He had been summoned.
There and gone in a flash, the messenger, a member of the Inner Court Troop of the second division, wore a maroon kimono over his black form fitting leggings and long sleeved top which were the uniform of his profession as well as the face concealing helm that covered his eyes. Strapped to the man's back was a pack that did not give away its contents. Appearing on bended knee he offered up a single piece of paper folded once, and then was gone. Yet even so Houmaru could see how extremely pale his face was. A glance at the note quickly answered to the question of why but lead to many more.
'Second Division, Third Seated Officer, Houmaru Ametsuchi to report to the Captain's Office Immediately.'
Of all the shinigami within the Second Division, and among the top three in all of Soul Society, Captain Kiriko Chinda was the most feared. He had always failed to understand why they feared her, certainly she was a powerful and formidable warrior, as long as they fulfilled their duties and obeyed the laws, then any reason to fear was unfounded. He had no reason to fear her, in fact, of all the people in Soul Society, Captain Chinda was the one person he respected the most.
Swiftly putting away the paperwork that he had been working on, he purposefully made his way to the Captain's Office. He did not run, for maintaining the illusion of serenity was important, nothing worried subordinates more then to see one of their commanding officers running or panicking, it implied that all was not well. Additionally if he was required to perform a task being unnecessarily tired ahead of time was a pointless waste of energy. Stopping at the door he unhesitatingly knocked and awaited her command to enter, swiftly stepping in when it was given.
