Things never work out how one plans and that lesson Hatake had just learned the hard way, but that's what you expect when you believe in a self acclaimed 'God' right? Entrusting everything entirely to one person should have been absurd to the crimson Shinigami but in that instance it wasn't absurd, it was the opposite actually. The first time Hatake met Enlil The God he believed his power could achieve two things in this world, it could either save or destroy it simple as that. Which one would Enlil choose? Hatake didn't know and never got the chance to know. The first time Hatake met Enlil....
The sun beamed into Hatake's ruby colored eyes with enough intensity that he had to lift his hand and shield himself, that was bearable but what wasn't was the ungodly demonic temperature of this miserable country. Hatake stood on top of a crumbling building that use to be a hospital, his blood red hair barely brushing past his brow seemed to dance along with the wind as if it carried an unheard song. He wore a tan robe to keep out the constant sand blowing around which was somewhat ratty over his jet-black Shinigami uniform. Kenko his Zanpakuto sat on his back securely the red and black scabbard glistening with the beating sun, the three bells attached to the hilt chimed softly as the wind brushed pass them. Hatake crouched softly as he ran his hand through his hair as he spoke quietly to himself..
"This ma- God better be worth it...I can't wait to get out of this shit hole. Now if I were a God where would I be?"
Hatake had to capture 3 Shinigami's and torture them to find a man whom turned out to be women to even find out the same country Enlil was in and it just had to be Iraq! Hatake gave out another sigh softly to himself before moving from his crouch and pulled Kenko from his back placing the blade next to him while simultaneously laying on his back his red hair fanning out behind him. At least he wasn't in a rush seeing how he got permission to temporarily leave his seated officers duty to follow this lead on Enlil though he couldn't tell his Captain exactly that because Enlil was a wanted Shinigami after all. We were desperate though because he was coming..Tova. The man that threatened to ruin all of Soul Society as we know it. Hatake's home, his lively hood. They needed to do something and something fast and that was where Hatake Tenso came in though if they knew his real plan he would have been arrested on the spot for treason but his heart was in the right spot. He was going to save Soul Society or die trying. Where to go from here? Hatake had been here for weeks with no luck and no one speaks English or Japanese here.
Glaring at the sun as if in defiance he thought to himself
"Where do I go from here? What am I supposed to do if I can't find him and the invasion happens and I'm to late. "
Do you think sitting here crying on a roof about it will help anything Hatake? We must search for him if you want to save Soul Society or will you let it fall?
"Never"
"Then stand Hatake Tenso!"
Hatake lurched upward grabbing Kenko and flicked his body in a back flip and pushed himself forward with a quick hoho, Hatake arched his back as his body plummeted to the ground at a rapid pace until his landed at the bottom with a thundering crash cracking the ground underneath him. Just as he landed Hatake pushed off with another hoho then another then another before he looked back at the hospital in the now considerably farther distance as he chuckled to himself. He wouldn't give up, that wasn't in his blood, he was raised a fighter. With a quick flick Hatake turned his body and started the short walk into town.
Calling this dump a town was being....considerate to say the least, from 50-60 yards out it seemed as if it was a dead zone but as Hatake got closer he could see people bustling around and scurrying through the alleyways. This was where Hatake would investigate next-
Suddenly Hatake sensed two Spiritual Pressures within the town, from the feel of it just below Hatake's current level or equal and they appeared to be together. Hatake doubted either of them would be Enlil seeing how either Enlil would never let someone of Hatake's level to sense him or if he did sense him it would be at least triple their current level maybe more. Regardless Hatake took off with a quick Flash step, he now stood in the middle of the town as he closed his eyes slowly trying to sense their exact location but this was never his forte.
Left, 300 yards...No 400? Closer to 400 for sure....Wait......Are they moving?
Do they know I'm here? Hatake shook the thought with a chuckle impossible, he was suppressing his own powers to almost non existent.
No they are closing in on my location! 200? 150? I can't tell!
Move Hatake! Now!
Just as Kenko finished his sentence Hatake's eyes snapped open just in time to see two Shinigami literately within spitting distance of Hatake. His eyes widened slightly as he slammed his hand back to his blade as the two Shinigami moved at a dangerously fast pace towards Hatake, luckily both of their weapons were sheathed.
