“I spy, with my little eye…” Airi sang as she looked around the sands of Las Noches from her perch atop one of the pillar like buildings. “Something black.”
“That Arrancar’s zanpakuto case,” Nori replied within seconds.
“Okay… You’re creepy good at this game, Nori,” Airi laughed as she looked at him. “Are you sure we can’t read each other’s minds?”
“I’m sure,” his tone wasn’t nearly as friendly.
Both of them were laying down on top of this pillar, but Airi looked decidedly more alive. She was sitting up straight, her mane waving in the breeze as her eyes shined with a bit of happiness. But Nori was laying in slumped pile of blackness, half hanging over the edge as his red eyes shot daggers at anything that managed to catch his stare. They weren’t usually so different in their posture, but something had crawled up Nori’s butt and died recently, so he was being more than a little unreasonable.
“You’re turn,” Airi said with a nudge when he didn’t jump on his turn.
“Ugh,” he sighed and rolled his eyes. “I spy with my little eye something red.”
“Hm…” Airi hummed as she looked around the expanse, taking note of the Arrancar and hollow that moved around like ants in the distance. Unlike Nori, Airi wasn’t particularly skilled at the spying part of I Spy, so the answer didn’t jump out at her and when the silence went on too long, Nori stood up and gave her the most playful grin she had seen from him in months.
“Time’s up!” He said with surprising enthusiasm before he jumped off the edge of the building. Airi stumbled to her feet but followed behind him without second guessing. They both landed on the ground gracefully, but again Nori lead the charge. He galloped forward with Airi trailing behind and led his partner up to the answer.
The answer was an Arrancar with a slightly modifying uniform. Red streaks along the sides to match the red streak in her hair. The darker unicorn started walking alongside the Arrancar while the whiter one trailed off to the side, happy to give the obviously more powerful being her space.
“Hi,” Nori said as he invaded the Arrancar’s space. “I’m Nori, that’s Airi. We were playing I Spy, but that game’s lame, so I decided we should chat up one of the prettiest faces I’ve seen in a long time.”
