"It'll only be a week at most! Besides, the lady you will be staying with is of impressive insight and perspective. She was most gracious to have accepted you as a temporary lodger! Of course, it goes without saying - watch your tongue while you're there."

The boy unpacked the final clump of crudely-folded clothing from his satchel. A small sigh accompanied a backwards hop onto the bed, leaving him staring blankly at the ceiling. Shigure had apparently been given one of the larger rooms, though the sheer decorated lavishness of his surroundings only served to make the room feel tinier. While he did not suffer from claustrophobia, the years spent in open countryside and modest shacks meant his current circumstances deeply unsettled him. The overwhelming abundance of colour, precious fabrics, and scent of almost suffocating perfumes was an unfamiliar experience indeed.
Out of all his friends and acquaintances, I wonder why Sensei decided to leave me with Ms Magahara...
As with any child left in unfamiliar environments, Shigure's mind wandered.
Who exactly is this Ms Magahara? How does Sensei know her, I wonder... It's not normal for monks to be friends with teahouse owners, surely... Or maybe this was a decision made completely on a whim. Sensei did seem in quite the hurry with this errand of his...
"Hm!"
Shigure sat up again with a troubled expression. He had often been told that his patience was a dithering virtue. At times, he could be content with making sport of gazing at a lake for hours on end. On other days, he would scarcely be able to contain his excitement when spotting unknown animals in the rural reaches of Rukongai. The boy was truly a strange synthesis of erudite stillness and childish inquisitiveness. Adhering to latter aspect of insufferable curiosity, he suddenly made the decision to take a better look around the building. It was beautiful in a meticulously-crafted manner, and not like anything else he had seen before. He was familiar with flora, fauna and rustic elegance - a far cry from his current plush and the luxurious surroundings. This foreignness spurred him to jump back onto his two feet as his previous look of concern became one of good cheer. He then grasped a book from within a separate satchel and placed it underneath his arm and shuffled towards the door.
It would be a short adventure - a chance to explore this microcosm seemingly the very epitome of opulence.
If I'm lucky, maybe I'll find out more about my illustrious host too!
