Chinda Nagisa – The Smiling Blade
For the Record
Name: Chinda Nagisa (なぎさ, 凪沙, Calm Beach)
Age: 100
Apparent Age: Early to mid twenties
Gender: Female
Loyalties: Seireitei
Character Parameters
Height: 180cm
Weight: Kakushigoto (62kg)
Hair Colour: Black
Eye Colour: formerly icy blue, after being infected with an Inner Hollow by Nothing one of her eyes changed to a crimson color
Tattoos:
- Left shoulder blade, from the right shoulder down to the elbow; an Irezumi design that shows the Vermilion Bird or Red Phoenix, the sign of fire and hope. Nagisa had it tattooed after graduating the academy as a reminder to fight for her dreams and show perseverance in the face of adversity.
- Near her sex; a small black butterfly, similar to the Jigokucho used by the Shinigami. Nagisa had it tattooed after having grown really fond of ink and just for the thrill of it. The chances are high that it won’t be her last one.
Scars:
- Diagonally from left to right across her entire abdomen; a memento by Kirishi
- Between index finger and thumb of left hand; a shallow wound that looks like a fine white needle and stems from the continuous practice of Iado. It is a scar many practitioners share and just occurred naturally during training.
- Through her right eye; a short scar that cuts through the eyebrow, over the lid and ends half an inch beneath the eye, earned in the fights against Seryu and Katsumi.
- Left leg; after fighting a dragon Nagisa’s lower left leg is covered in burn scars.
Ethnicity: Japanese
Laterality: Ambidextrous
Blood type: A
Noticable Difference
Nagisa is a woman of rather tall height, hitting just above 180cm, and her weight is her personal secret. The Shinigami’s limbs are slim and slender with fingers so long and filigree that they belie their true strength. It is obvious that the woman is in shape as well-toned muscles are clearly visible to the watchful observer. Her life as a soldier is reflected not only in her frame, but in her lithe movements as well.
Her skin tone is akin to fine white chalk and in fact so fair that under certain light the blue of her veins shine through. The skin itself is mostly free from taints and flaws save for a few scars. One runs from her left breast to the right corner of her abdomen. A second one is located on the soft tissue between thumb and index finger of the left hand, a scar many Iado practitioners spout. The third one starts over her right eye-brow and trails over the lid to end half an inch under the eye. A tattoo can be spotted depicting a small black butterfly and is located close to her sex and finally her right shoulder is covered in an Irezumi (Japanese tattoo design) and depicts the Vermilion Bird; it ends at her elbow.
The legs are easily her most attractive feature as they are very long and well shaped. Her behind is in great form as well and can put others to shame, but her breasts are average which makes them appear small at times because of her height. Especially the latter makes Nagisa prone to feeling unconfident about her femininity or even jealous towards overly well-endowed women.
The Shinigami has long, silky black hair which is meticulously taken care of, something she had always wanted to do whilst living with the tribe but has never had the opportunity. Typically Nagisa ties her hair into a pony-tail with bangs framing the face in order to keep it out of the way. Her ears are pierced and usually adorned with simple earrings that match her eyes in color. As someone who gets cold very easily, Nagisa often wears a scarf.
Her almond shaped eyes are of an icy blue, which is rather unusual given her ethnicity, and seem to be able to stare right through a person. They are the kind of eyes people tend to stare at, hoping to catch them blink. Nagisa’s lips are rather small, and void of blood, when she smiles however, it can light up a room. Due to her dark hair, pale complexion and thin built the woman always looks a bit sickly, something that is only stressed by her high cheekbones and past lifestyle.
As for clothing her Shihakusho fits her well but has fallen victim to some changes. Since it is the first time in her entire life to own her own clothes, Nagisa likes to push the limits of her uniform. The sleeve of her left side is a little bit longer and ends just below the second knuckle, the other one though is rolled up to her shoulder or missing and thus exposes the right arm completely. Whether it is a fashion choice though or truly helps her in performing Iado is debatable. Over the left hand the woman often wears a fingerless black glove.
