The night was much like any other in Hueco Mundo. Actually, would it even be called night if that was all there was? There was no such thing as 'day' in this realm. Such thoughts drifted through Emily's mind as she was sat atop a flat rock. It was a silent night, though sometimes shrieks of hollows getting eaten broke that silence from a distance. It was rather soothing, Emily thought.
The girl often looked for interesting things to happen, and where else would she find this but Las Noches? The desert didn't have much to offer other than that, and it just so happened that Las Noches was a hub for interesting people. Of course she'd never dare to approach, she detested the place. Never would she ever set a foot in that castle of fools; she was a wanderer. This didn't mean that she didn't find them fascinating. She often found herself watching the structure from a distance, despite the fact that it made her stomach turn.
This was one of those times. The odd, colourful building she had noticed before finally had some light shining through its windows. The occupant must have been out whenever Emily was here. Who could its owner be? What was its purpose, even? She didn't see other buildings like it, so it was hard to believe it was a mere home. The girl kissed her teeth. She couldn't see much from this distance, she was a good few miles away from the colossal dome. Good thing she didn't have to get close. With a swift motion, Emily conjured a small portal in front of her, placing the other closer to the building. Looking through this portal she could easily see through the window. The only downside? Others could also look through from the other side.
A man. Nothing about his figure stood out, oddly enough. He wasn't exactly muscular, but that didn't take away from his fit physique. It was clear that he was used to manual labour. A combatant, perhaps? She couldn't see much more, he had his back turned to her and was working on something that remained hidden behind his body. The room itself was much more interesting. Tools, a kiln and some other stuff Emily knew not the purpose of. A workshop, then. So this man was a craftsman or artist. This man hadn't done anything significant yet and he already had Emily's attention. Such an interesting figure. She couldn't help but wonder what his craft was.
Suddenly, the man turned around, holding an oddly shaped piece of glass. Black horns protruded from his head and his hollow mask seemed to cover the entirety of his forehead. Emily wondered for a second what the colour of his horns meant. His chin was angular, and it made him rather handsome. If Emily was capable of falling in love at all, this would be what she would fall for. Glass couldn't possibly be the only thing that this man melted. His eyes were filled with concentration, and only then did the girl realise what he was looking at. Their eyes had met. Portals are two-way gates.
