Finally, a day off from classes.
He had been studying non-stop for what seemed like a small eternity. That was silly though, he had only been a student for a very short period of time. Still, having a day off was nice, not that he could kick back and relax. There was training to be done. A lot of it. His teacher would be here soon, and when she arrived, they would begin preparing for the coming storm.
Akimoto sat with his legs hanging off of the cliff. The drop into the valley below him would be a long one if he were to fall, but he wasn't scared. This same cliff had been home to his lonely adventures for a long time. Thinking back he remembered that it was the old-timer, Tim, who showed him this spot. Many a wondrous time had occurred here. Simple things like watching the sunrise, breathing in the crisp morning air, or sitting with a gorgeous woman waiting for sunset to come.
Briefly his mind wandered to his girlfriend. It had been her that warned him about the possibility of war on the horizon. She was the one that was going to be training him as well. He really wasn't quite sure how to act around her yet. Sometimes she was a teacher, others a captain, but when was she nothing more than his girlfriend? Aki yearned for another night like the one at the waterfall, the fireflies dancing about, their lights playing with the reflection of the moon... Of course, he had woken up alone that morning, the girl disappearing in the middle of the night without waking him up. For some reason, however, he had woken up with the same smile on his face that he had fallen asleep with.
As he waited for his beautiful teacher to show up, the wind began to blow. Storm clouds loomed in the distance, and they seemed to be approaching fairly quickly. Aki knew that the winds could get very strong up here, as he had almost been swept off the cliff once or twice. That was definitely not a good day. His mind drifting off to faded memories on the cliff top, his ears almost missed the sounds of someone approaching from behind him. Then again, it could have just been the wind. It was blowing pretty ferociously.
Retracting his legs from the overhang, Aki stood up and stretched. His muscles had grown attached to the position he had been sitting in, and they wanted to stay there, to simply relax for the day. That being said, now was not a time for him to relax. There was training to be had, and he needed to be prepared for anything. Turning slowly around, his eyes searched the treeline for any signs of life. He wished that the young girl would hurry up and get here already, he was starting to miss her. Maybe after the training, he could take her back to the waterfall...