For off-duty wear the woman owns several Kimono or Yukata variations but favors more modern attire – again, it being the first time that she has enough money to spend she quiet enjoys the acquisition of things. Tight tops or loose hoodies, always of a single color, and hot pants without shoes when at home or combat boots when in the human world are part of her closet’s repertoire. Moreover she has a strange affinity for coats and ponchos.
Posture:
As a younger woman Nagisa had often stood with round shoulders in order to make herself appear smaller, but ever since entering the Gotei and becoming a soldier she stands tall and proudly with a straight back. Her legs are usually shoulder width apart and albeit the young woman appears unnaturally straight she does not give a rigid impression. Rather due to Nagisa’s lithe built and well trained body the impression of a flow is created. She tends to tuck her left arm into the front of her Shihakusho, making it look as though her arm is in a sling - an homage to a the romanticized ronin tradition. When surprised or confused the Shinigami has the habit of blinking multiple times and under stress she bites her lower lip.
Nagisa lacks the expressiveness of a typical person. Her hands seldom move when she talks but when they do it makes what has been said all the more charged and meaningful. Her facial reactions are always a second too late or just off enough that it creates the impression that she does not quite know how to interact well with people. Raising an eyebrow in a questioning or even judging manner has become second nature though as many things about a ‘normal’ society confuse her. Her smile though is as pure and warming as the sun and easily captivating people. When Nagisa laughs she tends to narrows her eyes to the point that it becomes questionable if she can still see and always places a hand before her mouth.
In her current position as Vice-Captain of the Fifth Division Nagisa has struggling to find her own way of dealing with the frequent tasks of giving orders and handling responsibility. A great deal younger than many other lieutenants and most of the people she commands, the Chinda is attempting to find her personal style, taking pages out of Jasper Aizawa’s book as well as that of her older sister Kiriko as she is going along. This often leads to a harsh contrast where the typically soft spoken and warm Nagisa spouts fact-driven orders. Aware of just how mismatched her leadership style is at the moment the younger Chinda is experimenting to shape herself into a person she feels comfortable with.
Reiatsu Description:
Nagisa’s Reiatsu used to be of a very pale blue. However, after mastering Bankai as well as balancing the different parts of her soul it changed to white with the occasional black swirl, very reminiscent of the Yin-Yang symbol. It still feels calm but cold, like the water of a mountain river. When Nagisa is happy, it effervescences, bubbling like a fizzy drink or a river at its source. However, when angered it quiets down and can feel almost physically chilling, like a sea before the storm – with various monsters lurking beneath the dark surface.
Positive Traits
- Courageous “Fall seven times, stand up eight.”
Be it facing a foe head on or standing up for what you think is right, courage comes in many sizes and forms. Physical courage has always come easy to Nagisa, she is neither afraid of pain, thread of death or hardships. Moral courage however, to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal or discouragement, is much harder for her. A life where she was just one of many has not exactly given her much backbone. However, in moments where it counts she shows this virtue the most.
- Honest “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.”
Nagisa appreciates honesty to a fault and has never consciously lied to another individual. However, she isn’t as righteous as she strives to be because she is not above only telling half or partial truths when necessary. This is the result of a childhood where lies were harshly punished and the importance of truth stressed by elders and other parental figures. However, to weasel one’s way through loopholes is something that every child learned.
- Earnest “I will get it done.”
Nagisa is a simple soul and shows great sincerity and conviction in everything she does. Hailing from a basic and modest background that values hard work she is very steady and serious when it comes to her job. From a young age she learned that hard work gets rewarded and the conviction that, if one tries one’s best life will reward it, has stuck with her through decades.
- Innocent & Pure The young woman is guileless to the point that it can be called naive. Things like sarcasm and malevolence are not unknown to her, but typically go over her head. It is, in a sense, refreshing though as Nagisa always plays with open cards and rarely spouts an ulterior motive. Most likely she remained some of that childhood innocence by never having been in touch with many people outside of her clan until she entered the academy.
- Loyal “Put your faith in me, I will not fail you.”