Shit....Not enough time! Hatake chocked out just before the Shinigami on his right ducked his body quickly into a sweeping kick knocking Hatake off balance and slightly in the air. There was no time for Hatake to react to the attack, he completely got caught off guard which hasn't happened often in his lifetime. The other Shinigami wearing the same exact clothing as the other, jet black ratty robes that draped from their bodies like smoke with a Shinobi mask covering 50 percent of their face, raised his right foot in a bone shattering kick to Hatake's mid section sending him flying over his partner and into a near by building with an ear splitting crack as the stone crumble beneath the force. The young blooded Shinigami's body slid for a moment before he caught himself and kicked off the same building his was just thrown into completely destroying the front side of the house in the process as he headed towards both of the new Shinigami with rage in his eyes. The wind ripped through his hair at the sheer speed of his movements, he closed the distance between them quickly as he got within 15 feet or so he used a quick Flash step to place himself in the middle of both of the Shinigami. Smiling he raised his hand quickly aiming at the first Shinigami's back while simultaneously moving his other hand to point at his partners chest.
Karen Seiygo!
As a small ball of fire appeared at both of Hatake's hands and shot out with impressive speed into both Shinigami sending both of them flying from Hatake into the surrounding building, but it wasn't over yet, just as they smashed into two different buildings the two balls of fire simultaneously blew up with a blast radius of at least 15 feet. Hatake thought he hit both of the Shinigami but he only hit the first one that kicked him in the air, Hatake barely heard the Flash step as he looked directly above him as the unknown Shinigami flew towards him. Hatake smiled..
"Well this should actually be fun..."
"Hatake don't kill this one, we need information on Enlil's location and he might know." Kenko's voice brushed through Hatake's mind just as the man reached Hatake he had a long silver blade in his hand which he raised with a swooping motion just above the red hair Shinigami, with this amount of speed and his strength level this blow needed to be dodged. With a single step backwards Hatake dodged the blade just as it came crashing into the ground where he just stood cracking the hard dirt packed road, Hatake's eyes shifted towards his opponent as he flicked his right foot forward connecting with the Shinigami's wrist, simultaneously kicking the mans blade from his grasp. The blade shot off crashing into the side of a building about 30 yards from the both of them as the Shinigami landed on his feet he squared his shoulders and asked Hatake
"What business do you have here? Shinigami's that are still in good standing with Soul Society don't come here and I see you are from the Fifth Division."
Hatake chuckled softly as he flicked his hair to the side before meeting his gaze with a burning desire to slit the mans throat
"So you attack me, I happen to kill your mate and disarm you and you want ask ME questions? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Why shouldn't I cut you in half right now?"
Before the man could answer Hatake moved forward with a blurry Flash step, he now stood just before the man with Kenko inches from his throat as he spoke very clearly and slowly
"You will answer everything I ask you and you will tell me the truth or you're going to wish you died in that explosion. What is your business here and what are you doing here?"
His eyes wore true fear which was a good thing for interrogations.
"We were heard of a man that had a hefty bounty on his head so me and my partner were investigating this town and we have been here for 4 or 5 weeks. Wh-"
Hatake flicked his wrist slightly pressing Kenko into the mans neck just hard enough to draw blood.
"I am asking the questions here. Have you ran into any other Shinigami here? Have you heard anything about a Shinigami named Enlil?"
As the name crossed Hatake's lips the mans eyes widened and Hatake had his answer this was actually going to be a lead! This Shinigami is going to tell Hatake everything regardless if he knew it yet or not.
"Tell me! Now!"
A strong gust of wind blew through the town hitting the two sending pleasurable shivers down his spine, while lifting his ratty brown robe. Good riddance, Hatake couldn't stand another minute in the thing anyway. Hatake's eyes were beaming with determination and mild annoyance just as the man began to speak, luckily for him.
"There was an injured Shinigami that passed through though I wouldn't call him injured or even a Shinigami he was a God. I don't know this Enlil but I do know I have never felt something like it. Last thing I heard he was staying near the old hospital about a mile out of town."
Hatake chuckled softly to himself at first thing a deeper laugh erupted from him, Kenko shaking and cutting the mans throat. The man looked at Hatake like he was insane but Hatake barely noticed. To think if Hatake would have stayed on that roof then he might have ran into Enlil.
Hatake sighed as his fit of laughter finally came to a stop as he began to spoke with sudden seriousness.
