It was a slow day for Great Basin National Park. There were very few tourists that day, which made Emily, the park ranger, very bored. She’d probably driven around her main route probably three or four or maybe even five times and was standing inside of the ranger’s station when she suddenly felt the entire ground around her shift and shake. Remembering old safety training for earthquakes, she immediately dove under her desk, and covered her head with her hands.
But about a tend minute drive away, standing upon a sand dune and focusing on the mountains in front of him, was a man about twenty five on vacation for the first time in a while. But HIS version of a vacation was training his psychic abilities for even greater strength, and this time, unfortunately, it was the practice of lifting the nearby mountains. He raised both hands up, pointing them both at the mountain and focused. He focused on the mountain in front of him lifting out of its position, raising into the air. He felt it first, the vibrations of rocks cracking and giving way heralded the beginning of it and a few seconds later the nearly mountainous chunk of rock and sand dune gave way and lifted into the air.
He held it there for a few moments, marveling at the strength that he had found himself in possession of. The gauntlets that Adimus had given him had worked far better than Raph had anticipated, and perhaps far better than even Adimus himself had anticipated. With these he could tear mountains out from where they should be, and throw them around like dolls, not to mention buildings and trucks. Cars were, by this point, trivial and that was perhaps the truly frightening thing. Cars were one of mankind’s greatest achievements; they made travel much easier and quicker, not to mention safer. But Raph could fly, bypassing traffic and was more than strong enough to lift them and toss them over far distances.
As he stood there, holding the mountain he began to think back about how far he’d come in so short a time, and wondered if any human had ever done so before. In the past, people with as much power would’ve been considered a god…
Yet there was an odd pressure that suddenly appeared in the nearby area. He dropped the mountain and moved forward about a few feet. It was close… Whatever the fuck it was…but… Then came the realization: it was hollow, or more specifically, arrancar. He kept moving… Whatever the hell this was he was going to stop it before they hurt anyone. And if they’d already hurt someone? Oh they’d better hope he didn’t find them in that case, cuz he would KILL them.