Whether it is person, group or cause, once Nagisa has been won over she will do the best she can do for others – that’s what having a family taught her. The shame of failure is not an option for neither shall her honor be tainted nor the trust be disappointed. As one that grew up in a tightly knit community the Shinigami knows that blood makes one related, but loyalty makes family – and the feeling that that is something of the utmost importance has been ingrained into her since the days of yore.
- Cheerful “Let’s go!”
Compared to her past everything in Soul Society is fun and adventurous. The classes are pure enjoyment compared to the ungrateful work of trying to scrape a living off of a harsh and unforgiving land. Wherever Nagisa goes she brings a lot of excitement and invigorating energy that make her a joy to be around – she really knows how to say ‘Yes’ to life and nothing can ruin her mood. Well, rainclouds maybe.
Negative Traits
- Naive & Idealistic “I have a dream…”
To put it bluntly: Nagisa is a country bumpkin. She has never learned how “proper” social interactions work as the people she has had to do with for the vast majority of her life were her tribe. Moreover, she is a dreamer and someone who holds onto those dreams. To her they are what motivate people and makes the world go, thus hope and aspiration of a person are sacred, no matter how unrealistic they are. This shows especially in her action of joining the Shinigami; carrying the hope in her chest that everything would be better if Onee-san returned, she threw everything overboard to pursue it.
- Vain *Looks left and right before gazing at her reflection lovingly*
Nagisa can look very good with the right get up and is starting to realize and like that. Her long, silky hair is her personal pride, and the woman enjoys the attention it garners a great deal. Albeit teenage Nagisa might have walked with round shoulders and downcast gaze, adult Nagisa walks straight and with her head held high. Moreover, the longer she spends amongst the uniform-clad reapers, the more she longs for a way to differentiate herself from the others in an attempt to show everyone how beautiful and unique she can be.
- Thrill/Sensation seeking ”What’s this? Uh, the excitement!”
As someone who grew up in extreme poverty many things that are common within the Soul Society are absolutely new and groundbreaking to her. Starting by eating food she’s never eaten, touching cloth she has never felt, wearing clothing she could have never had before, etc. Anything that is new – or at least unfamiliar and unknown – is bound to attract her. Perhaps part of her courage originates from here. Having missed out on a real childhood the woman consumes everything in an attempt to make up for her perceived loss.
- Cheap “Waste not want not.”
As someone who grew up in extreme poverty Nagisa also has an extremely preserving nature. It starts with cleaning her own bowl to the last rice corn – and that of her neighbors and neighbor’s neighbor even when nobody is looking. Moreover, she tends to keep things that it almost boarders the extreme, only throwing things away when there is absolutely, 110% no more use for it. While stealing gets one into trouble, bargaining hard is more than allowed. Helping friends is something she likes to do, but if it means parting with material possessions she is very reluctant to do so.
- Lonely …
For the majority of her life Nagisa has had the feeling of being unlike other people in her tribe and that caused her to alienate herself from them subconsciously. The only kindred spirit was her Onee-san who too eventually left. On the other hand due to a large and family-like tribe she has never had to spend time alone, thus being without the company of another person makes her progressively depressed. These days there is a gaping hole in the woman’s heart that she is dying to fill.
- Obsessive “I’ll try hard to be a little more like you each day.”
For as long as Nagisa can remember her Onee-san has always been around. Initially she took care of her the most and showed the greatest kindness towards her out of all the people in the tribe. Latter on that relationship grew to be rather one-sided, but the young woman has never stopped idolizing her older sister, going even as far as leaving her family behind in an attempt to get her back – and mimic her behavior. Upon learning that her beloved Onee-san is nowadays a prominent figure within Soul Society has only spurned her admiration and ambition to grow to be like her a little more – and of course to become a person whom her sister will include once again in her life. To be worthy of her sister’s love once more is Nagisa’s greatest (and unhealthiest) ambition.
Themes:
Nagisa’s Theme A Stranger I Remain – Nagisa is a woman who has always felt lost and alone, despite being member of a closely knit community. That feeling stems from the fact that only a selected few seemed to be able to understand the feelings that plagued her. The constant hunger, the cold, the eerie knowledge that you’re missing a part of yourself, even though you couldn’t quite say why…Ultimately it was this that urged her to leave her tribe in favor of someone who she felt could understand: her sister. This led her to Soul Society, a place where she seems much more at home than ever before, yet due to her upbringing her status as a stranger has not really changed. This unrest and hunger is present in the song’s melody with the lyrics expressing a journey from the unknown into the unknown. Nagisa was an alien where she came from and while she still is one to the Shinigami society, it now feels like a battle she can enjoy.
