The mind of the beast. Such a cold thing that few people actually understood to its full potential.
The moon was high in the sky as the small taicho shifted in her sleeping mat, the blanket tangled around her small form. Her eyes were closed, but a thin sheen of sweat showed on her pale skin for a moment, before her eyes suddenly shot open.
The fear of nightmares was not one she often had, but her hand lifted up to her left eye where she had been stabbed in the dream not too long ago. The brilliant aquamarine colour rivaled oceans, nothing could compare to the unique shade of blue. With a gentle look adorning her face at that moment she rose from her bed mat, rolling it up from the floor. Her hands moved over the thick cloth, the material feeling sturdy underneath her hands as she folded it neatly. Lifting the mat in her arms, she walked silently to the cupboard that ran along the back wall of her small quarters, and placed the mat away. She may have been a captain but she lived like she had when she was only a sixth seat, taking her time to enjoy the bigger things than owning a large home. Sure with the rank she earned there was a large place to call her own, but she did not want, nor need it.
Once placing the blanket away with the mat the small captain glanced about, before walking to the other room connected to hers. It was a bathroom. Her little shack like home was basic, a sleeping room, a bathroom and a kitchen. Those were all the things she really needed since she was barely there as the matter was. Often she'd be gone for days, if not weeks on missions that the Captain Commander would send her on, but as of lately things had been silent. Nothing she had to really look into. She knew in her heart something was changing inside of her. It wasn't something she could explain, terror seemed to thrum through her whole body but it was not lasting.
So she stared into the mirror in her bathroom. The smooth reflective surface showing nothing but her own face. Noting that there was nothing to be scared of, she slowly turned glancing towards the shower wondering if she'd need it. But as she turned a snicker filled the air of the room, freezing in place Kasumi's heart started to pick up its pace, goosebumps breaking out over her skin as if someone had just dumped cold water on her. Who was there? She glanced about the room for only a mere moment, not noticing a thing. Yet; peering to the mirror she knew the laughter had escaped herself. The reflection showed this clearly, as the eye that was in pain was now a dark amber like a beast that had escaped the very pits of hell.
Fearfully she reached out to gently touched the mirror, wondering if this was just an illusion. But the cold glass said otherwise, looking grim, Kasumi merely stepped back for a moment. This wasn't good, why was her eye such a frightening thing? The white of the eye was steadily turning black, pain stabbing through the petite female as it did so. Exiting the bathroom quickly, she softly shut the door behind her even though she wanted to slam it. Slam it and run away from her terror and fears.
Then she grabbed her haori, placing it over her shoulders. The white garb showing she was the captain of the second division. Picking up her sword, she slid it away at her waist before using a shunpo to exit the home. Flashing through the night, wind played with her hair. She was moving at an accelerated rate, wanting to flee herself, but the pain was not going to end. She knew this. A low snarl escaped her mouth as she moved, she needed to get to the forest of the Rukon. Her reiatsu slipped out around her, spilling the dangerous hollow energy for all to feel as she flickered off into the woods.
Stopping her flight of fear, the small taicho let out her breath before punching a tree. Her eyes were now the frightening shade of amber that seemed to glow in the darkness. Anyone that approached her was going to die if not careful.