"Thank you for your cooperation, I appreciate it I really do." Just as Hatake finished speaking he brought Kenko up quickly in one fluid motion and took a thundering step forward nearly cutting the man in half. He couldn't risk leaving any witnesses around especially since the Shinigami found out that he was from the Fifth, with a quick turn of his body and flick of his wrist he turned and took off in the other direction towards the hospital while clicking Kenko back in place on his back. Hatake pushed his body to its limit, his hair was slicked backwards from the speed of his movements his body blurring in and out of hoho's as he rushed back. Within 250 feet Hatake thought he could feel the presence of another Shinigami but it was for only a second before it was gone, the seated officer closed the distance to the Hospital quickly and easily cleared the 6 story jump to the roof. His body landed as quiet as a cat, two beads of sweat slipped passed his brow and fell to the ground as he walked to the middle of the roof. With closed eyes Hatake tried sensing around him for some sort of presence.
Before Hatake even mentally noticed it his body turned towards the presence, his hands placed behind his back clasped together. His body moving silently through the crowd, most not even seeing him, or being able to, a much smaller number of people actually can see him, regarding him with a very wary look which could only be expected, Hatake moved like a training solider, mixed with the balance of a cat, his eyes a hard and solid red staring blankly while taking in every inch of detail of his surroundings without a flicker of his eyes. Hatake took a hard right until he was standing directly above a large building in a small alley way that broke off into two other alley ways. Hatake pushed off with the blinding speed of his hoho kicking dust upward from his movement just as his body appeared slightly above the building. Planting his right foot forward he stepped onto the building looking around searching for someone, he could have sworn that it was coming from here though now it seemed scrambled.
Hatake's eyes narrowed towards an AC on top of the building a knew certainly there was someone behind it. Simultaneously Hatake felt there was someone else to the left behind another, so Hatake had underestimated them, they sensed Hatake coming before he appeared and even had time to hide from him though that meant little to nothing
"I already know you're there, show yourself, slowly."
There was a eerie silence before a timid dark skinned man stepped forward from the right his face hard with hate and anger, he held to small knife clenched in his right hand and a gun holstered to his left leg, the man towards the left stepped out as well he was a lighter skinned fellow with a smaller frame but he screamed leader, his face set in a laid back fashion, his bright blonde hair cuffed into a pony tail behind him.
"Well hello friend, aren't you dressed quite weird! Anyways, you're not welcome here, this is our town, we will give you one chance to leave"
Hatake's face broke into a menacing smiled for only a moment before he stepped off quickly, obviously to fast for these humans to see, his body appearing directly in the middle of the two
"Watch how you speak to me mundane." Hatake swept his leg forward with a cracking blow towards the dark skinned mans face though he manged to lurch his left hand upward to block he obviously didn't expect the power behind the kick, Hatake's foot collided with the forearm of the man with bone shattering force sending him flying skidding on the buildings roof slamming into a small utility shed with a sicking crack. Hatake turned towards the other man lowering his leg and shifting his body to face the man as he realized the man had drawn a pistol
"Don't I will kill you befo-"
Was all Hatake could get out before the sleek black pistol barked twice, Hatake's body lurched sideways, the bullet shattering behind him, the second one coming for his head just as Hatake ducked lower than the path of the bullet, Hatake pushed off quickly bringing up his right hand meeting the mans neck.
"I'm not suppose to kill anyone that I am not authorized to but how would my Captain feel about such scum as you."
The man showed fear for the first time, sweat dropped down his forehead furiously as Hatake decided not to kill the man but gave him a bone shattering punch to the chest sending him skidding off the roof
"Oops."
Hatake stepped forward at the lazy sun setting, as he stepped off the roof flipping in the air, landing on a lower building with a quiet thud.
"Where is this man! I will search around here before I will head away from here to continue my search. Kenko you haven't said much recently?"
"You didn't need to kill the mundane Hatake"
"You know I didn't mean to send him flying off the roof, plus he attacked me first"
"What are you three years old?! You should have handled that like the trained solider you're instead of acting like the Arrancar you seem to hate so much."
"Kenko! I am nothing like them, I will never be. Everything I do is because of the result of their actions, their pain they have spread across this world, we must correct it."
"You must keep your light Hatake and not drift into darkness Hatake"
"I won't Kenko, as long as you're beside me, I will not fail. I will shoulder the worlds pain, and carry it, I am strong enough. We are strong enough"
Kenko didn't reply but gave a silent nod, as Hatake pushed forward once again on the search for Enlil...
But Hatake noticed something rather strange, Hatake had rather good hearing yet he never heard the man scream as he fell from the roof or the sound of his body hitting the ground instead what he thought he heard was the soft whoosh of a Flash Step but that couldn't be could it? He didn't since any other Shinigami around him so it had to be his imagination right? No. He was right. Suddenly a Shinigami wearing tattered clothes appeared before Hatake clutching the human he had just kicked off the roof. One of his arms seemed to be injured and were held in a sling but this had to be him, he fit Enlil's description. This just had to be Enlil The God.