A Childhood Dream Zelda’s Song – The melody of this song is quite simple as it was supposed to be thought up and played by a child. A melody that was too happy or playful would have felt wrong, as Nagisa was not out to make her sister forget about the terrible things that had happened to her. Instead it is her attempt at healing. The slow pace with its light tones tries to convey a sort of soothing warmth in an attempt to convey the feelings of friendship and love to a sister that felt forsaken and betrayed by the world. However, from the perspective of an adult it has just enough potential to be melancholic in nature, since it failed what it was created to achieve.

Hobbies & Skills:
Urgh, every time she’s been here I wonder if I’ve really earned something… – Otsu Omeda, owner of an outlet store
Bargaining; growing up with little and less has taught the woman to never settle for the original price. While the Shinigami nowadays has access to some funds, the habit remains – and has at times even become somewhat of a hobby in which she takes pride.
This looks…special. - Izumi Sante, head of the calligraphy course
Calligraphy; despite having started learning how to read and write quite late the woman has a passion for this fine art. Despite her success at drawing in general though, she displays no talent whatsoever for Calligraphy.
I wonder when they will print her latest chapter… – Kameko Yagi, member of the 3rd Division whilst blushingly staring at a Manga.
Drawing, sketching, painting; Nagisa is skilled in a variety of styles and even to such an extent that some of her works are highly sought after. Amongst her most famous creations are pictures of the landscape where she grew up, a sleeping panda bear and a short manga that is rumored to involve Ex-Captain Jomyaku, and his then-Lieutenant Kohara and a giant squid.
I’ve got nothing left to teach her. – Sorata Kagemura, Zanjutsu Instructor
Iado; Nagisa has a very high degree of proficiency in the art of drawing the sword. She learned from Sorata Kagemura during her academy years and has kept up the practice ever since, even becoming good enough to apply it in combat as her main mode of attack.
Expanded: Ever since rising to prominence in the 5th Nagisa has become famous not only for her proficiency in Iado, but has also made a name for herself as instructor as well as cunning combatant.
When I heard her play for the first time…I am not gonna’ lie, I cried a little…but if you tell anybody, I’ll punt ya’! – Jidanbo Ikkanzaka
Musician; ever since she was young the woman has been spouted quite the musical talent. She plays the Cross Flute as well as the Ocarina and has even written a couple of songs, the most famous one being the Ballade of Tabebito-Ojii-san. Currently she is trying to learn how to play the guitar.
Expanded: After secretly purchasing an electronic guitar the Chinda has started to learn Jazz and Rock songs.
Where there’s l-life there’s hope, and need of v…vi…vittles? – Nagisa, sounding out words as she practices reading
Reading; having learned to read rather late in her life the woman remains fascinated by what can be found in books, be they about art, war, or romance. A window to experiences that she has never had the chance to make Nagisa is quickly amassing her own private library.
Expanded: While still not a fan of Kanji in general the young woman nowadays seldom struggles with reading or writing Japanese. Though still far away from verbose in her mother tongue the young woman has started taking English classes in order to indulge in modern pop-culture.
Hmmmm – delicious! – various members of the Shinigami academy during Nagisa’s stay.
Sushi chef; the Shinigami spouts excellent skills in the processing of sea food.
Habits:
Biting the lip; when worried she tends to gnaw on her lower lip and sigh a lot.
Blinking wildly; when confused or caught off guard the woman will blink many times in a row, creating an almost comical effect.
Drumming the beat; as a musician it is very normal for Nagisa to hum to herself absentmindedly. More common though is her habit of tapping on things to when bored or spacing out – something that annoys many people to no end.
Expanded: After getting into repeated trouble with the woman who handles her paperwork for disrupting the atmosphere at work, Nagisah as picked up pen-spinning.
