With her world being turned upside down all that Kasumi could think about was getting away from the Seireitei as frequently as was possible. The fear to be noticed – to be discovered – was always lurking, always forcing her to act cheerfully, act the way she used to even if she didn't necessarily feel that way now. Hiding the bottom half of her face in the royal blue scarf that was tightly wrapped around her neck and chin, the girl quickly made her way through the Rukongai streets. The people that knew her well might have noticed the subtle yet present change in her behaviour, those that only talked to her on missions and other such occasions wouldn't have the slightest idea. At least they didn't know why she was faking, why she wasn't as easy-going as she used to be. The ones that had seen through her fragile façade probably blamed her hidden gloominess on the fact that she was still down because of her former Captain's departure. And they wouldn't be completely wrong when following that thought pattern, she was still sad, still hurt and upset, but the anger and hate didn't come from there, they came from that .. from.. the inside.
Clutching the paper bag with the box of cacao mochi inside of it tighter to her chest, Kasumi gave an angry glare at one of the passers-by who dared to eye the gift she was bringing along. She wasn't so far out in the districts that people lacked food, but there were always those that preyed upon the weaker looking ones. With her Shinigami uniform in her room Kasumi simply looked like some posh kid with a sword and a small package. If the eyes had belonged to a child she would have probably shared, or bought whoever was hungry something to eat, but a man who was over six feet tall could get some money by helping someone to carry a couple of heavy bags or rebuilding a wall or two.
Once she had turned around the corner and headed further down the streets the houses started to become rarer. Like lonely trees they stood here and there, spread across the wide area. Making her way towards Tomie's establishment gave her enough time to think about her reaction towards the stranger and by the time that she reached the entrance guilt was viciously gnawing at her mind.
'He won't die from lack of mochi, I'm pretty certain about that.'
Agreeing with her Spirit, if only to reassure her conscience, she slid inside of the building after taking a deep breath. Behind the counter was a young woman, her bright green eyes soon fell on Kas and a trace of confusion was visible – but only for a brief moment. Professional. Obviously she knew how to hide her emotions when just a second later her carefully picked words forced Kasumi to tug the scarf down towards her chin and speak up.
“The name is Shinoda Kasumi, I would like to speak to Magahara-san.”
With the woman walking off to notify Tomie about her arrival Kasumi had the time to silently study her surroundings. Not much had changed from the last time that she was here. Luckily there was no sight of the tussle that's happened about a week ago.
'You like it here, don't you?'
That she did.
The place held a certain type of tranquillity that really placed Kasumi at ease. She slowly blinked and soon her short reverie was interrupted by gentle footsteps. If she hadn't learned how to pay attention to the smallest noises – or her mind hadn't been so paranoid about her surroundings, she would have surely missed the soft sounds. Turning to face the hall she watched Magahara appear; the tall woman was graceful as ever. One day Kasumi would learn how to carry herself the same way, one day.
When the woman came to a stop in front of her, Kasumi felt relieved. A small bow was the girl's only greeting today, and she kept quiet until the two of them were in a private room.
“Good morning, Magahara-san.” Speaking up she sounded somewhat tired, but obviously happy to see Tomie. A second later she started to fumble with the paper bag before taking out the box of sweets. There was a trace of worry in her eyes when she wondered about the possibility of Tomie disliking cacao. But it was too late now anyway, she hadn't brought anything else with her. Holding up the box with both hands Kasumi extended them towards the lady, spurring her on to take it.
“I've brought you these.”
The shy mumbling didn't contain a lot of energy, Kasumi's eyes wandered to the floor.
'Relax, you're here for a session..? – Everything is going to be alright.'
How could Vör be so sure about that? What if the urge would return? Kasumi couldn't hurt Tomie, couldn't k-kill.. Crawling deeper into herself the girl took place and waited full apprehension for the older soul to speak.
