All the sleep in Walkren couldn’t keep up with the speed that he was going down the long, endless halls of Las Noches. He was barreling across the cold, white tile floor with his robes whipping behind him. The right sleeve flew back like a flag and flapped in the torrent of speed that Walkren was producing. His only hand flew out and grabbed the side of the wall as he cut a corner. There was a wave of displaced air that was traveling behind him, kicking up dust and debris as he went. This fucking castle was obnoxiously huge. It was a wonder that he had even been able to feel the pulse of reiatsu from where he had been.
There had been no mistaking what he felt: Robert Mühle. That motherfucker had lit up the area like a Christmas tree with his reiatsu. Some release or high level Kido would have done it. Which meant he was fighting, which meant Walkren had to get there as soon as he could. At least he was relatively close to where he had pinpointed Robert to be. It wouldn’t be long before he would get there. But, there was no other pulsing that came from that area...or anywhere. Robert’s reiatsu had faded and drifted into nothing. That could only mean he lost.
Walkren couldn’t accept that. It must be something else. If the man was here trying to save Walkren then he was completely foolish. He knew Robert enough to know he wasn’t a fool to just charge in recklessly. Walkren cursed under his breath as he rounded the final corner. Whatever was going on, he would find out soon. In the final stretch, Walkren shunpo-ed forward, once, twice, three times. Each time a rip of air was heard through the hall and each time Walkren disappeared and then reappeared, still barreling forward, but closer to his destination.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the man walk through a doorway and turn in his direction. His chest heaved and his body lurched as it came to a complete stop. Even though he knew who to expect, it still took him by surprise. The man was, for the most part, completely unscathed. The biggest thing was the fact that he now looked as if he could be Walkren's great-grandfather. There was no sign of a battle or any kind of struggle. It was just the Shinigami who walked through the door. When Walkren finally did speak, his voice was filled with shock, “Robert?!”
