"What do you mean, Sakina was unable to attend the coming of age ceremony?" Cecania's neck popped audibly in the conference room as she stared at the nervous looking servant over the frames of her reading glasses. Confused incredulity wrote itself across her expression as she thought back to the dates-- January was the time for the ceremony and... oh.
Karakura.
Her palm met sharply against the smooth, fair skin of her forehead with a gloriously painful sound. "...himmel donner wetter-- verdammt." Guttural and harsh, there was something so very satisfying about particular phrases from her homeland that just couldn't be beaten by the humble Japanese language and their interesting idea of insults. Exasperation and guilt laced her voice along side the frustration of the events that'd taken place.
That wouldn't do.
Sakina was a Tsutsugami, was one of the wards under her care-- not anymore, not now that she was legally an adult in Japanese society and that smarted more than just a little-- and her ward would have a celebration of her life leading up to the age of majority and a speech prepared to ensure she transitioned properly from childhood to adulthood even if it meant having to plan it herself. And a party was certainly in order to ensure the girl was properly celebrated.
"M-madam?" Meekly inquiring after the outburst, the woman shifted uncomfortably within the confines of her formal kimono. "Shall I request some of Daimyo-sama's time to inform him of the occasion?"
Teal eyes flickered slightly in color as she considered her husband's position on the matter. On one hand... the expenses would be something to be mindful of. On the other hand... it was his littlest sister, and now that she was of age, it wouldn't be long before the elders of the council would be suggesting potential suitors for the young woman. The idea of Haruki having to attend a marriage interview for his younger sister was something the pink haired woman actually wanted to see.
She told herself it was practice for when the years flew by and the twins were ready for their marriage interviews to begin as well.
And then Taiki soon after that.
And little Natsuki a handful of years after that.
...maybe this wasn't as fun as she'd initially believed it to be after all. The idea of her daughters in traditional wedding kimono and then the western style wedding dresses-- Taiki in full wedding splendor.
Not funny anymore.
"...ma'am?" More concern.
She blinked back the sting of tears that hit her eyes, clearing her throat and briskly turning back to the very important documents sitting unattended on her screen. Yes. Work. She needed to work and not think about weddings or marrying the girls and boy off when they were far too young. She could convince Haruki to wait until the children were twenty-five before marrying them off, right?
Yes. She could totally do that. Somehow.
And she'd bribe or threaten that council into shutting up for the extra five years. This was the best plan. Absolutely foolproof and everything.
...wait. Did Markus have a girlfriend?
She'd had to ask him about that at the party proper. "Please do inform the Daimyo that I will be forwarding the arrangements to him." Hopefully he wouldn't delete the damn thing on the spot if she included Sakina's name and the subject matter regarding her in the subject line of the email.
The servant bowed quickly and was swift to show herself out. No need to stand by while the woman was in one of her potential tempers, and the joke about Westerners and their temperaments wa- "...who translated 'favored whore' as 'sweetest beloved'?!" Indignant fury thundered through the room as the servant slammed the door behind her and scuttled down the hall toward where she last knew the Daimyo to be in his own office.
The Tsutsugami were an interesting employer.

Arrangements made, gifts quite happily selected with her sister-in-law in mind-- gifts were one of her favorite parts of birthdays, having the joys of browsing, snooping, and otherwise doing all kinds of information gathering to ensure the recipient would be most delighted with the parcels received-- cake, sake, and Sakina's favorite snacks and meals had been made with her in mind.
Cecania was in her element, practically glowing with excitement as she executed the last several orders to those around her to ensure the focal point of the celebration would be just as delighted and pleased as she was by the thought and care put into the party. The slender, bulky box in her arms contained the first of many furisode she hoped that the blue eyed Quincy would find delight in wearing when formal occasions required it of her. She'd searched through the heirlooms, very carefully, painstakingly looking for something that might just speak to her and remind her of the slender girl and appeal to her tastes.
"Sakina?" She knocked on the woman's door, trying to contain her excitement. "Might I have permission to enter? I have a little something for you." It wasn't like she'd painstakingly hired someone to copy little designs to dress up Sakina's cats appropriately to match the occasion or anything so that she could have her picture with them.
...but the tabby would look so cute in the little starched shoulder guards and miniature samurai outfit.
Granted entrance, the pink haired woman practically stormed into the violet haired girl's room and set the parcels upon an empty space with a flourish and beam of delight. "I apologize profusely for my lack of attentiveness, Sakina, I truly meant no ill will by it." An apology was an absolute must to work on correcting such a grave insult.
A smile once the seriousness of the moment had faded. "Happy birthday, Sakina-- and may I be the first to congratulate you on reaching the age of majority. You are a woman now, an adult in the eyes of the world with all the freedoms and responsibilities that includes." Her head gestured slightly in the box's direction.
"Please open this, and let us move to the next stage, hmm?" Teal eyes shone a happy aqua in color, barely containing her excitement and looking much more like she were Sakina's age rather than a woman eleven years her senior.
They had a party to get to, after all.

OOC: Sakina - in the box is a furisode, the long sleeved kimono worn by young, unmarried women. You can have fun deciding the pattern of the kimono and color scheme! Cecania will help her do her hair/style it in any way she wants and do a bit of make up too, and will hustle her to the banquet hall to reveal the surprise party.
Tsutsugami- refrain from posting until Sakina gets there please and then go nuts! The Coming of Age ceremony is a massive deal and is always treated as such too.