Likes:
Alcohol; Nagisa has a soft spot and a low tolerance for liquors and becomes very social when intoxicated. However, once a certain threshold is crossed she also becomes very emotional. That ranges from heart wrenching and tearful confessions to violent outbursts and trying to pick fights; she is a drunken brawler, meaning that under the influence she develops surprising Hakuda prowess.
Sapphires; albeit owning none she admires its colors.
Sunshine; the memories of cold nights spent shivering under thin blankets have never left Nagisa. To this day she remains particularly averse to the cold and freezes easily, thus the warming rays of the suns count amongst her favorites.
Kites; she owns a variety of kites and likes to play with them in her pastime. It is not unusual to see three of four at once in the air when she’s in the mood.
Sweets; Nagisa loves sweet foods and candies. They are a delightful novelty to her, yet at the same time eating too many gives her a headache.
Dislikes:
Being late; Nagisa values punctuality and expects it from herself and others. Being late, to her, shows disrespect to the person and the cause.
Cold; when remembering her childhood the dominant emotions are hunger and cold. As someone who still freezes easily and does not like to dwell on these dark memories the cold ranks amongst Nagisa’s least favorite things.
Wasting food; having gone hungry more often than not during her childhood days, the deliberate wasting of food upsets her to no end.
Schemers; as a person who’s inexperienced with how a ‘normal’ society functions Nagisa still quite often falls prey to underhanded schemes. This has made her quite wary of people she does not know and given her a healthy amount of suspicion.
Squid; she neither likes the taste nor the rubbery consistency. Besides, they are kind of creepy.
Goals
Nagisa came with one goal in mind to Soul Society: to find her older sister. Upon arrival she learned that her special person had grown beyond everybody’s wildest expectations and was now a person of utmost importance to the Shinigami. Nagisa is well aware that her Onee-san has many reasons to not have looked back in all these years and as such doubts that as she is now Onee-san will accept her back in her life. In order to prove her worth to herself and her sister she vowed to transform herself into a person that would rise to meet every challenge and master it with excellence.
Expressed in a more tangible way her ‘short term goal’ is becoming a seated lieutenant in the 2nd Division.
Update I
Barely a year has passed since the Chinda entered active duty and already she left her mark upon history, albeit not in the ways she had hoped for. Just like her sister Nagisa was able to secure herself a spot as Vice-Captain early on in her career, but the plan of taking up the badge and serve Kiriko directly in the Second has failed; Nagisa is the lieutenant of the Fifth.
However, in one point she did beat her sister, albeit unknowingly. Kiriko never managed to obtain Bankai. Nagisa unlocked hers even before earning a seated position.
Update II
Still Nagisa serves as Vice-Captain of the Fifth Division. However, emboldened by her progress she is slowly but surely vying for a haori herself. Moreover, after the fiasco with Seryu Nagisa has taken an interest in wanting to explore different aspects of life – ones that do not involve swords, blood and Hollows. Thirdly the Chinda set herself the ambitious aim to surpass the Flash God in Shunpo and Zanjutsu.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Traditionally a Lawful Good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. She acts with compassion, honor and a sense of duty towards the greater good - in Nagisa’s case represented by the laws of Soul Society and her role as Shinigami. However, as a result of such a commitment Nagisa at times finds herself conflicted between two choices: to uphold the law, or to do good. As someone that is rather inexperienced in the ways of the world the young woman then tends to cling to the laws of a still rather unknown society to justify her decisions, instead of embarking into the grey sea of what ‘good’ exactly means.
Update I
Even after transforming into a Vaizard Nagisa’s moral alignment did not suffer. She still believes in doing ‘good’ and strives to make the world a safer place. However, having come in contact with many different people from various walks of life as well as conviction the woman has become aware that there are possibilities of living a fulfilled life without adhering to laws and principles as she does. Those lives will just never be as fulfilled as her own.
