Souta enjoyed spending time in the Menos Forest every once in a while. It was a great place for naps, the sound of constant battle and bloodshed making a perfect lullaby for him to drift off to. But beyond that, it was a great place for some cheap entertainment. There was nothing quite like a battle between two hollows. Each of them with their only goal being the consumption of the other, to progress their own quest for power and the expense of someone else's. They were battles for life and death, over a need to satisfy an unquenchable hunger. A hunger that Souta all too readily identified with. That was the other great thing about the Menos Forest. There was always a snack on hand if you were willing to look for one.
Which is just what the Espada was doing as he hopped from tree branch to tree branch, his reiatsu suppressed so as to be unnoticeable to the weak sensed hollows populating the forest. He was looking specifically for a Gillian, but something below him distracted him from his search.
A large hollow was slowly walking across the forest floor, probably looking for it's next meal. But that wasn't what Souta was paying attention to. What caught his eye was the smaller one several meters behind it, stalking it through the woods. Most of the times they were so blinded by hunger that stalking was off the menu, so to see one showing restraint was... interesting. It spoke of greater consciousness. Greater potential. So he watched from on high, unnoticed by both of them to see what would happen.
Something in the distance captured the larger hollow's attention, and his guard dropped for just long enough for the one Souta had been watching to pounce. It got in an easy attack on it's distracted prey, leaving behind deep gashes. Of course the prey didn't take this lying down, attempting to strike back, but the hunter stayed just out of it's reach, landing more shallow blows. The fight wasn't destined to last long as the larger one moved slower and slower with every passing moment. Poison was his first guess as the smaller hollow laid the final blow, securing it's meal. He grinned. The circle of life was a truly beautiful thing. But this hollow had officially interested him.
He gave it a couple minutes to finish eating before with a burst of static he showed up in front of the object of his interest, his posture relaxed, shoulders slouched, thumbs tucked through his belt holding his hands at his side. Really, about as non-aggressive as Souta could manage to be. Even with all that though, he figured that him appearing out of nowhere would probably set this hollow on guard. But that couldn't really be helped.
"You're not a bad hunter, taking down something that big without getting a scratch." Now that he was closer he could get a better look. The hollow was a bit taller than him, and quite thoroughly armored. But the most distinguishing thing about it was the lack of eyes. The hollows mask was a featureless surface. Did it have above average hearing or reiatsu perception then? "So, what's your name? I really hope you have enough of a mind about you to carry on a conversation."
