What came first? The drama or the activity spikes? I've seen a massive surge of posts in the last 2 weeks. I can barely keep up. Since this started? Not so much.
Makes sense. If no one was here why would we have drama? Hence people come first.
I'm not counting lurkers who come to munch popcorn and watch the train wreck. Or long inactive nobodies whose characters were around when we had 6 divisions. I mean IC and metagame activity.
How long do they have to be gone for me to safely say its "forever"? I guess we'd have to wait for the site to die. What your saying (and the meme) is still true.
@kire: And lots of people are pulled back by friends they kept after they left the site.

I appreciate black rom as much as the next guy, but this was woefully out of the context and scope of this thread, so it has been moved. I encourage people to stay on topic at this point. Thanks!

Like Malik said, it's a slippery slope and one that can be done by Person A being villified by Group B consisting of Person B, C, D, E, and F, with Person G being the shit-stirrer because something Person A said/did that ruffled their feathers, decided to do IC/didn't include them on OOC/isn't happy that Person A and B are havin fun and Person G is still waiting for a thing to happen, etc, etc, etc.
It's sticking your head in the sand and not actually addressing the problem at its source.
However; that is your right as a community member to decide to do-- but I will give you fair warning that ostracizing someone/several someones is only going to burn your ass in the long run and is going to cause more problems than we have on this site right now.
I don't believe it will burn anything, because honestly if we can conclude that staff is unable to deal with people who bully others, and you can show proof of being bullied in a way that was not stopped after the perpetrator was asked to stop --- then yes, I don't want to write with you. Sorry about that. I'll talk to you, I'll try to help you realize why others might not want to write with you or be around you, but I won't write with you. It's the only control I have really, because I won't just cut someone off, that's not who I am, but through writing and furthering other character's plots I have some small amount of agency. It's all that I really have to control here on BG.
So, yeah, I'm putting my plot where my mouth is. Will people get mad? I honestly don't think that I know anyone, besides maybe Kyousuke, who after being asked to stop saying a particular point to a particular person wouldn't just stop. All these people who we claim as "problem" people on BG are more than willing to stop when asked. Most have publically said so. That's progress. This won't apply to them. Or anyone else who stops when asked to stop.
It would be a slippery slope if it really mattered. But, if Person A is upset that Person C did something according to Person B, and then they presumably tell Person C not to do it anymore, the burden is on Person A to show that they went on and proceeded to do it after being told not to. That's impossible to do if it didn't happen.
Now if Person A is upset about something you think is stupid, and you keep doing it, then yeah, I'm sorry, that's still called bullying no matter what you think their sensibilities should be or whether you feel they should be tougher or stronger or more like you. It's bullying, plain and simple. If you proceed to continue doing what you were politely asked to stop doing I won't write with you. Sorry. That's my agency speaking. I can't do anything else. It's my way of using "pick and chose who you write with," only I'm stating it openly in the hopes that it becomes an idea. I'll write with anyone but a proven bully.
I guess your issue is with the whole proof part of this, but I think it's very clear how to give proof. 99.9% of these situations are cleared up by communication between the people involved and then proof doesn't matter. The big site issue seems to be no one tells people to stop, or tells a person of authority to get it stopped, so I hope that things like this will help people approach that issue. If you can't tell people yourself, staff or someone else you trust can. And it's worth it.
This might be a ramble, I've been really busy today and just returned to this thread. Sorry.
