First an apology: about a year ago I went on that 4 month trip around Europe and promised to return with pics. I never delivered because I'm a lazy asshole and there was roughly 7,800 photos to sort through. Yay photography.
Now most of them are CR2 and I'm too lazy to convert unless more people are interested and, from what I know of vacation photos ala facebook, I doubt many people ARE interested. So these are select pictures. And by “select” I mean “things that are already JPGs”.
So if you want to see or hear more about any of the places I went just say so?
Silly Pictures
The only noteable random picture that was already a CR2 was the Code of Hamarabi and a knife with a lion on it from the Epic of Gilgamesh....you can probably google them if your interested but seeing these things in person meant a lot to me personally given my studies.
We go to a lot of museums, especially for contemporary exhibits. I really like how this picture came out; it was this cube with all these images floating around it almost Orwellian and yet...I dunno it was just a really neat exhibit and we didn't get many chances to take pics of contemporary exhibits due to copyright reasons.
“I'm gonna befriend the shit out of you” or “Let me sing for you the song of my people!”? (Warning: Blurry)
Railgun was airing at the time so I was pretty hyped about getting to eat my first real french crepe.
Paris
Super clean. Super nice. Beautiful weather and people. I'm not sure why people say that people here are rude; we didn't have a single rude encounter after a week. The public art was absolutely amazing and the Louvre was worth the wait (just seeing those artifacts in person! Wow!). The food was amazing and the ambiance wonderful! I heard from many that we “brought the sun with us [from California]”, which might explain everyone's good attitudes?
I know its cliche but its absolutely breathtaking in real life! And as a world's fair nerd I was so hyped to see it!
Look at how lively this is for a statue! We made a printing of this right when we got home!
Denmark
This is one of my favorite photos I took on the vacation!
BUNNY! (Who kinda resembles his owner.)
Sweden
We love this poster!
A guard in Stockholme during a royal wedding.
The guards there were very photogenic.
One of my favorite dada ready-mades and a personal goal has always been to see one of the original pieces.
Hmmm chocolate!
Russia:
Is this what Arti's throne looks like?
So over the top! I love it in the kitsche'ist way!
Latvia:
Proof that Latvia was part of the USSR? That's how I see this as, at least.
Love the negative space here. Did I mention Riga has some of the best chocolate cake I've ever had?
Oh this is where we got the cake.
Norway:
Norway was absolutely beautiful! Super clean and everyone was very nice! We visited this cultural center that showed "old Norway" right outside of Oslo and it was very fun! The roof of this church uses Viking motifs.
I swear its like a village in skyrim or middle earth or something!
This picture really shows the stark contrast of the kings of Norway versus Napoleon; the French grand dining hall had so much gold we could hardly see and this one is so austere and yet, in a way, we prefer it.
Or maybe Spice and Wolf?
Iceland:
Geysir! Isn't it pretty when its about to explode? It looks like a jewel.
And, for reference, the explosion!
Even the waterfalls here...amazing!
Ireland
So punk!
My mom and I had never seen 'love locks' before. I knew of them and know they are kinda a bitch for "bridge maintenance", but they are kinda neat too, right?
Reminds me of art history class...had to stand still for so long to get this.
England
Your classic pic, right?
