So, I have narrowed my possible alts down to two characters:
- Zenji Otsuka: A pacifistic monk who was of an order of monks meant to defend the others in case of attack. His Shikai, Kame, would affect time for him, slowing time down to a bare crawl as he enters a state of Mokuso ("empty mind"). This allows him to dodge and deflect attacks much more easily as he could take seconds to react to an attack that would complete in a fraction of a second. This character has many options for emotional growth, though one of the most obvious is learning that sometimes peace is impossible or something along that vein.
- Hanatsu Hakyoku: Assassin for hire during his life. Ended up dying in a purge of the organization he worked for. As a result he has become somewhat distrustful of any organization without a clear line of accountability. As such, he is very rule focused, and absolutely cannot stand people making actions outside of what he considers to be the rules of accountability. His Shikai is Sen konoha dansu, this zanpakuto becomes a medium sized zone of leaves that 'dance' through the air. Within this static zone, Hanatsu can disperse into leaves (limited in consecutive use by zanpakuto resonance) and reappear anywhere else in the dancing leaves (speed of which depends on his hoho and speed).

i agree with Mel here 100%, but if your set on making an alt i would also seriously recommend that you dont just copy a actual historical character for your alt. it is alright to say 'oh i served under Hakyoku, or was a nameless student of Otsuka, set in the time they lived in and based around the historical facts of the time. but there is no originality when you just take a historical character and put him in pajamas and claim he is a shinigami. otherwise we would have Nobunaga the Arrancar and the like.
I'd have to agree with Mel Jareth- stick to one character for now, and after you've gotten him settled (aka after he gets Bankai), THEN start thinking about an alt. Trust me Jason Personality Fragment number Buscemi- splitting yourself up like that isn't all it seems.

Ok, so, I guess I should have clarified. This alt account I keep referencing is a LONG way off. Currently I have zero alt accounts and I am just trying to figure out an idea for a distant future alt. Not offended melody, though I am confused as I'm not sure what you are referencing when you say bunch of alts (as I have nothing but a couple basic concepts that I put down Cx). Also, I'm trying to figure out what you are referencing kokuou. What historical figure am I copying? If you are referencing Otsuka, then I guess your google skills are next level; however, I am not copying him. He is actually the original sensei of my karate dojo, and when I thought of a pacifistic monk I remembered how he created a style known as the way of peace and thought, "it would be an awesome tribute to such a great man if I used his picture and name." Beyond having half of his name and his picture, the rest of the character is entirely fiction, being a product of my own imagination and having been born in an entirely different time in history than Otsuka sensei. In all honesty the greatest similarity (beyond name I guess) is the fact that they are both capable of fighting; however, that similarity is more a product of me thinking up a character and saying to myself, "Otsuka sensei would be the perfect face of this character!"
