It had been a while now since the King had brought Mesablanca home like an abandoned kitten he'd found on the side of the road. She was about as much of a handful as a kitten too, as curious as a child and just as clumsy. She'd already broken several cups, a vase and one of his busts as she tried to learn the layout of his home. She had it down to a T now that a week had passed though and now she hardly broke anything at all. During that time he'd learned a lot about her, the most important morsel of information being her power; the ability to manipulate a persons emotions. It wasn't as grand as he'd first thought, but it was close enough for him to be satisfied. Emotions were powerful things, they decided friend from foe and guided the actions of the world. It was because of emotions that wars were started or ended, people lived or died. All he had to do was figure out a way for it to help him reach his future. If he could amplify her power, have it reach not one person but a whole mass of people, then he could do great things with her.
In the week that she'd spent at his side he'd tried to teach her as much as he could about the structure of Las Noches, the important people in it and had talked with her at great length in an effort to ease her into a more social mind set. The main problem was that she wasn't a very talkative person, having lacked contact with her own kind for so long. All she knew was the vast nothing of the desert, all she could tell him about was eating and wandering. She needed more experience. Which was why she was with him now.
Metal boots clapped the floor as Erasmus walked with a brisk pace through the halls of Las Noches, windows and doors passing by without him giving them so much as a second glance. He hadn't told Mesa exactly where they were going or why and had answered all of her questions with "I'm broadening your horizons." It was entertaining to see her force that caricature frown whenever he teased her. He'd also learned of her reliance on vibrations to feel where she was going, so in order to help her navigate unfamiliar halls Erasmus had made a point of amplifying the vibrations around him to help her build a better picture of her surroundings.
"It's my job to make sure that the other Espada are doing their jobs." He finally told her as the tower of the Primera came into view. "The man we're going to see is Takua, he's the Primera and in charge of our medical requirements. Not all of us have the ability to heal ourselves and some are so bad at it that they often heal their arm only to find that it's twisted and unusable, that's where Takua comes in. He also has something in common with you that I think you'll find interesting." He grinned then, knowing that Mesablanca's desire to know what that quality was would make her push that frown again.
Taking a detour across the open desert so that Mesablanca could feel the rays of the sun she loved so much Erasmus cocked his head around towards her as he walked.
"I'll be leaving you with him today, alright? Then I want to hear all about your encounter with him when you come home. Don't forget what I told you; express yourself."
The wooden door stared him in the face sooner than he had expected, time really flew when you were enjoying yourself. Instead of reaching his knuckles to the surface of the entrance to knock Erasmus cupped his hand around his mouth, knowing that Takua wouldn't be anywhere near the door to hear his rapping.
"Takua! Sorry to drop in like this so suddenly, I just wanted to see how you were getting on in your new office!" The amplified vibrations carried across the whole building. Wherever Takua was in there he'd be able to hear Erasmus calling him.
"I also brought a friend that I think you'll be interested in meeting!"
