She had changed; in power, in thoughts, in philosophy, she had changed and become a somehow different person for it all. Sekai, someone whom he had admired and respected for the past few years, since starting on this journey…had become someone that felt altogether strange to him. It was so odd, so strange that someone that had always felt so rooted and strong and confident could shift in such a way as to feel, though more powerful, less together. In many ways he wasn’t sure of who she was, nor did he know who she thought she was. She was a… He shook his head, it didn’t matter what she had done to attain her power but she was different in a way so fundamental that he wasn’t quite certain how to define it.
But he knew what the source of this change was, and it had been what she was fighting, the thing that was both a monster and a god at the same time. But such a being hadn’t been killed…he’d been allowed a second lease on life. He didn’t know how, but he would correct it. He would find a way. He could and he would…
The hollows swarmed over the area, the many spiritualists beating them and fighting them, defeating them in whatever ways that they could, but Raph had a different idea. One that would either get him killed or lead to some kind of salvation, but as the children of this day and age tended to say… you only live once. Or at least something like that…
He found the nearest hollow and began to beat the crap out of it with his fists, only his fists, until it opened the portal, the goddamned key to the next part of his plan. As it was retreating he leapt at it, grappling the creature all the way through, and back into the world of hollows, the world of endless night. The moment that they both arrived, he ripped the hollow in half and tore off its head. It hadn’t been very strong, after all, merely a scavenger feeding off of the carnage that its bastard of a master had unleashed. Raph looked around. The castle looked like hell, destroyed by some great and mighty force…though he could more than likely guesstimate the force that had obliterated it, and knew in a heartbeat that that was his quarry.
Where was it? Where was the creature without a heart? The creature that had become a god for its own amusement? He could sense hollows by the thousands, he ripped apart a few as he walked forward, stalking the thing that had changed Sekai, the thing that had changed his friend. Just when the world was starting to make sense, you come in and rip it apart…
He could sense it up ahead, a mighty power, greater than anything he’d ever felt. Arrancars fled the place in droves and he, a human, was approaching it. Some of them look at him, wondering why he was heading there, others made like they were going to stop him, before he tossed a hollow at them. Ravenous bloodthirsty little bastards that they were, they went after each other either outright ignoring, him, it was almost poetic in a rather pathetic way.
Finally the being he was looking for came in sight. He grimaced, bile and rage building up just below the surface, but determined to keep his cool in front of this thing, despite the fact that everything it was doing was tearing apart people’s lives.
“Power…” he muttered approaching this thing. “Why is it that everyone seeks power? And why is it that once they find it they can never get enough? Maybe it’s because of you… Or rather, things like you; creatures so powerful that they don’t register on any normal scale. Tell me, do you get some sick pleasure out of causing people pain?”