The mysterious Shinigami spoke then with a sense of authority that screamed power...
“Were I still Captain of the Sixth Division, I would be arresting you. Do not look too relieved…I have not decided if I will kill you or not yet.”
Hatake's body seemed to shiver and it wasn't from the cold. What if he made a mistake? What if Enlil wouldn't agree to help Hatake and decided to kill him? That never crossed his mind and it should have but he was so focused on saving Soul Society that he might have gotten tunnel vision.
Hatake looked around quickly, taking in every aspect of the Shinigami and the roof. Hatake quickly arched his back and pushed off flipping in the air, landing with a skid several feet from where he was. He was now at the edge of the roof as far away from Enlil as possible but still within hearing distance. Hatake lurched his blade free giving it a few experienced swipes through the air before letting it rest at his side
"That man shot at me and I simply defended myself. It was an accident though I could have caught him and I didn't" Hatake paused as his eyes narrowed, looking at the Shinigami intently as he moved slightly to the right calculating as much as he could if the man decided not to listen though that would matter little. This would be his end if he decided it to be.
"Hatake! Be careful this man is powerful. Watch what you say and just tell him the truth and pray."
"I am Hatake Tenso, Seated Officer of The Fifth and Infestation Removal Squad Leader. I would ask who you are but I have a good idea who you are already. Enlil is it? Or do you go by something else?" Hatake paused again giving a innocent shrug
"I have been searching for you because quite frankly there has been a tragedy in Soul Society and Gilgamesh has finally showed his true colors as a snake, but let me start from the beginning. An Arrancar named Tova stormed into Soul Society with a handful of mercenary Arrancar and hollow to destroy Soul Society, almost everything was destroyed, ALL of the Captains that stood before him were demolished in a second. Gilgamesh and Mitsu failed to even show up, among a few other Captains, and the Captains that did fight allowed their pride over come their judgement. They knew they couldn't win alone yet they still refused help leaving us all to die. I wasn't present..." Hatake paused carefully
"I was on duty in the world of the living, though if I had been there I surely would have died as well. Soul Society needs to be reborn, Gilgamesh needs to die. They have lived for far to long and are not the rightful rulers of Soul Society. How could they be? If they just watched good Shinigami die from the side lines? How is that possibly what a leader consists of? So I left to search for you because I know you're at war against Gilgamesh so I thought we had a common enemy..."
Hatake awaited the mans reply. His single jet black blade gleaming in the setting sun. The blooming red roses that billowed from the wind grew a brighter red.
"I have searched high and low for you, I hope you will at-least listen to me.."
Hatake faces instantly showed his true pain and despair, the pain of all the Shinigami he came back to that were left to burn, or bleed out. Calling for help but there was no help, there was no one. Just death and anguish, Hatake stayed up late and night praying he could take on all their pain and shoulder it. Just to relive them of their misery though Hatake knew that was impossible, so Hatake chose to break every bone in Gilgamesh's body along with Tova's. It was his goal, and he would accomplish his goal.
"Lets pray that this man is willing to help you Hatake...Let us pray" Kenko whispered within himself.
Enlil happened to be a God but a fallen one, the two of them battled on that roof and Hatake proved his worth to Enlil the self acclaimed 'God' yet he never came to Hatake's aid. Another man named Admaud took Hatake under his wing whom was Enlil's pupil though rarely saw Enlil himself until he didn't see him at all. He vanished like a ghost and never returned. Hatake had failed.
He snapped back from his own mind with the stinging memories of the past. The invasion happened, all the Captains fell including his very own. All because he put his trust in one man.
"The invasion would have happened anyways Hatake, Tova's actions made that clear. Nothing was stopping him. We need to move on, Soul Society didn't fall and we need to rebuild and become stronger than before."
"I know Kenko, still fucking blows" Hatake chuckled to himself as he punched a tree next to him splintering the wood and with a loud crash it came falling down. Hatake knew what he would do next. What he had to do. He had to report back to the Fifth. Hatake needed to find the LT, Nagisa and request and audience with her. Though there were a few things he had to clear up in Japan. The summer breeze brushed through Hatake's uniform causing him to smile, he always loved this time of year. It was fighting season. Hatake started the short walk into town with his eyes and mind on the future.
Whats in store for the red headed Shinigami?
