The day after graduation was one that in the back of his mind dreaded for quite awhile now, recruits were given a choice on which division in the Gotei they applied for, some chose to stick to their strengths, while others wanted to branch out and test the waters. Kamizawa Minoru on the other hand, however, had different plans: joining the kido corps within the third division wasn’t so much a dream of his. However, it would have seemed the most fitting given his prowess with the arts of both Hadō and Bakudō and so did the third division itself as he clenched the invitation from Captain of the third within his hands.
Making his way over to the barracks of the third division was one that felt like an eternity, each step felt heavy, and the normally fresh and waffle-like air of Seireitei to Minoru was rather thick and suffocating in sensation this morning. Perhaps it was the nerves taking over as small beads of sweat slowly formed as the heat from the sun felt more intense than normal. Each step accompanied by a thought of regret about if this was what he wanted as he made ground towards his destination. The third’s barracks and offices were quite large in nature and having seen the building from afar before astonished the young Shinigami. However, it did, in fact, make sense that the building was quite large as it housed not only hospital within the Gotei but also the most advanced training facilities for the demon arts also.
He had made his way to the main building and entered with ease, strutting in with a sense of finesse. The feeling of anxiety that weighed down on him was set aside by his false persona; his mask was put on and a vibrant confidence radiated from his being as if he were the sun. Minoru wore a welcoming smile and for the first time in his life, his hair was kept in a tidy manner just short of falling past his ears. After all first impressions were something he had practiced as a child before he became a recruit within the academy. Waiting for the young lady to finish what she was doing their eyes locked. Confident brown orbs meet soft hazel iris as Minoru passed the letter over the desk.
“I am here to see Captain Hazuki; I believe she is expecting me quite soon.” He spoke strongly yet his tone was soft in an attempt not to intimidate the clearly placid female who looked just a few years older than Minoru himself. He wondered what Captain Hazuki was like, only ever seeing her from afar once quite recently Minoru knew little of the person who finished the academy within a year. Other than that he knew she was but once a lieutenant to Seireitei’s poster child and fourth division captain; Minamoto Shun.
As he waited to either be invited in into the captain’s room or for her to come out to him, Minoru subconsciously drifted to talk with his partner. He sighed letting the false demeanor of his wash off like water; the elegant spirit appeared behind him placing a hand along his face cupping it with soft, delicate skin. Her voice whispered into his ear as a riddle: “I don't have eyes, but once I did see. Once I had thoughts, but now I'm white and empty.”
The first response to the riddle was a loud groan; constantly Chikki Ume would test Minoru’s wits by offering various degrees of conundrums, puzzles, and wordplay for him to answer. He knew the rules however if he wanted to talk casually with the sorceress he would need to answer the problem before him. Luckily enough the riddle was, in fact, a lot easier than some of the more recent ones she had given him. Something that didn’t have eyes yet once did, that was the part of the riddle that gave the answer away to him. It was obviously something dead that once lived. Being white would refer to the bone and empty referring to how it once held a brain. Minoru grinned as he placed a hand on hers that was cupping his face and twirling himself around. “A skull…That was too easy Chikki Ume.”
The conversation was cut however as the Shinigami from before came back ushering Minoru into the Captain's office. He was let in and bowed before the Captain, “Kamizawa Minoru reporting in.”
