The Nara National Museum. Statues, art pieces… so many precious objects that presented a look back into history. So many objects holding stories that were yet untold. A single statue that was cast in darkness now had many actors. From its creation to here, many hands had touched it, many lives had passed it by. How much of a story did even the smallest artifact have? How much value was there in the objects of history?
And how much more value was there in the mortals surrounding it?
Such were the comparisons to be made as the foreign body walked through the building, capturing the entire facility in every detail. It had taken a fair amount of persuasion to permit Munin to go on this expedition, and even now the man who had approved Munin’s travel to the mortal realm doubted the usefulness of this journey. The figure, clad in it’s usual kimono, seemed to stand out like a sore thumb in the small crowd of humanity that surrounded it. After all, pink hair and fair skin do a lot to distinguish in the country of Japan. Humanity was a curious bunch. Munin’s observations had already noticed a few individuals staring at it. The robot turned to glance at them, recording their appearance as it had for all the others. They may be footnotes in the realm of power, but even these footnotes had a story that went on to fill entire libraries of books.
When one spoke on the magnitude of a story as great as theirs, it mattered little whether one spoke of kings, thieves, or thieving kings.
Wasn’t it simply staggering? To think that all these mortals had such a story? Even if many of their stories carried the same elements, wasn’t it still amazing? Munin looked upon the face of a passerby, recording so many details. Even just trying to detail the features of a body was better expressed in pictures than words, and even that form required thousands, no… millions of pictures, down to the very placement of organs and blood vessels.
Munin turned to another statue, smiling. Everything was precisely what Munin had expected.
However, not even it could predict what was about to go wrong...