Bond Undeniable
Zanpakuto Spirit – The Super Ego: Miko美湖(Beautiful Lake) – The Farseer
Appearance:
The Farseer is a woman of great height, towering over Nagisa by at least 2 inches. Her skin is of fair complexion and her long, ebon colored hair frames a gaunt face with high cheekbones. Miko’s eyes are almond like in shape and slightly tilted, adding only to her exotic appearance. That really makes them stand out though are their hourglass-shaped pupils in golden color and while the Shinigami remains fascinated by them, the Farseer claims them to be equally blessing and curse. Also, the spirit never blinks, giving her a rather unnerving gaze. Typically Miko wears a soft and knowing smile, but behind it she hides a mouth with elongated canine teeth, like fangs.
The Farseer spouts an unearthly grace and beauty. Her limbs are slender with long and delicate fingers. Her body is shapely and well formed, easily taken an onlooker’s breath away. The spirit clothes itself in robe-like dresses and Kimono of varying colors. Regardless of attire though, the woman always carries a blade with her and seldom wears footwear.
Personality:
Miko claims to be able to peer into the future and that time is far from a strange concept before her hourglass eyes. She often displays a sad or sorrowful expression, and laments that before her eyes little beauty remains as she sees things constantly aging, dying only to be reborn. There are few things that can stand this test and are of an ageless beauty, thus she has dedicated herself to perfecting them. Amongst these are arts like sword fighting, music and calligraphy. When Nagisa is not alone Miko spends her time on perfecting those, and once the Shinigami has seen the fruits of that labor. She witnessed her spirit dance across the lake in a performance that was equally dance and war, expressing a variety of emotions that left Nagisa breathless and with tears in her eyes. Moreover, while the Shinigami is quite the talented musician, her spirit owns an ivory cross flute and is able to use it in a manner that creates equally beautiful and yet haunting songs that surpass her own.
The Farseer is a kind soul that seeks to guide and council Nagisa. She seeks to teach her Shinigami a notion of inner strength and self respect. At the same time though, she is constantly in a struggle with herself as to how much of the future she can reveal, how much guidance is good and when it turns into suffocating her bearer’s flame. On the other hand though, she enjoys teaching and frequently shows a knowing smile when interacting with others. When in a good mood, Miko is personifies parts of the concept of a Yamato Nadeshiko – an idealized woman. She moves with an unnatural grace and kindness reminiscent of the nurturing love of an older sister or even mother. However, when angered or her Shinigami is threatened she becomes fiercely protective and as beautiful she is when she smiles, as horrifying is she when danger looms.
Generally speaking Miko is a calm persona that values simplicity, and tries to see beauty in many things despite her circumstances. In combat however the Farseer displays a ruthless efficiency that makes killing its very own art form. She appears quite jaded when contrasted to Nagisa’s almost naïve cheerfulness.
Inner Hollow – The Id: Katsumi 勝海 (Victory Ocean) – The Pale Lady
Appearance:
Nagisa’s inner Hollow refers to herself as Katsumi and manifests as a tall, incredibly pale woman who often wears a red flower in her silvery white hair. Her slanted eyes are crimson in color, but the sclera is of a deep black as is common amongst Hollows. High cheekbones and fine eyebrows give Katsumi a distinct aristocratic feeling and immediately create the impression of a person who is beautiful and arrogantly knows so.
With slim and slender limbs and a lithe body that has a feline grace to every move Katsumi is mimicking Nagisa’s build to a tee, safe for the fact that, different from the Shinigami, the woman spouts an impressive amount of curves and knows very well how to create a scene to show herself off.
As far as clothing is concerned Katsumi prefers white Kimonos with red trimming and a single flower stitched into the lower part on the left side. However, when in a more…pugnacious mood Katsumi wears a sleeveless Kosode and black Hakama. Like Miko Katsumi does not wear footwear and always carries a silver tantou.
Personality:
Katsumi is a vain woman with a sadistic streak. She embodies Nagisa’s lust for thrill, her will for independence; her unbridled emotions. Where Miko preaches control and victory through unity – love – Katsumi is fierce, depends only on herself and cunningly advances her plots and ploys at every turn. At her core the woman has a hedonistic streak. She indulges in feelings and is able to find something to enjoy in every situation, causing her to always wear an amused smile as if she was privy to her own private joke. Nagisa is a humble and docile girl who fights with her insecurities, Katsumi is flamboyant, confident, extravagant – she loves to be the center of attention.
