Hey BG! Let's talk Stories for just a second.
A lot of us often plan for our characters to retire, sailing off into the sunset of Transcendence and taking a nice, hefty retirement GP bonus on to round 2 (or 3, or 4). But you know what? It's not a great idea to pin people into needing to take there story that far just for a bit of extra GP, especially when they don't want their character to die.
Sometimes it makes good sense for a story to end, and we don't want to punish players for that decision.
Retired characters do not die, but rather go on living what basically amounts to a "new" life where they will very rarely, if ever, interact with people and places from the rest of BG.
To this end, we're extending Retirement as an option not only all Post-Prestige players, but Prestige as well. (Extended from originally just Transcendentals). However you should be aware that this retirement does need to make sense, and should not be used cash out GP on someone you're bored to write.
Here is a link to the "Character Expiration" rule, complete with update. You'll find within, a small Request template that asks you to supply your justification for retirement. For the case of Transcendents, the decision to move on is an obvious one. For Broken and Prestige, the path is not quite so clear, but it is now yours for the taking.
