mind Seiichiro too terribly much, he's just trying to act like an elder brother even if he fails aat it because he's an only child and I'm the older one so he should listen to me," she was babbling.
She was totally babbling and she couldn't help it. That had been the single most embarrassing thing to happen so far and the only thing that might have been worse is if it had been kissing and Hi-to or Takua had shown up, but especially Hi-to because no they were not going there right now because it wasn't going to happen.
Tree.
Tree. That was where they would go to talk.
"I'm really sorry, again, I don't know where he got the idea that throwing a punch at anyone was a good way to react to anything other than in defense of someone else. I, ugh, I'm going to... to... I don't know, lace his tea with licorice or something because he apparently needs a good laxative." It would have been an impressive threat, if her cheeks wouldn't have gone red and her words hadn't tripped all over themselves.
"This way, we'll go to the shrine's tree, I'll show you a good spot you can pretty much see the whole shrine and the village below in, and he won't be able to be a jerk because he can't get out of the house until I let him. So we can, um, talk, or just, I don't know. Breathe. Or something." A pause. Did he even know where he was? Maybe? "This is Fuji village, named after the shrine and the tree we're going to see. We're about an hour and a half north of Nagano city in Eastern Japan... and that's about, um, four and a half hours from Tokyo. And... there, by car, anyway. Train takes a little shorter because no traffic."
Bee line for the tree time.
She gestured for him to follow. She'd get privacy and uninterrupted time for them both to just... talk, be human, whatever it was as long as no one interrupted them and started acting stupid again.
