Without any hesitation the redhead at the end of the counter by the bar guzzled another cup of something that was presumably alcohol. Kasumi couldn't help but to shiver at the thought of having to drink more of that filth. How someone could gulp it down with such great enthusiasm was beyond her comprehension. The white teenager had had a couple encounters with various alcoholic liquids and none of them had left behind any pleasant impressions. If nothing else Kasumi was probably even less encouraged to drink the stuff that some of the adults grew attached to rather easily – what was a mystery in itself if you asked Kas. Lightly tapping the wood next to her glass of beer with her fingertips the girl averted her gaze for the umpteenth time, trying not to stare at the woman's dark reddish hair and graceful movements; if graceful drinking was even a thing. Tracing the almost full glass with the bitter liquid inside of it with her gaze, Kasumi found her eyes returning to the woman's perfect posture a mere second later. Quite embarrassed about staring again Kasumi tried to distract herself by finding the bits of yakitori, planning to thoughtfully chew on them but managed to tip over the glass instead of getting her hand on the stick of skewered chicken.
'Way to go.'
Vör's rather dry comment only caused Kasumi to flush harder as her hands were desperately trying to save the glass of beer. Thank god for the inhuman reaction speed – the thing didn't break, though some of the beer still spilled across the table. Awkwardly putting the glass back Kasumi simply chose to disappear towards the restroom in order to clean off her hands instead of fixing the mess she had just made.
Accidents happened, she really had nothing to worry about. Having had a fairly long day she quickly blamed her clumsiness on that instead of the strange woman that was sitting by the bar. Eagerly putting her hands beneath the cold stream she took a deep breath, wondering why the stranger had this effect on her. There was something about her that simply screamed for attention even while she wasn't doing anything else but drinking.. . Could it be that Kasumi was imagining things now? Closing the tab the girl stared into the mirror. Her reflection looked back with a puzzled expression on its face. White eyelashes moved up and down as she blinked while trying to figure out what was so special about that human.
'What are you planning to do next, follow her home?'
The mere idea was insane, and Kasumi couldn't help but to inwardly curse at her spirit while secretly wondering if she could get away with stalking someone. No, no. That wasn't something she needed to get wrapped in now. While she could probably figure out a way to- Woah. The creaking of paper pulled Kasumi back to the small space that was the restroom, forcing her to leave the idea of dumping her gigai and sneaking through the streets behind the woman like a creep. She left the plan behind in the bin together with the wrinkled paper that she had used to dry her hands with.
'You really don't plan to give up on it, do you?'
Of course not. Now that she was already passing the bar she might as well get a better look at the one whose presence was the source of her aching neck. With a quick glance to the side she was stopped in her tracks. Memories flooded in and exploded like tiny fireworks right beneath her skull. One thing led to another and soon there was no turning back. With widened eyes she remained glued to her stop a couple of seats away from the scientist. Or at least that's what her memories led her to believe. There was no way of telling whether this was the woman from back then, and there surely was no explanation to why she would be sitting here, in a bar in Kyoto, if it was her indeed.
'Well, you know what to do if you want to figure it out.'
Not feeling like appearing even weirder than she already did, Kasumi tried to subtly made her way to the counter as her blue eyes lit up in excitement that soon mixed with her usual curiosity. A large jar was standing next to a pile of snow white napkins and a tiny plant of unknown origin. With a little smile forming on her lips the girl dug her hand into the jar and fished out the candy she wanted. It wasn't completely the same, but it was apricot.
This should do.
A turn, eyes fixated on the stranger with great concentration. Kasumi gently put the candy on the counter before giving it a firm push. The little orange square quickly slid towards its new owner, and Kas couldn't find anything else to do but to grin at the woman in a somewhat apologetic way. All that she needed was some sort of reaction. If things would go smoothly that would be good, if not, she could still simply talk her way out of by saying she was simply offering a snack.
Two seconds passed and Kasumi found herself sitting on the seat next to the redhead, nervously looking at the candy between those long fingers.
'Good thing you didn't grab that honey one, that one looked rather orange too.'
That wasn't orange. It was yellow!
"Hello."
Her throat was dry, and she felt silly.
