My name is Suiren and I've been upset with how this site has been run since I first joined and would like to thank you for what you've done so far. I have administrative experience on other sites, including a zoids RPG with over 300 members. But, best of all, I think I see the same problems you do and know how to confront them.
Having a kill-switch like yourself able to take out the owner at any time who has no other presence on the RPG ensures an objective guardian presence on the site that will combat any future potential corruption. I like that and would do nothing to hinder your further just causes.
Having staff prioritize older players over new has to stop immediately. I myself have been the subject of this many times: having been blasted for my application when applications containing similar problems were praised for being the alts of friends of the application staff. My mechanics have taken over three weeks to even get a response (and are now bumped to the second page of the board) as mechanics spend most of their time working on their own mechanics rather than helping the newer players.
But most detrimental to our site is the elitism of our administration. I've lost three threads on this site so far because my partners claimed they were too busy only to thread-up with three alts of our former administrator, Tova. I've gone to administrators about the delays in my mechanics only to receive the answer "well you really don't have any chat presence" or "these other members are more important to retain as they are more detrimental to the plot of our site". I've never heard such appalling things in my life! And if these administrators actually did something other than put down other members and then steal ideas they PM to them only to take credit for them themselves I might have some misgivings about PMing you in the first place. But I completely understand where your coming from.
But I understand my short-coming: I'm not an "icon" of the site. And yet? I think this is merely another great trait: I am not already embroiled and a part of the Tova-clique on this site. I am not going to just turn around and give the site to him in 3-6 months. I'm not going to play favorites with anyone on the site.
That is: just because someone has been an admin for X months doesn't mean they deserve it now. Just because someone has a strong character doesn't mean they deserve staff. And just because someone has been a mechanic since before I was even a member doesn't mean they deserve to continue to insult our newer members now!
So if you have any concerns, please tell me as I will lay them to rest. And if you get an application from a more qualified applicant, I hope you will direct them towards me so we can discuss potentially becoming a member of the future staff here so I can do my best to make sure no other newer players feel as abandoned as they have in the past.
