The creature drifted through the endless wastes, a nearly shapeless black mass that towered high into the horizon. It existed as simply as it had for countless years that stretched out before it, without input or direction. The nameless creature did not have concerns, it felt no pull of need or desire, loose spiritual energy, the verdant detritus that surrounded the very air itself, was enough to sustain it such that not even survival flickered into its mind. It had forgotten much, its life, its past, the dim recall of a struggle rarely passed before it.
Thus the time passed swiftly, years and years going by as moments, always accelerating as it went faster and faster. No creature strayed near it as it clung to the distant edges of Hueco Mundo, straying out of the eyes of the powerful, the ambitious and the hungry. Out here lost spirits came, they grew in relative solitude before pulling inward to find more, to develop themselves further and evolve. The call of all Hollow's was that same evolutionary pull. The Nameless had resisted even with its hibernated mind it could recall the concepts that motivated it. Friendship. Suffering. Two words that over time had simply become synonymous. It could not hurt anyone, if there was nobody to hurt.
Yet unbeknownst to it, as its mind decayed it found itself pulled towards a location, a power it could not recognize. And soon the landscape had begun to shift and change before its eyes. In the distance a massive castle that always stretched massively in every direction, it felt presences of life distant and giving it a wide berth as it pressed forward. Tips of quartz broke through the sand, just barely now. There was something near it now, a figure that did not move from it. Such things had been devoured before, consumed, the near dead, the dying It was strange, it realized.
Strange, it realized? The Nameless stopped moving, gliding to a slow stop for the first time in its dim recollection. Realized. Something is different. Something has changed.
Change.
What was change? It's bright orbs flickered slightly, from a dull gray hue to a slightly brighter one of yellow still dim but present. Something was not. Not. Something was not how it was before. Before. Before now. Now. Something had changed, because it was not, how it was before it is now.
It's massive dense form of darkness flared outward slightly, growing and changing. It's height lowered only slightly as it pooled out further. It was not where it was back then, before now. Now was the moment it had stopped, that was all now was. No. Now was changing, changing, changing, changing, changing. It kept changing, now was always changing into the present. What was the present? It is where I am of course.
-I am-
Darkness exploded forth from the massive form, spreading further, shuddering as the orbs turned bright red, flickering around abruptly. A minute passed and it calmed.
I am. How curious that realization was. Of course it was, it had been since the beginning. The beginning was forgotten, an idea, intangible but there, lingering in the back of its mind.
And there was as well, no that wasn't right. They were not them, they were its too, or things. And there was one near the nameless creature. What did it say? Or more important how did it say...
A word came to its mind, more present than any others and escaped, a low rumbling resonance as the word it spoke became known to the things around it.
"CREATURE."
It could not find it but perhaps it would show itself? It would appear before it and then it would know what this thing was and it could resume its travel, but to where? To what and to why? Questions long unanswered, and until now unasked.
"WHAT ARE YOU," it rolled out of the nameless creature like a statement with no inflection.