Her early interactions with Nagisa were marked by subtly nudging the Chinda to the edges of her comfort zone, to test her limits and then break through. Later though the Shinigami realized that this second spirit was far from benevolent and soon they two were vying for control. In the end it was Nagisa who acknowledged and accepted the values for which Katsumi stands – independence, free will, desire; powerful emotions Nagisa did not know how to handle – and accepted that the Pale Lady, just like the Farseer, is a part of her and thus decided the conflict in her favor.
Today Katsumi still lives beneath the waves of the lake in the Chinda’s Inner World, and while their exchanges are less hostile than before, the Inner Hollow remains ready to strike at the first sight of weakness.
Inner World:
Nagisa’s Inner World takes the form of the lake where many of her strongest memories occurred. It is vast in size and has a stony shore with a couple of reeds poking up and bending softly in the occasional breeze. In the midst of the lake an island with a Japanese style mansion is barely visible, but the Shinigami has never been there. The island is littered with statues of different times and these vary greatly in what they portray. Some of them show ancient warriors and gods, others mythical animals. The mansion has two floors and follows a very traditional design with stairs leading up to the living rooms, a wide patio, Tatami mats as furnishing, etc. No animals inhabit her Inner World.
As a matter of fact, Nagisa has seldom been anywhere besides the beach where small stones litter the waterside and a large bolder resides, or on the water itself. The time of day changes irregularly and the Shinigami has observed different moon cycles but never seen the sun while in her Inner World. However, while the sky can be clear of fog, the white mist is never quiet gone and lingers around in thick wafts.
Sealed Zanpakuto:
Miko takes the form of a Tantou with a blade that is precisely 30 centimeter in length and polished to such an extent that its silver surface gleams and reflects the light that touches upon it. The grip of the weapon seems almost comically long compared to the blade and offers enough space for one hand and a half. On the one side this makes Miko a really odd sword, on the other it opens up a wide array of creative uses, playing with where on the grip to hold the sword being the easiest. Red leather is wrapped around the hilt for a comfortable feeling that easily enables prolonged use. The Tsuba is round, black and adorned with two stars that are located opposite of each other.
Shikai Appearance :
Release Phrase: 運命の呼び出し(うんめいのよびだし) (Unmei no yobidashi) Fate calls.
Nagisa is a warrior, a soldier who strives for perfection and control and when releasing her Shikai she feels as if all of that is suddenly within the palm of her hand. Upon command the silver Tantou forms into a full sized black Katana made of metal so dark it seemingly swallows the light. The sword guard too changes and shows three stars arranged in a triangle instead of the usual two. The Shinigami is thrilled by this form, is in love with the simple yet elegant design and sleek color.
Shikai Abilities: Miko – the Farseer
Seeing Chinda’s release was…bizarre. No, not so much the form of it. It was more that something about her had changed. Like she no longer feared what we were fighting…Her eyes…They seemed to look straight past what was going on. And that smile...I tell you, if I didn’t know better I would say it was the look of a woman who knew she was not going to die. – Squad Leader Akiko Sato, 5th Division
Miko is capable of peering into the future and uses this ability to ever so slightly shift the odds in Nagisa’s advantage by feeding her small amounts of information. Longer exposure eventually yields too many variables to be considered useful in combat, but in small portions it vastly enhances Nagisa’s reaction time. Moreover, by imbuing the blade with some of her time manipulating ability she is able to have everything in its path decay at a rapid pace. When invoking her spirit’s powers the Shinigami feels strangely remote from the turmoil around her, but she does not know why. In truth Miko has foreseen Nagisa’s death and thus fills her with calmness until that fated day arrives.

Mask Description:
Nagisa’s mask is white and pierrot-inspired, concealing her face fully from forehead to chin. Smooth and rounded the mask gives the impression of a whole face with but a single attribute standing out: a slim red smile is painted on the white canvas, and depending on the lighting and angle it can portray a wide array of emotions, ranging from arrogance, or amusement, over confidence, to even stoicism.
