The cool breeze caressed her rough skin.
The winds of Hueco Mundo had turned cold, much like her. There was a degree of satisfaction in self-realization. It was a sensation she rationalized to reflect her own freedom, and freedom she had experienced since her severance to that place. A fragment of her memory, it was. No longer any significance beyond a passing muse, seen through blank eyes. She had once been titled the Fourth Sword, sworn to protect that place.
She raised a severed limb to her bloodied lips. She bit off a mouthful.
The sentient mind was a strange thing. The more she attempted to forget, the more likely she was to remember. Tova Diablo. Amaya Kidachi. Takua Meggido. Tova Diablo. Kyosuke Tsukimiya. Out of them all, she remembered him the most vividly. He was a being of pure purpose. A soulless killer with the tongue to command. Or such praise she gave him, within her own mind. He was her influence, the mold that guided her life essence. She wanted to be like him.
The taste of Hollow flushed down her throat.
Kyosuke wasn't the only influencing force. Amaya Kidachi's influence had been unintended, but nonetheless consequential. Her trip to the Realm of Despair, the only place she knew to be home, was the beginning of a new era. It was an alteration of the deep down, a change that expanded to affect biology itself. The mind, like everything else, had also transformed. Emotion was replaced with rationality. Lust was replaced with curiosity. There was a satisfaction in understanding her own ascendance.
None of her physical features had changed since her departure from that place, except for the lengthening of her full, black mane. The months spent in the endless desert were reduced to a handful of activities, the consumption of Hollow inclusive. Her desire to learn from Hollow dwindled as she rationally concluded that she'd cease to learn from repetition. There was only so much that mindless consumption would teach. Thankfully, documenting her encounters with the Hollow was an activity she enjoyed thoroughly, and form time to time, she'd come across something worth noting.
Her hunger was insatiable. She leaned forward as she continued to chew, reaching for more. The mound of deceased Hollow to her front would be enough. For now.
There were three topics that she had concluded of most interest to her. The first, was the acquisition of the world's secrets; the know-how required to define the rules that governed her existence. The second, was the acquisition of power; the how-to required to shape the rules that govern the existence of others. The third, and most importantly, was the purpose of her own existence.
She continued to stare through blank eyes as the same memories she'd almost forgotten, returned to her once more.
