Update: Deputies Needed!
--
So most of us read Suiren's post, and one of the grievances there was her mechanics page was ignored for those who were louder/more aggressive/better friends with the mods, and so on. We now know that particular case isn't all that concerning, but that's not to say it isn't a real issue.
So it's time for some changes.
First, a change in forum organization:
Over the next hour, I will separate the mechanics forum into three separate racial forums.
I was opposed to this in the past because it made for more clicks on staff's end to check what needed attention, but now there are so many pages in that forum that things are frequently being shoved to page two or three before getting looked at. Separate forums will make it easier on mods, not harder, at our currently activity level.
Second, a message to members:
If you have something in your mechanics page that requires approval, these are the steps you should follow.
- First, post in your character's mechanics thread saying so. We look at who has the last post in a topic to determine which topics need assistance. If a member of mechanics has the last post, you'll be ignored.
- Second, try contacting mechanic staff through chatbox or private messages. This isn't a guarantee; sometimes we're busy, sometimes we're not in the mood to do staff work if we're just hanging out in chatbox, but sometimes we're happy to help and just missed your post entirely. Please be polite and considerate if the first person you try isn't willing to help right away; some of us do have lives.
- Third, post in one of the three pinned Need Mechanics Help? topics. Shinigami, Hollow, Mortal.
- Fourth, contact myself or a member of the Interpersonals Department and a mechanic will be assigned to you and deal with whatever needs dealing with in a timely manner.
Some additional tips:
- Bumping your thread is probably not going to help. We don't really mind if you do it, but we try to prioritize people who have been waiting the longest so repeated bumps may cause you to get skipped. It's fine if your thread has slipped back a few pages, but outside of that it will likely do more harm than good.
- Please don't edit unapproved content into your first couple of posts. Put it in a new post in the thread, and edit it into your first post(s) once a mechanic has signed off in it. This saves hassle and confusion. Thanks.
Third, a message to mechanics staff;
Please don't post in someone's thread asking them to make changes and forget about it.
If you guys need to start following threads so that you get a notification when they respond, do that. This is happening way way way too often, and I'm guilty of it too. Splitting the forums up should make it easier for us to keep track of this, but let's please try to do better.
I'm trying to think of something good to close this announcement off with and I've got nothing, so let's hit the post button!
--Wait, I forgot something.
The Shinigami forum will contain Shinigami and Vaizards.
The Hollow forum will contain Hollows and Arrancar.
The Mortal forum will contain Humans and Quincy.
Transcendentals and Broken Transcendentals will be sorted according to their previous race.
