No I'm more talking about what replaced this thread.
The site has plenty of info on power differences, and what each rank of a skill can generally accomplish (or at least a very base starting point). What happens when X goes up against Y in regards of power difference.
But what about tools / things a person makes? Or how things made off of custom powers work? Or how to use a custom spell / kido skill. I would check the Writing Guide but none of the links work. At least on my end. But not on the where and hows of character created things. I was hoping this would have it on the unfinished bit (I mean there are a few bits still left undone).
Ah, well in that case I don't believe anything replaced those guides. Since we moved away from hard mechanics, custom skills have become a little less relevant unless you're doing it for story purposes. You could check the request board to see who has obtained a custom skill recently and ask them.
Or, alternatively, talk with the staff member Value who has three custom skills.
I'll be splitting this off from this topic here in a moment, since it really belongs on its own. But let's handle that.
Inventions are based on a skill you already have, generally speaking. Takua made a sphere that lets him heal others using regeneration, his ability to use this is based on his Regeneration. His Gigai, and his ability to hide from others while inside of them, is based on his Reiatsu Perception. Quincy have a skill for their vast array of devices though, and if you want to do something similar you absolutely can.
Custom Kido are absolutely allowed. Some people just talk it over with their thread partners and run with it. Others put it into their profile, and the biggest thing is that you describe the flavor of the spell- what does it do, what does it look like, what limitations might it have. Most bindings, for instance, usually don't cover all three areas- movement, physical power, and spiritual power. Note that if you're putting it into your profile staff will look at it and deny something that's overpowered or that otherwise doesn't work.
