Usually, the two unicorns stayed out of the way and just watched as other hollows and Arrancar went about their business every day, but today was a different day. Different in that Nori was feeling restless and was quickly growing tired of their mundane life.
“We’re never going to get anywhere like this!” He had groaned while giving his partner a disdained look. “I thought you wanted to get stronger, too? So why haven’t we done anything in months.”
Truth be told, Airi had no response to the question. She wasn’t sure why her motivation had dropped almost entirely. Sure, living around all these powerhouses was enough to make anyone feel weak, but they were hollows so being around stronger allies was hardly enough to deter most of her kind. So why was she different?
“We don’t want to stand out,” she had replied with a hastily made excuse. “Unless you want us to catch the eyes of an Arrancar and get eaten that way?”
That was the extent of the argument, though Nori had made quite a few groans and sighs of disdain signaling he wasn’t exactly convinced by her weak arguments. It was more of a resignation that the day’s argument would end up like yesterdays. And the day before that. And the day before that. An endless loop of Nori wanting more out of life while Airi sat by and did nothing.
For the next few hours, the two unicorns had just trotted around Las Noches, sticking to the order boarder like usual. When a weaker hollow would come by, Nori would flex his strength and scare it off for the ego boost, but other than that they pair didn’t do anything of interest. Not until Nori got particularly bold and impatient. He didn’t even give Airi a heads up before he turned off their path and walked up to another hollow.
“Hey, big guy!” Nori looked down at the rather standard looking hollow. “What do you do for fun around these parts?”
Airi was taken back by Nori’s sudden comment, so she dashed over to his side and whispered in his ear. ”What are you doing?” She hissed just loud enough for him to hear.
Nori just gave a sideways glance before turning his attention back to the smaller Hollow. His boldness always stood out against Airi’s more timid nature when it came down to situations like this, even if Airi didn’t really mind talking to others. It was more of her not wanting to accidentally make enemies and given the location, it was pretty easy to accidentally find yourself in a brawl.
“I’m Nori and this is Airi,” he continued, shaking his dark mane as he pointed to his lighter counterpart. “We’re bored and looking for something to do. Suggestions?”
