Her steps had carried her further than she planned. Further than she had gone before. The humble shacks and debris faded into more structured buildings. People lined the streets, though still poorly clothed, they at least seemed happy to some existent. The world wasn’t entirely misery to them. What district was this? The 70th, maybe? It was impossible to tell given her limited knowledge of the area. Even still, she continued walking north -- towards the pull of the chaos.
She had only recently grown the nerve to step out and dare a Shingiami to find her. True, she was fairly far away and had proven to be quite good at hiding herself, but the paranoia was crippling. It ate away at her day after day. It was only because she could feel that brooding gloom on the horizon that she even dared to test her limits.
So far, though, things had worked out well. Hardly anyone gave her a second glance and her spiritual senses promised there was no one of interest anywhere remotely close. So what exactly was she even doing? The Seireitei terrified her on a fundamental level. That was where Shun was -- where everything wrong was. But… At the same time… Where could she possibly go? No longer welcomed to Las Noches, never able to be accepted by the Seireitei. She was at a crossroads and the intense loneliness was eating away at her.
Sadly, Wish couldn’t provide the sort of friendship she was looking for.
’It breaks my heart, truly,’ the inner Hollow chuckled sarcastically. Always lurking. Always listening.
It wasn’t until she passed into another district -- or perhaps a really well maintained part of the same district -- that she felt something in the distance. Her footfalls grew light, eventually slowing to a stop when she felt the pull of that leash jerk towards her.
Who was it? She narrowed her eyes, as if she could physically see the little ribbon-like thing that manifested for each individual’s spiritual tag. It was… Familiar, but maybe not? Like a lost memory. Friendly? It seemed so. But at the same time… Not.
No. It was just passive, she decided.
Curiosity killed the cat, though. She glanced around before hopping to the top of a nearby building. A few more jumps carried her to the tallest nearby building, allowing her the perfect view of the surrounding area. Sure enough, a small dot was rushing towards her. Well. In her general direction, that was.
Quietly, she stepped over to the next building and began making her way towards the mysterious person.
