I’ve always considered Milestones to be one of the most unique features of BG. I’ve been on dozens of RP sites, and I’ve never run into another system with the rewarding storytelling mechanisms it has. However, I think it’s beyond reproach that the current system we have isn’t exactly working as intended. A lot of characters have never milestoned, and those who have talked to me about milestoning see it as quite the chore.
With that in mind, this thread exists for one purpose: To gather your opinions on milestoning. Why don’t you do it? What do you dislike about the current system?

I think that the system is working perfectly fine (unless the plan was to force everyone into writing Milestones?).
People who find it worth it to put their time into Milestones do it, and others don't. Personally, I simply don't like writing requests. I'd rather write two or three fun topics and enjoy doing it than sit for hours (when I have to do things that I don't like it takes me forever) trying to put together a request that won't change.. anything?
Mastery and Prestige requests? > Yes, I'll write those. Why? Because I can't do without them if I want to keep up with others and write my story the way I want to. Do I need Milestones to do that? > No, I don't. Minor changes for Kasumi don't need to be made public in order to exist.
It's this opportunity cost type of thing for me. Why write a request I don't need if I can write a topic I want to write/ do something else?
> Haven't you written Milestones? Yes, I have. I think that two times I didn't mind getting some extra GP/ threads were going slow so I was bored/ had the time. The last time > I was already throwing stuff together for Bankai, why not add to it/ clear some things up in an additional part.
I'm not quite sure what it's like for others, but for me it's basically about picking what you want to do, when you want to do it and having the option to do so.
> If I feel like writing a milestone/ it comes in handy, I'll do it. Most of the time that's not the case.

What i like about milestoning: Simply like the reviews and critique i get from staff pointing me out how i can improve my writing in this forum base RP.
What I don't like: Honestly feel like it's a chore trying to do both base GP and non just to catch up to the "elites". Some haven't milestone in fear not looking good enough in staff eyes and feels like a ranking up just to get anywhere on BG. Well that's what i think.
I want to just to causally write without having to do extra steps. I think milesones should only be important for prestige requests to be together what all you did.
Nah, it's cool, I'm just looking for validation because I don't want to tear my hair out trying to translate my thoughts into an essay that makes me feel like I'm at school. Toki can tell you all about me, knows me like the back of his hand, ask him.
Seriously though, if there were a way to do it that wasn't so rigid, perhaps multiple ways to cater to different people, that'd be cool. Personally, a little one-to-one with the person doing the grading would work wonders for me, we could chat, talk about it, I could answer questions, I find that that's an easier way of doing it for me. I think that'd be more time consuming for staff though and would require setting specific dates where both parties are free to talk, so, I dunno if it'll work.

I find the easiest way to do milestones is to do them one of two ways:
First Method: Use them as markers for the arcs in your story while you're shooting for the next 'major'power up. (First to Second Power, Second Power to Prestige, and Prestige to Post-Prestige.) Use milestones as your "transition"/middle of your tale.
Second Method: Make staff hate your ass and do them at each request for your power up. Summarizing everything you did from beginning to Second power. From Second Power to Prestige, etc.
I recommend the first method for your sanity and that of staff's, but the lazy can do the second method like I usually do. (Sorry!)
I don't very well mind milestones; they give me an opportunity to 'go back' and see 'how far' the character has come. Some of it's cringe worthy, some of it leaves me going, "Oh shit I really put that foundation down stronger than I thought. Whoops, good to know!"
