A thin stream of water ran down the glass as the train came to a stop- Kasumi felt her feet slide a bit over the floor and her fingers wrapped themselves tightly around one of the chairs. The drizzling hadn't stopped, and she growled inwardly that she hadn't taken an umbrella that morning. Squeezing herself through the crowd to get out of the passenger car, the girl held her bag tightly, not wanting to lose it. After some tugging and pushing, she managed to get out of the vehicle in one piece including her bag. It wasn't like there was something precious inside of it, but Kasumi didn't feel like losing her wallet, or schoolbooks. It would make things complicated, and Kasumi liked to keep 'normal' things- simple. With her headphones on she plowed through the station. It was then, on the way to the exit that she felt something strange. A vague trail of something.. dangerous. Something.. vile. Narrowing her eyes, the kid quickly changed direction. Without giving the feeling a second thought, she quickly skipped to the lower levels of the station. The trace seemed to grow stronger as she entered the subway, but not strong enough for whoever had left it behind to be here. It were just tiny particles of reishi that still clung to the ground this creature had walked upon. Waiting for the platform to run empty as the next subway car rolled by and picked up the crowd of people, Kasumi slipped into the darkness of the tunnel, using reishi platforms to propel herself forward. She had sensed this presence before. Or that's what she thought.
Kasumi couldn't be sure whether it would turn out to be the same person as the one who had killed those people months ago, simply because she had never gotten as far as finding out who it had been. She had never seen the murderer, and could only assume for it being a Hollow. A smart one. If it hadn't been intelligent, she would have been able to catch it back then. Growling inwardly, this time not because of the rain, the child pressed herself against the dirty wall of the dark tunnel. She could hear the subway's car coming closer. It was time to hide before she would get hit. Wouldn't that be a perfect sight? She didn't feel like breaking any limbs, or dying in the subway for that matter. Taking a small side tunnel, she waited for the car to rush by at an incredible speed. The noise it made was deafening and Kasumi couldn't help but to press her hands against her ears, covering them in an attempt to protect herself from the horrible sound. Good thing that it moved quickly, rapidly leaving and allowing Kasumi to exhale in relief as she lowered her arms. Now she could go back to tracking. Excited about all the possibilities, she dashed out of her hiding place into the main tunnel. There were barely any lights, but that wasn't an issue. Leaving green tracks behind the child moved forth, zigzagging through the subway.
After about a quarter of an hour, she quickly realized that she didn't even have an idea to where she was. Having taken so many turns, Kasumi couldn't possibly get back now. Her eyes scanned the dimly lit labyrinth. The presence had grown stronger, but she couldn't feel it move. Still the remainings..
Checking her phone, she knew that she couldn't call anyone. In order to do that, Kasumi would need to get to the surface first. Stupid network..
With an exhale of disappointment she searched for one of the emergency exists on the side of the rails, jerking open the door to see.. what the hell. Her foot slipped as she took a step back covering her mouth. There were tracks of dried up blood all over the stairs.
TUNK TUNK – step – TUNK
She tried to breath. Her heart was beating as fast as it could, causing her to drop the phone as she grabbed her chest. And there, among the tracks, she could sense the reishi. More of it. Pushing past the fears and doubts, Kasumi closed her eyes, dashing through the air above the stairs, not wanting to leave footprints of blood.
Air
Staring at the gray sky the child took a deep breath. There had been no bodies. Perhaps this was an evidence of some underground fight.. right?
No. Haha! Idiot! You FELT the beast, why would you ignore it?
Kasumi heard the voice in the back of her mind, laughing. She was laughing at herself.
Great..
Stilling her senses, she exhaled. The kid shivered and rubbed her eyes. Only then did she realize that she was standing on the grass beneath one of the highways. Apparently, that's where the emergency exit had led her to. Mumbling to herself about 'this being stupid', Kasumi started to walk towards the concrete wall that would hopefully give her access to the upper level of the road. If not, then she would need to climb..
Urghz-
Turning, her gaze met the sight of disintegrating limbs in the ditch about two yards down to her right.
